It is this behaviour which must have forced the authorities to shift Sweetpea into hiding. The curse of the NGO idea and ideology. Foraging animals just sit around stuffing their mouth with soft sweet starchy carbohydrate stuff.
As chubby as SP is, he's actually a lot smaller than I thought. You don't realize their actual size until you see them next to people.

We might as well call them tree blobs instead of monkeys because these things can hardly get up a tree anymore. And forget about actually trying to find food on their own when ppl show up to hand feed them into comas. All day everyday. I loved the video when everyone was locked down and not feeding them so there were just thousands of em all together when this motorcycle drove by and dropped a banana. Lmao it was like ww3 with everyone fighting everyone over a taste of that thing. Lazy blobs
@@cnucks9070 do you think their population exploded for no reason? Longtail have the quickest life cycles of all macaques. Since they are extremely food driven. So humans started to feed them and their numbers started to explode.
People started to feed them because they tore down their homes, stole their babies from the forest for pets, we leave food trash everywhere, etc, etc.
The Longtail problem is 100% due to humans interfering with them and basically conditioning them to look at us as the best food source. Since the food we give is better and more plentiful than anything they can find in the wild. Also there isnt near enough wild resources for all the Longtail troops that have developed over this cycle of interference. So the monkeys will never leave humans alone(aka they can't get enough food in the small forest areas that are left). Nobody wants to starve right?

They keep telling her that ole "dumpy" loves her, as he keeps gnawing at her. Does that look like love? He's super annoyed she's not feeding him because she resembles his regular food truck. 4:58 - He's spotted his next victim. This one carries a familiar "food container" on her back. He grabs the water away very lovingly! Yeah. 5:56 - Cuts away as "dumpy" appeared primed to gnaw on his next victim. He finds some more victims, gets food, doesn't want them touching him. Then he just waddles, waddles, waddles away!

He rarely gets reprimanded for anything he does, so it's very unlikely that he will stop doing it. When he bites Konthea or visitors, Konthea encourages the behavior by massaging him and cuddling him. They're setting up the perfect storm for him to seriously injure someone.

I love sweatpea hes a friendly konkey with personality. So what if hes fat at least hes funny and not like the other males that just walk around and screw.
He's really obese to the point of seriously unhealthy. He was chubby since he was a baby so he is predisposed and long tail macaques are bigger and thicker than other types of macaques, but if he was given a blood test and blood pressure check I would venture to say he is by now insulin dependent diabetic, statin dependent stomach and cholesterol level management, medication managed high blood pressure and that's just for starters. He's maybe 5 years old and his hip joints are already worn, you can see by the way he walks. Macaques usually live 45+ years, in his condition I doubt sadly if our boy will make it to 10 in his present condition!! He needs all of us to ask someone to intervene and not the WLA, and put him on a diet ASAP.
