    I just want to know if you can watch videos on CZcams for example and connect through the car's speakers using the FM frequency? Can you basically here anything on your phone through the car's speaker?

    Good review. I have a jabra drive and am planning to upgrade to freeway due to drive not working properly.
    I have a question for u. Can i continue to keep the freeway in my car without it getting spoilt. The max temperature in my country goes to 50 degree Celsius.

    Here's an idea. Drive always with the visor down (with the Freeway on the inside), but just push it forward, to give you a bit more view. Then all you have to do is just pull the visor down a bit, when it's sunny. This is what I do, and yes, you will get used to it.

    I found that if I had a fuzzy FM signal it was either interference from a matching frequency (in which case choose a different one) or it was because the Freeway was plugged into the car charger (in which case I unplugged it). An yeah, voice controls are too patchy to really rely on.

    Hopefully this will answer some questions people have posted about the device working with their various types of phones.
    Most Jabra devices work with pretty much any Apple or Android based phones. HOWEVER, they will only do a good portion of the voice control options (like voice dialing and announcing the caller's name during an incoming call) with iPhones. Several manufacturers of these type devices did the same thing. The reasoning being, when iPhones first came out, there was this idea they were going to counter the cellphone world. That didn't happen, but, the technology didn't change.
    It will still announce the number that is calling you, however, unless you have an iPhone, it will not announce the caller's name.

    Thanks mate, when it is in FM mode the caller will come through FM, this is actually not a bad thing though so the audio through your car speakers is generally better than just through the Jabra right? Best of all the caller doesnt get "feedback" or "echo" as a result. Plus plus!

  • @GeoffQuattromani
    @GeoffQuattromani  Před 11 lety

    True, it's a great feature to have yet no one else (that I know of) are using it any longer. I think they are relying on bluetooth now as a lot of docks and cars are coming with BT built in and streaming is better quality than FM broadcasting.

  • @tjhessmon4327
    @tjhessmon4327 Před 6 lety +1

    The Jabra freeway has a design flaw which causes problems with the speakers, just past the initial warranty period. The speakers will sound blown, however in most cases they are not. The problem is the main speaker starts to vibrate (rattle) against its 4 plastic mounting posts. The speaker/posts were not designed with isolation, they are a hard material joint. ____________
    This can be resolved in a few ways but all of them require the opening of the unit to gain access to the speaker mounts. Either use Silicon gasket maker to secure and isolate the main speaker (and bottoms of the tweeters) or drill out the main speaker mounting holes and add trimmed rubber hose between the post and speaker mounting holes on the speaker platen. ____________
    Ifixit has a good article for disassembly/assembly of the Jabra Freeway. once repaired the freeway will no longer provide feedback vibration via the speakers.
    The Jabra Tour does not present this type of problem with its speaker system
    Jabra could easily remedy the problem by changing their design and isolating the speaker mounting pins from the speaker platen.

    As long as you tune your radio into the station that the Jabra announces then you should be fine. When I push FM on my device is says "FM on 91.1" at which point I need my car radio tuned into that frequency for it to work.

    @repo064 Hi mate, I still use the device and rely heavily on it. The voice answering still isnt perfect for me and if it doesnt answer on the first go I manually answer it because im scared of missing the call. I dont do a lot of voice dialing, I guess I just dont have the faith in the product that I should. HOWEVER I need to add that this is partly to do with the Blackberry in some ways as during the trial of the Nexus S I had greater success of voice commands, go figure? Thanks for the comment

  • @GeoffQuattromani
    @GeoffQuattromani  Před 11 lety

    When you push the FM button it should announce what frequency it broadcasts on, eg 91.1Mhz. Then you need to make sure you radio is tuned into that frequency to ensure it works. If all of that is correct and it still wont work then it could be a problem with the device and should be returned.

    I've got 2 questions Geoff;First Q; Are there newer versions of the device?Second Q; How does the FM Freq* work? Do i need to have the FM on while driving?Because I would still like to listen to music instead of listening to static ;).So, does the Jabra pick up the freq* on the background? And while getting called, the radio freq i am listening stops and picks the Phone call automaticly?Would like to know this before buying a 100 euro device.Thanks in advance!

  • @complexkitty
    @complexkitty Před 12 lety

    By the way, I also had problems with the commands "play" and "answer", and I was speaking plain English with my American accent...I don't know if the sensitivity or proximity of the mic has something to do with that, but it's kind of frustrating. I can get it to understand everything else, but those two commands are tricky. "Answer" works eventually, but I still cannot get "play" to do anything. "Play" only worked after intial setup. It's odd, but if that's the only thing wrong w/it, I'll deal.

    Currently trying to decide between the Jabra Freeway and the Motorola Roadster. Going to compare them in the car this weekend. I get the Roadster tomorrow, but so far the Freeway sounds awesome on its own not streaming through my car's speakers. It is really excellent delivering audio of audiobooks. The FM istreaming sn't that great in my area, not a lot of free stations to choose from so the calls go in and out, and I have to switch back and forth from the car to the unit itself. Good review!

  • @GeoffQuattromani
    @GeoffQuattromani  Před 13 lety

    @polarstar75 It is a great gadget for my car, I was listening to podcasts this morning from the Blackberry to the Jabra Freeway and into my car radio via FM! it was great!
    If the car next to you was tuned into the same unique FM address and their antenna was strong enough then yes they could listen to your music. I dont think the broadcasting range of the device would be very far though.

  • @complexkitty
    @complexkitty Před 12 lety

    @gquattromani You're welcome! I decided to keep the Jabra Freeway. It pretty much blows the Motorola Roadster out of the water when it comes to sound quality and function performance. I did download the Motospeak application from the Android Market that Motorola recommended, and it actually works better with my Jabra Freeway, so that is something you might want to test out for receiving and sending texts handsfree in the car.

  • @complexkitty
    @complexkitty Před 12 lety

    @gquattromani And I finally got the 'play' function to work with my Jabra! I guess since I have more than one music/media player (Pandora, music player app, Audible, etc.), the Jabra wasn't able to decide which app to use...it's not that smart. I don't mind selecting the app I want to use and then letting the Jabra take commands from that point on when I say 'play' and 'stop'. I don't know if that helps you with your 'play' function issues, but I just thought I'd share. Enjoy your Jabra!!! :)

    @Danielball22 Great review but I really don't like the product. It will only allow voice dialing on the phone that is first paired with the bluetooth. I have an iPhone as a personal phone and an LG flip for a company phone. Anytime someone calls the LG it powers down and then back up. If I disconnect from the bluetooth of course it doesn't do that, there is something very strange with this unit. BTW, the Motorola Roadster allows voice dialing on both phones but the static on FM is brutal.

    We had a 1st gen Echo in our master bathroom for listening to music in the morning czcams.com/users/postUgkxABghAEkaIDGZfHRBH3D3rBrlraNmnC71 and while in the shower. I didn't realize how tinny and awful the sound output on the original Echo was until we replaced it with the Studio. It was a sonic upgrade far beyond what I was expecting. Just wow. I love it because it's like having speakers IN the shower. My friend likes it because the music is so loud that she can no longer hear me singing. So that's a win-win.
