- For few years I've been working in an upholstery shop, now I'm starting my own small business in my hometown.I am no master in upholstery nor video making. But my wish is for everyone could share and learn together.
For now I'm using half of my brother's workshop,so excuse me for the unorganized background.
I'll try to make my video better bit by bit,any comment or suggestion are accepted. Will do my best.

This is rebuilding the chair. At least the appearance. Beautiful work but too complicated for me. Thank you for showing us how to do this.
this is so frustrating to watch haha you made it look so easy. Been trying for months and it's clear there's a massive gap between a true craftsman's skills and everyone else. It's easy to miss how difficult something like this actually is and I'd call myself fairly handy but man this was great to watch. I was doing a lot of things inefficiently after seeing this
I was going to write a comment but you conveyed exactly what I was thinking... Thank you for saving me some time...
I don't understand how to do a single thing I just watched this man do. Great work man!
Amazing work. Probably better than new. I live in the U.S. and it is very hard to find real crafts men, especially ones who can do very high quality work such as yours. You have restored some of my faith in the human race.
Ever Greatful

We have plenty of people in the US who do this. We just don't want to pay them because it's cheaper to buy another piece. But they are around. I know a couple of custom upholstery shops around me.
Man, that is Awesome! Good technical skill and patience; all which I posses except the time..lol.
That's a high quality chair now awesome!
Thanks..
Looks great bit I don't think I can do this in my apartment lol
Its a great environmentally friendly work. I am afraid I simply do a cover for my chair. Just looking for ways to stop peeled paint to go around the place.
Thanks for this video, you do a great job! Excellent!
Very nice! Explaining the steps and materials as you go on the video will be very helpful. Great transformation, you'll be successful!
What an art and a great God-given talent. Sure hope you can make a decent living. Very impressive.
Nice work.
nice works, looks brand new
Awesome job! A definite professional! I could never imitate your talent.
Nice work!!
I wish there were people here in Australia who could do this, my chair looks like that chair before it is restored
There are, searching '...upholstery restorers...' reveals a bunch. NB I had my car seats recovered its a similar process.
How muchâ@@francistaylor1822
I love this!
Love it!!
I had to have my gaming chair reupholstered due to peeling in 2019, so it's so cool to watch how it's done. Unfortunately even the new upholstery started to peel off. I'm thinking next time I'm gonna ask for some heavy duty fabric instead because it's pain dealing with little black stuff that sticks to everything. :D
Best of luck with your business!
Yes, everything is made out of cheap materials, nothing is built to last, it's our fault, we want everything for cheaper than it costs to make quality.
that is really a fine craftmanship! keep up the good work! more power to you!
Thank you very much !!
Great Job
Nice job
Much appreciated :)
Perfect!
Freaking amazing work dude!!!

Great Job !
Thank You!!
great job! you do good work.
Thank you
Wow! Damn nice! Sure wish someone would offer this kinda service in my city.
Thanks..maybe you can learn upholstery as a hobby..where do you live?
Try a boat or car upholstery shop.
Great craftsmanship man! I wish I can send you my gaming chair so you can restore it for me lol
Good job brother greetings from jakarta indonesia!
Fine work. It would be nice to see more details of the stitching, like the lines and the circular pattern with the border. Also the armrest work is not shown.
5:54 When she says that she likes it rough.
In all seriousness, nice and informative video. Probably a lot of work for some people, but if you're going to replace leather and also sponge, you can practically make the most comfortable chair for cheap than what manufacturers offer you for idiotic prices.

terima kasih bro..
First my attention was the scissors are so good, I wish to know where to buy it :)
Thanks for sharing
Just some china 10 inch scissors.. cheap doesn't mean not good..
I know this is the right way to fix a chair, and I'm sure I could find a shop to do it... But it should have been made with real leather in the first place.
Beautiful work! My mother left us a small, light duty sewing machine. Can that work? Also, what kind of thread do you recommend to stitch the vinyl panels together? Thank you so very much!
terbaik bos!
Trima kasi bos
Mantap bos.. Mcm sy mau cuba pla atur sndri krusi ni..
Terima kasi bos..boleh bah..atur...klu ada pertanyaan tanya saja, sy jwp juga semampu yg boleh..
I really like your work, good luck, but I have a question, please, the dimensions of the chair, such as width and length, thank you
Can the stitching been done with a normal househeld sewing machine? I think your machine is heavy duty?
love your work. what is the name of that tool that you used to pull the strings on the bottom of the seat thru to the back?
We have a chair that's peeling like yours. I have everything I need to repair the chair, and watching this video helped me to see it isnât that difficult for someone with my skills to do. Only problem is, my husband ISNâT in the chair long enough for me to fix it. Other than that, you have great skills and it was really nice to see your work. Thanks for sharing.
Wow man. That looks amazing. Probably better than when chair was new! I have to do something with my chair. Would you be willing to help if I have some questions when I start working? I actually have 0 experience with refurnishing of that type but I would give my best to get something to decently
looking.
Sure man. I'll be sure to answer if i'm able to. Looking forward to your project.
I have similar chair that needs new upholstery. I am in Dallas, Texas and would pay some one to get this done for my chair. Let me know if possible.
very nice bro subbed
Thanks bro
@@SabahanUpholstery You're welcome :)
That is how you recover an office chair!
Thanks!!
I love these video. But, what was the saving vs just buying a new chair.
Its cheaper to only replace the cover then buying a new one..well if its just the cover though,if the owner want to replace the foam, the price will probably be almost like buying a new one if not more, depend on the foam grade..
Or maybe it has some sentimental value to the owner..
What adhesive do you use in the sprayer?
The chair looks amazing. đ
Thanks.. I used contact adhesive for sprayer..
How long did it take for the chair to wear to that point? 8-10ish years im thinking?
Yes its fine work. Could one ever spraypaint the upholstery instead of taking it of?
If the cover is fabric you can use a fabric spray paint..
@@SabahanUpholstery thankyou. Will do
Love that he did all that, and left the garbage padding that is in the seat
The chair cover needs to be sewn to its shape? How do you figure that? What happens if I donât sew the shape?
did you redo or get new padding?
do you think you can show in more details how do you measure and cut
I will try my best, thanks for the suggestion.. đđđ
Nice work! I too am just starting industrial sewing. Could you recommend a good quality scissors for leather and heavy vinyl? Thank you. Jeff
Glad to hear someone starting industrial sewing too. About the scissors, since I started doing upholstery I've never used a branded one, I only used a 10 inch chinese brand scissor and it lasted with me even until now. I've used it before with lighter leather, tarps and it works fine, but I wouldn't recommend using it with heavier leather though. I'm sorry for not being able to recommend something.
He should have changed the foam also
Mantholđ€
thankyou.....very3 much bro...
Please speak in your future videos. Explain what you are doing and why, what tools you are using, what mistakes to avoid
I probably would put sub, since Im not very good speaking in english..
nice work! what kind of spray did u use?
Thanks, Im using a 2mm nozzle spray gun..
I believe that was an adhesive spray. It looks like he used it to attach a thin foam padding to all the pieces
cantik
Trima kasih boss..
Whats better to buy a new chair or restore the original one with new upgraded items ? Same amount of $$?
If its just the cover,it is cheaper..But if you are planning to replace the foam as well,it might get more expensive depending on which grade/type of foam you choose.. Hope that helps...
what adhessive or bonding agent do you use ? what thinning agent do you use to make it compatible with a spray gun? TIA
I used a contact adhesive that was meant to be used with a spray gun, so I didn't used any thinning agent..
@@SabahanUpholstery thank you !
Sabahan? You from Malaysia?
Where location
What do you call the white material you sew with the faux leather? Is it a foam? Thanks.
Yes, it's a 1/4inch or 6mm foam with thin white cloth padding on one side..
â@@SabahanUpholstery Thank you.
Does any one know how to tighten a gaming chair arm it has came loose and I take the cover off but there nothing there to tighten it
Its hard to answer that..depend on the design, sometime other design need to be tighten from inside the chair..but im not really sure since I didnt know which type your chair is..you should probably bring it to nearest upholstery..
@@SabahanUpholstery There is always a place to tighten things, you just have to find it !!
@@SabahanUpholstery you were right it was inside the gaming chair I used a wrench to tighten it thanks for your help
How much is the cost of new upholstery??
Around $50
Yo, where is your shop located
Kota marudu, Sabah, Malaysia..
How much would it cost in materials to do this? Whatâs your over head?
From where Im from its around MYR80 approx $20.. in materials.. not included other little miscellaneous things...
@@SabahanUpholstery Damn thatÂŽs brutally cheap
@@jaconova overall I actually charge MYR180 (around 43USD) its probably still considered cheap in many other countries, but from where im from it would make you think twice to buy a new cheap gaming chair around the same price or to replacement the cover..a new cheap gaming chair is about 53USD I think..
probably costs lot more to rebuild it.
Berapa harga kalau ganti alas begitu tu?
Tgok jenis material jugak ne..
repair cost = buying 2 chair in American....
Same here in the UK. It's a shame. I hate to throw away things that could be repaired instead, but it's too skilled to do myself, and too expensive to get done for me.

its not pu since pu tend to peel..i use a faux leather that is not called pu..its not going to peel in the long run but will crack if not tended properly..
@@SabahanUpholstery what will be the cost to recover the chair with natural leather
@@Kanishk._7 depends on the leather used..leather also has many grades the cheapest one would be around RM200 to RM 400 (malaysian ringgit) at the time this video was made..right now im not really sure..I have stop doing upholstery for a few years..
