Absolutely stunning papaya plants, Joe! I’m still so surprised with how well they seem to do there with no artificial light. It’s a shame that papaya dropped off prematurely, but hopefully, some of the others will ripen 🤞. My papaya has been completely leafless all winter, it’s not died back which is a good sign, but hasn’t started growing again yet either. However, there are signs of buds developing on it so I’m keeping my fingers crossed 🤞
Thanks Peter. I think once they get over a certain size they are easier to look after. I’m hoping once I take them outdoors they’ll enjoy the warm temps we’re having. I’m glad your Papayas haven’t got die back, just leaf loss which should grow back in time. Woohoo 🥳 signs of flowers buds developing. Wishing you all the best this season with them 🙌🏾
I'm blown away by how healthy you've kept them indoors Joe, a great job. I wouldn't fancy carrying them downstairs without knocking the other fruits off 😱. I'm not sure such a prematurely dropped fruit will ripen properly but as you said could be grated into a Thai papaya salad or cooked as a vegetable 😋
Thanks Brett. To be honest, once they got to a certain height they’ve been a breeze to look after…apart from the appearance of spider mites 🙄 which I treat with an organic horticultural oil and soap spray. I just managed to bring them downstairs and outside without any remaining fruit dropping 😅 I’m hoping with the warmer temperatures the fruit will get larger and ripen 🙏🏽😊🌱
Thank you my friend. It’s warming up here in London, so I thought it may do them good being outdoors in the sunshine. Hopefully the remaining fruit will ripen for me 😀
It’s amazing how you have grown the big papaya plants from seeds, they looks so healthy and beautiful 😍I hope your fruits ripen a little more Thank you for this nice update Have a nice day dear Joe ☀️😘
Thank you Tina☺️ I just wish I could grow them outside all year round, but we can’t have every thing 😀 Yes, hopefully the fruits will get larger and ripen for me🙏🏽 Have a fantastic day ☀️😘❤️
😍😍 Hey if you plant the fruiting papaya tree into ground this summer. The fruits will reach maximum size as the roots can spread to their full potential. Then at the end of summer you can dig it up and put it back in the pot. I am not sure if papaya trees are perennial or if they just fruit once. But remarkable achievement, I am stunned. Congrats 👏😍
Hi Salama, what a very clever idea 🤩 My only problem is finding space in the garden to plant it 🤣 my other option would be to plant it in a larger pot than it’s in now. Thank you so much for your ideas it’s much appreciated. Joe 😊

Oh! And that’s a good idea to grate the unripe fruit into a Thai papaya salad 👍🏾
@@joestropicals6760 if only you knew a good chef 😉😂
Well done mate hopefully the fruit should grow faster when you put it outside, both trees looking amazing

Wow I didn't realise you could even grow papaya in the UK. I think I'll give it a go
Go for it 🤩🙌🏾🌱
Brilliant work Joe!
Thanks mate, I’m just hoping the rest of the fruit will hold and ripen 🙏🏽😀
Amazing tree, Joe.
@Moebius thanks. Hopefully the remaining fruit will hold on.

Wow I think they are going get taller
I think so too 🤣🌱☀️
Stunning tree.
Did you say “grown from seeds”!!! ? How old?
Do they grow true to type?
Thank you Sam☺️
I grew them from seed at least 5 years ago. I don’t think they grow tree to type but I haven’t really researched.
it might be better to have fewer fruits so the tree can focus the nutrients into a smaller but better yield.
I really hope so 😀
It would be fantastic if the fruit ripen for me 🙏🏽🌱
best of luck, crazy garden project :D@@joestropicals6760
