I work CS for a videogame company... we get 10.000s of these tickets each month.... no matter how many promts, warnings etc, the game adds, people manage to f... it up. At some point players need to learn, read and accept the consequences of their own actions.
2 step purchase: 1st click on the item u want to purchae and a 2nd on the confirmation of the purchase. now what? they want to add a 3rd step that ask "R U SURE?"
4th step verify password
5th step input code from Google authenticator
"Are you really sure?"
"Are you really REALLY sure you want to purchase this without regretting it after??"
take the L, then go to the money shop and buy the 10,000 gems pack for 19.99usd and call it a one-off if you're F2P

Alternatively, if you buy the $5 monthly log-in pack, you get 3000 gems plus 330 paid gems, provided you log in every day. After I made the mistake of buying a box of 1H Core Dust for 200 gems (thought it was for credits lol), I did that.
We all know that it is a noob trap, but you can't just accidently click on it, you need to confirm, I smell BS.
Also even as a noob, you have to be really slow to not realize that 2K gems is a ton for a single Item, that's the stupidest choice, even the 5,500,000 gear is a scam, even as a casual, how, how do you buy that?

I almost did the same mistake although with the "favorite item season 1" I though for a second I will get the favorite SSR item for laplace, I'm glad I actually read the description and realize it was a SSR nikke instead of the favorite item / treasure. I'm so glad I didn't waste 200 golden tickets for nothing.
As for the clicks im glad I play on pc so i just press "esc" everytime I want to exit those menus.
The guy who made this mistake is the reason there are signs that say don't drink gasoline at the pumps.
Okay first of all it’s at the bottom of the list. The free stuff is at the top followed by maybe the sticker thing still at the top row. Shouldn’t even bother scrolling down further than that. Then there’s the confirmation button to buy. You deserve it if you buy 2k gem purple gears lol they should remove it though, it’s a redundant waste of space. Maybe add something actually useful like doll materials, the blue ones at the verrryyy least.
The sole purpose of it being there is to bait new players into spending their gems.
Every idle game does this, so I assume it's actually fairly effective in eating up brand new players "Start dash" gem accumulation.
Customer support probably don't even have the tool to refund those items. They 'd have too send the request to the dev team to mess with the database and it would be a waste of time for them instead of spending their time on coding creating assets etc..
You'd be surprised. They likely have an expedited system in place to push these requests through.
Player retention is incredibly important for gacha games, especially those with idle mechanics.
A 2000 gem refund isn't much of a loss if the player in question continues playing, where if they just say "no lol", they're far more likely to just quit.
As a f2p, I just think this whole shebang is a bit stupid. Id understand the guy's frustration if it was paid gems, but yeah, spending that amount of gems without a second thought just makes the guy Dummy Dummer McDumbpants

That item in the shop is legacy 1.0 for whales to buy right away. There are so many 1.0 issues that persist to this day.

I've made mistakes on my account. I would never imagine contacting customer support to roll back my account because of my own faults.

While it is the player's fault for accidentally buying the gear in shop when there's a warning beforehand, that doesn't mean that the shops shouldn't be updated as soon as possible for most players are in the later stages of the game. Maybe instead of the purple-tier gears, they could be the gold-tier gears with prefixed manufacturers because you can get the normal ones from the Outpost to avoid repetitiveness.
Aside from the general shops, the molds should be updated as well, the SR nikkes and R Nikkes have no value to be there.
Honestly if the player is careless enough to click on obvious unnecessary items in the shop that is on the player, not the game. If this happened on PC that is definitely on the player but if this was on the phone, it's still on the player for not paying attention to what is happening on the screen. Does it suck for the players that are that careless....sure but i'm sorry it's on that player to pay attention what they are purchasing in a GACHA GAME.
I avoid purchases involving gems and I check for this all the time.

I also made that mistake once, but luckily it was only 200 gems for a box of 1H Core Dust. I mistakenly thought it was for credits instead of gems. It didn't really affect me much since I still had over 100k gems, but it was slightly annoying. Totally my fault, and I learned from it. Big oof to the OP who lost 2000 gems on some crap gear.
Genshin had taught me well to respect the premium currency. Doubt I'd ever make a mistake such as this. Everything goes to a limited banner only, unless that currency is only for specific crappy banner.
Anyway, 2000 is like 7 pulls, it won't "destroy account", however unpleasant it is.

It's both parties's fault. Nikke needs to remove these items that are sold at insanely terrible prices. You get a warning with the "are you sure you want to buy it?" so it's on you for not paying attention.
The whole item shop is basically a scam, though. It's garbage and predatory just for existing, let's not defend this.
It's not a critical loss. Any serious player should get 2000 free gems from the special arena every few days. It absolutely is a dark pattern though. Sad to see Shift Up using these traps.

How?? This is no mistake... The only possible mistake i can think of is me accidentally pressing the home button when trying to exit the event screen but not to the whole screen lobby just to re-enter the event page again
The one thing that happened to me was, when doing interception EX, ive already beat the boss once so i wanted to "quick attack" the other 2 tries but missclick and had to play the stage all over again. At least it was just some seconds of my life, not 2k gems

Ha ha ha, the ironi is that those gears use to be a 1k gems purchase not to long ago, at first they were like 300 gems or something like that, maybe even less but apparently people buy it, so the price increase because of demand and supply reasons, in the future when i heard or read some 1 buys a 3k gems or more 4 one purple or blue piece of gear im just gonna lmao it. 😂🎉
