Hi Andy,
Great video. I've been watching your other videos too and they're all great. Just one side note, important to bear in mind in future videos not to mix up terms like cashback and rewards as it can get confusing sometimes. Eventhough they are techincally same thing they are practically different.
Thanks for the awesome videos!
Great video, big fan! Got my chase card coming from your recommendation 👍🏼 too good not to use for the first year, will be good to see what they offer in the near future! Barclaycard avios looks a good shout after.
Thanks Ben! Yeah, once my 12 months is up it feels like the natural non-Amex option.
Great video - thanks. It's really great to see Barclays/Barclaycard stepping up their Rewards products... Since they discontinued the Barclays Visa Infinite card to new applicants, I've been waiting for them to release a competitor to Amex products; I will get one of them for sure as it does make a great fallback.
Yeah, and it’s a good in between option if you decide to cancel Amex and wait 2 years for a new welcome offer!
@@BeCleverWithYourCash bro can you please tell me can I pay Amex gold reward card balances with my chase debit card and still earn 1% cash back on top of Amex reward points
I signed up to the Avios plus £20pm and hit the £10,000 spend to unlock my upgrade voucher.
In comparison to the Amex companion voucher, it is rubbish!
Main points are… upgrade voucher has nearly no reward availability.
You also have to fly direct, for example…
With companion voucher I can fly from Edinburgh to New York via Heathrow. With the upgrade I can only use it Heathrow to New York, meaning I have to get a separate flight from Edinburgh to London.
interesting
Hi Andy, thanks for the video and concise information. It would be beneficial if you also covered eligibility for the cards mentioned in the video. For example, to be eligible for the Barclaycard Avios Plus, one has to be a Premium Account holder with Barclays. However, to be eligible for that account one has to have a minimum of £75,000 yearly income or hold £100k in savings. This could be an obstacle for many.
Great vid thanks
Glad it was useful!
I have a Barclaycard platinum & just changed to avoid plus using the Barclays app.
Great vid Andy. For me the chase is still out front because 1) you get cash…. Not some points that then are subject to rules. 2) you get the cash back instantly whereas for example my Amex only pays out once a year
Absolutely, I think you’re spot on
But chase is debit card
it’s annoying the food bonus isn’t for existing customers when you “upgrade”. i’m already a barclays customer it says 1000 points if you spend 1k then the black card is 5000 points if you spend 3k.
Asda credit card is good. 1% cash back and it’s credited straight away. The app shows the total saved and for each transaction. You carnt go wrong.
Hi there! I always have this thought! Can I use credit card to pay my rent my personal trainer if it’s like bank transfers?
Hi Andy, if I have a Barclaycard debit card, would I need to cancel this to get the avios bonus with if I was to go for the credit card.
Hi I got this card today but couldn't find any offers?
If i have the American Express Preferred Reward Gold credit card and I had 20,000 Amex membership points, how many AVIOS points would that convert to?
I just took out my Barclaycard, like 1 month ago. It is a platinum, no Avios joining bonus, Is it worth affecting my credit cancelling this card?
What about the HSBC world elite mastercard?
You forgot the 2 for 1 Companion Voucher with BA AMEX
Yeah, it’s not meant to be a full comparison with the BA Amex cards, just the initial cashback and welcome bonus rates for all the leading reward/cashback cards
Interesting video Andy… not for me I think, too much faff and like others have said I prefer to use my chase card.
Yeah, right now it’s the welcome bonus on the paid card which could be worth considering if you can’t get the Amex bonus. But then the Chase 12 months end…
@@BeCleverWithYourCash can we apply for Chase credit cards living in the UK?
andy can you please tell me, can I pay Amex gold reward card balances with my chase debit card and still earn 1% cash back on top of Amex reward points
Sure
Hey Andy I’m 17 years old. I was thinking of opening a Monzo account for my everyday spending and another current account which will be where my salary goes into. I’m in between Santander, Barclays and HSBC which one would you recommend. Thanks.
Go with Santander as it is a modern bank with good facilities. HSBC is alright but my recommendation is definitely Santander
Can someone in Germany use these cards?
Any reason why you don't cover the virgin Atlantic cards, one of the best non amex/ avios cards out there and for the paid one 15,000 points after the first purchase. Lower annual fee too
You can’t really use those points for anything other that flights, but Avios can be switched to Nectar for use in Sainsbury’s, eBay etc so can be compared to other cashback credit cards
Avios can also be redeemed with Qatar Airways and other airlines part of the Oneworld alliance
Also, the points can be used for Virgin Rewards or Virgin Red, both aren’t limited to flights or general travel options. There are many shopping, entertainment, etc discounts/offers.
I agree. Exchanging Avios for Nectar is not a great deal in my opinion. The best redemptions are for flights, and yes Virgin is actually a very good airline and having that card is good.
Any idea about retention offers on amex gold?
Unlikely that they’ll offer anything and you’ll have to pay the £140 annual fee
If you book flights using the card with BA, do you get avios from the flight booking as well as using the avios credit card?
Yes
No
Maybe
The card is not even contactless. Shocking
wait what?
@@thegadgetzone it wasn't until later months that Barclays added support for apple/google pay
Hello I have barclays avios credit card. I have used it to booked my flight on Singapore airlines. Will I get an avious points ?
