    Pete Cowan refers to everything as the delivery position- where the club parallels the ground a millisecond before impact - ball position at address is vital - amateur golfers generally have the ball way too far back and instinctively hit far too much down on the ball - nice description- some good points here

    Great explanation Andy! It would be great if you could teach us the follow through, when crossing the right hand over the left one

    Clever message Andy on lowering the right shoulder. This entire session is helping me on what I've been trying to learn. Thanks-Russ

    I'm an (overly) passionate single figure golfer and tried pretty much every swing thought over the years and naturally have huge variances in results - however, I've just recently gone back to the simplest greatest one tip (for every player) probably ever given, by the late great Harvey Penick - his "magic move", and I'm playing much more consistently again... and broken down I think your vid / Pete's instruction is basically the magic move... good stuff - I like the tip about rocking the driver clubhead from centre to the ball at address too👍

    Excellent explanation Andy on how the transition is different for the iron than driver. I like the way you brought "tilt" into the equation when talking about the driver. I've been working on the tilt as well as dropping the right shoulder down, keeping the right elbow tucked into my right side. I've tried positioning the driver a clubhead behind the ball at address in order to achieve the upward swing to the tee ball. This is still a work in progress! As always Andy, Well Done!!!

    Set up is 90%, I still have problems when tee box is angled or slants so feet are either below or above the ball. Mulligan is king...

    Steep swingers don't understand that the right arm releases down instead of across with a turn. Feels like you straighten the right elbow at the ball

    Hi Andy, so you are not trying to rotate your hips? In other words if you get in a good top of backswing and start down by pressuring into the ground without the shoulder rotating out, the hips will naturally clear when they need to? When I try and copy this move, I am not getting as open as you are so I'm assuming maybe my backswing is wrong

    Does Petes "hand rotation" work here in the same way it does for irons? He talks about from the top, the hands will start to rotate down towards the ball in a compressed fashion. I know we dont compress the driver but curious if that move works here? It looks like around 4:40 you are doing it so I wasnt sure!! Please let me know!

    Still working hard on the transition using the drills from your previous videos but looking at my swing in slow motion it's definitely my lower half causing my shoulders and arms to to get infront of my body and causing the club to get too steep. Have you any drills to help prevent the lower half from moving towards the ball?

    Is there a difference you feel if you're pushing the handle or pulling it which is a better feel?

    • @andycartergolf
      @andycartergolf  Před rokem +1

      Personally I feel the push down from hands, to arms, and shoulders but you need to find what works best and brings the club to the best delivery position

    • @Samec37
      @Samec37 Před rokem

      @andycartergolf I want to work on feeling more of a handle pull feel I believe. Just on practice swings it feels like it's faster and less guided if that makes sense.

      Learnt is also the past tense of the word learn. It's just that in North America "learned" is commonly used. Whereas in the UK "learnt" is frequently used.

    • @hunkyhaggis2161
      @hunkyhaggis2161 Před 11 měsíci

      It's not evolving, it's being degraded due to low education standards.

    You tell us to start the swing by driving your arms straight down but what keeps you from driving the club directly into the ground unless you are moving your body forward??? There is no room to clear

    • @andycartergolf
      @andycartergolf  Před 11 měsíci

      Its a feel not a literal movement.
      Your body will start to transition and rotate towards the target
      Most golfers get stuck with shoulders following hips hence my explanation
