  • In this video we’re talking about MIDI and how to make Chords, Chord progressions, and Melody lines in Ableton. This is a Beginner lesson and we’ll be covering a little Music Theory, but don’t let that scare you, it is very basic and will set you up for future success in music! This video is a great starter package if you’re new to the world of Ableton, as it is very much a “no stupid questions” zone and I do not presume you have any experience with Chords, Piano, Midi or Theory in Ableton!

Excellent to hear! The channel has kind of pivioted to creative AI tools, but I’m always happy when someone runs across the old Ableton content! I still use it almost every day!

Hi Tim, another good video! You're slowly convining me I need to pick up a copy of Ableton, so make sure they pay you royalties...

Thanks so much, Mat! And y'know, that whole contest thing on the first video was kind of a bust-- I didn't realize you don't have a copy of Ableton! I'm perfectly happy declaring you a Winner (in more ways than one!), since you've been so supportive here! If you'd like a copy of Lite, just shoot me an email at citizentim at gmail dot com, and I'll swing you the code! Again, thank you so much for watching!

Hey Tim, I'm new to DAWs and trying to learn Ableton. I've watched a ton of videos and have "slowly" learned a lot but after watching your guitar/ableton videos plus this one - I just wanted to say, I really got a lot out of yours! You have a knack for explaining things clearly that doesn't zoom over my head but you also touched on a lot of important points that others either skimmed over or missed completely. I think you should keep making more of these Ableton guitar videos as I still have a LOT to learn.😃 I primarily play acoustic fingerstyle guitar (no pickup). Would love to see some tips on adding that to the mix. I know it's a long shot. LOL Thanks for your videos!

What great teaching skills. I learned more from your series of videos than anything else on the internet. I think these should be part of Abelton! It would clear up a lot of confusion for newbees.
