- I've been thinking about doing a video with this audio for a while, and I impulsively made this at 3 in the morning as a result.
Blackstar's guilt over his past actions (notably Stonefur's execution) and his fear of becoming like the past Shadowclan leaders are both really interesting aspects to his character, so I figured I might do something surrounding Stonefur's acceptance of the situation.

i love the portrayal of blackstar's emotions here, it isn't super over the top like he's breaking down or completely neutral either. it is the perfect balance of confused and lost, like he was thinking back on what happened and almost didn't believe it was real once it was over. beautiful work!

I can relate to that, I lash out and do stupid things then I don't remember it being real, I am aware it happened but it doesn't feel real.
Masterpiece. Blackstar has always been one of my fav characters. I liked how he grew from being a follower of evil Tigerstar to a good, loyal leader. And I was glad the books had Stonefur's death. It showed that people can change through time.

Plot twist: Blackstar's subconscious can only refer to it as an "accident" because acknowledging how it really happened will cause him to break down in despair

I still wish they gave more focus to how guilty Blackstar must've been for Stonefur's death.
It's like a prime start to how he became and what he had to grow away from.

It’s really heavy what Blackstar did and yet he still has to be a leader and make the right choices. I really like the way you showed his reaction of guilt but also confusion. Like he forgets that was him, too, and not just someone else in another time who had to kill Stonefur. This is some quality animation here!

Edit: Need to correct some info on Blackfoot/star and some continuity errors in my blurb.
This animation truly is underrated. It deserves more views. When Stonefur's spirit arrives he doesn't look angry or sad just, blank. He only wants an answer, not a reprisal of Blackstar's crimes. And Blackstar - he isn't sobbing or screaming upon realizing whose spirit he's speaking to. He's just in regret and perhaps, a little confused. He achieved leadership and part of his way there was being Tigerstar's right hand man and killing Stonefur for being a half-Clan cat. He became leader but, at what cost? Does he even deserve to be leader?
Blackstar was younger, still just a warrior, ambitious and willing to do anything to climb to the top. But as a leader he has more experience and doesn't want to witness any more death after the traumatizing events involving Tigerstar, which is explored in more depth in Leopardstar's Honor. Blackfoot was surrounded by fighting and death upon being made deputy by Brokenstar and, in a way, he owes his leadership to both Tigerstar and Brokenstar. Without Tigerstar having brought Blackfoot into the Half Clan genocide and Brokenstar's background influence, he'd never have become leader and there's no telling who would have taken his place, or what would have proceeded.
Seeing Blackstar react with just, shock, is perfect for his character. He wouldn't be driven to anger and a need for justice like Firestar. He wouldn't want to withdraw into himself and avoid emotional contact like Onestar. He wouldn't have closed his borders or tried to act tough after the death of half her Clan like Mistystar. He wouldn't have tried to prove a victim complex of a Clan that they're better than every other Clan because they had to move territories like Leafstsr. He simply admits it to himself and in that moment, realized what Stonefur's spirit is trying to tell him.
He's denying his own guilt and he must face it.
Blackstar did many terrible things upon entering the Half Clan genocide. At some point, Blackstar had to have come to attonements with himself and those he's hurt, dead or alive. I'd love to see that explored more in a Super Edition but, I think the Erins just don't have the creativity or ideas for it right now. They're publishing Onestar's Confession in September and they have a new arc, A Starless Clan. It doesn't seem they have space in their writing right now to explore a character that's dead. All they said was, "Blackstar joined StarClan and no longer has any involvement in the plot goodbye".
Um, Blackstar was Clan-born, he used to Brokenstar's deputy but became rogue as he followed Brokenstar into exile. As for his struggles, at least the early ones, were covered in the novella Blackfoot's Reckoning. And Leopardstar NEVER lied about Stonefur's death or closed her borders- WHAT?! Dude, when was the last time you read the books? xD
Blackstar is clan-born, it is canon, but his faith in starclan has never been at its peak, he was almost like a wandering soul until he realized he needed their guidance.
I can't be bothered to edit the comment but I meant to write Mistystar about closing the borders, as she did after Darktail killed like half her Clan. While Leopardstar never lied about Stonefur's death but she wasn't very open about it.
Keep in mind I'm 20 and I was obsessed with this series at 8-11. Still love it and own a lot of the books but I don't have the same free time to read them all to ensure all my facts are correct. But hey, thanks for correcting me! Genuinely. There's still some stuff in this mess of a story line I have wrong and I never got to read the full novella.
In my fuzzy memory I recalled him as a previous rogue but, I'm fine in being wrong on that. The story line in these books is confusing and I'm missing some context but, I tried. Thanks for correcting my info.

Blackfoot served under brokenstar in into the wild and once he was defeated Blackfoot became one of the rogues who left because he didn’t think nightstar could make shadowclan good enough, eventually tigerstar tracked down all of brokenstars rogues and waited for nightstar to die before taking over shadowclan and eventually creating tigerclan.

Honestly this is especially prevalent when you look at Blackstar toward the end of his life, if Onestar and Blackstar were to have changed places in that poll, I think his super eddition would have been on par with Tallstar's Revenge and Crookedstar's Promise when looking at stories of that type, especially when looking at his perspective from the Great Battle onward given he was in his last years. I mean his Novella would have also been apart of the story so I would like to think in the scenario where he got a super eddition after he died he would meet Tall Shadow again because I feel in his final days he was kind of like Tall Shadow at her lowest after Shaded Moss died and Clear Sky dominated the Forest, it would have been so good.

Ahhh, I love Blackstar. Honestly my favorite character. I haven’t read his novella, but as soon as I saw the end, I knew what was going on. I love his facial expressions. I feel this is a very accurate betray of his character as obviously he had a lot of weight on his shoulders. Very lovely

Okay, so this happened back in the Last Hope, I think? The grey Starclan cat is Stonefur. Bascially, Stonefur and two Riverclan apprentices were put on "trial" by Tigerstar for being "Half-clan" cats, and Stonefur was offered the chance to live if he killed the apprentices. He refused, so Tigerstar sent another warrior, Darkstripe, to kill him. Despite being starved and exhausted, Stonefur was able to fight off Darkstripe, but then Tigerstar ordered Blackstar (at the time Blackfoot) to finish him off. And he did.

Lmao it's a long series. Basically Tigerclaw (now leader of ShadowClan) ordered Darkstripe and Blackfoot(star) to kill Stonefur because he's half-clan. He does it, but it's later revealed that Blackfoot is ashamed of what he did
