I used this one for my Italian documents ("and the Comune sent back the Euros I enclosed" ) along with my nonnas vital records and the "How to obtain your C-File" which both worked as advertised and they are free. And finally, it took almost 5 years with the COVID backlog, but I am now an Italian Citizen. priceless.

Wow! This was a 2 year ago response. However, I'm thinking that some form of postage funds is required now.
2021...it took 2-3 months and I expected it to be slow because of the pandemic. But this worked. No postage, no money, I asked for four copies and I received four copies. The only thing I had was all the correct information. I did give them an email address to yell at me but no problems.

if you do not follow nature's god then go ahead and get a birth certificate however you see fit. i think citizenship should be naturally born, though. not artificially controlled through entitlements that are forced upon people according to bloodlines or territorial birthrights.

Wow! Very helpful video. Unfortunately, when I went to the communi-italiani website the comune shown on Wikipedia was not listed. I saw some similar ones. The town my grandfather is from is Corigliano, Calabro. On Wikipedia it shows the Province as Cosenza, and the Comune as Corigliano-Rossano. But the closest thing I can find on the above mentioned website is Comune di Corigliano Calabro. Help me please!

Request a marriage certificate from the town where the bride lived in Italy. Often, a couple gets married in the bride’s hometown.

I was astonished that of all the small hill towns in Italy you chose Musellaro for this example as my LIRA is from Musellaro, too. My other ancestors are from nearby Civitella Casanova and Salle. Are you Abruzzese?

Do you have similar information on how to submit a request for marriage certificate? I imagine it would go to the same office if they were married in the same town they were born. Also, do you believe enclosing a letter along with the application form is necessary?
I love your videos. Unlike other videos on the same topic, you actually give a clear and concise path to take in order to obtain duel citizenship. I do have a question, but first here is my situation. My grandfather immigrated to the United States and my mother, his daughter was born in the U.S. before he became a citizen of the United States, so I need the original Naturalization document as well as his original birth certificate from Italy, I understand that, but do I need the original birth certificates for my mother and I? Also, are all of these important documents sent back to me after the process is complete? Thanks in advance for your help.
The documents are not sent back to you and depending on the consulate where you are applying, they will not accept photocopies of your documents. So it's important to order extra official documents so you can keep the originals. Hope that helps! I just found that out today as well.

You can try as well. But I attempted to contact the comunes and no success. Imma give it a try and send normal mail. Since in my case, the comune and town are really small.

This information is wonderful. I followed the instructions and it worked! However, it was an abstract of the original birth certificate and what I really wanted, in addition to the birth certificate, is an address of the house where they lived. Is there anyway to write back asking for this information? thank you-

Hey! this is so useful info. I actually did get the papers for my great grand father a while ago but it is asking to be legalized by the curia and the prefettura. Can I just assume that it ? (its got a stamp on it, I ordered the papers years ago so Im not sure if this is something new for the application! ( really dont know if youre gonna find this questions and have time to answer but if you do I will be forever grateful!)

They can reply by email too. Print the document AND a copy of the email and you are all set.

If his birth cert is in Italy, you should be able to request it using this form :)
Please check with your particular consulate to see if you need the certified "Birth Certificate " instead of the "Extract".

If I could ask for your help...Great Grandfather born in Santa Maria del Giudice, Lucca, Tuscany, Italy. I believe the province is Lucca. However, there is no wikipedia for it, I see nothing for the Comuni. :-( Even if the Province of Lucca has the Indirizzi Municipi that you mention, how can I know which Comune?
What is the best source to use to look for the town of birth for an ancestor that was born very late 1800s (1893) in Potenza and came to the U.S. sometime between 1902 and 1911 and was naturalized in 1945. Thank you in advance.
In the driver's license is the picture and name the most important part? Can we block the actual driver's license numbers when we scan it in?

Are there any searchable sites within Italy for birth records? How big of an envelope do you need? Business envelope size? Sounds like a silly question but one little thing can cause a setback.

When putting in my Grandfathers birth date it shows dd/mm/yy. He was born in 1891. Can I list it as 17/April/1891? or should I list it as 17/04/91
Hello! My mother sent me a copy of a fax she received from the Ufficio - Stato Civile from San Mauro Forte. It is directed toward her at a hotel in Italy. The fax is notarized at the bottom, dated 27 March 2001. It contained the birth certificates for both of our ancestors (great-grandparents) that immigrated to the US, and the birth certificate for my great-great grandmother on my great -grandfather's side. Is this good enough for documentation for dual-citizenship?

HI I am trying to follow your directions for locating the province and commune for my grandfather from a certificato di nasciita. The best I can make out from the italian script is the Commune of Girgenti Capio Provenzia. This however does not lead me to the commune address when I follow your directions!

My two grown sons and I are seeking Italian citizenship thru my grandfather who immigrated to the United States from Italy in/about 1905.
We think we are eligible:
--My grandfather immigrated in 1905 according to Ancestry records. He became nationalized sometime between 1930 and 1940 according to those two censuses. In 1930 he was AL, in 1940 NA.
--My father was born in 1910 in Ohio. My dad did serve in the US Navy during WWII and he was asked by his Sicilian family, perhaps in the mid 1960's, to sign over a small house in Bagheria to relatives living there.
I don't know if military service or if the transfer of the deed to the property would require that he relinquish the right to Italian citizenship. We want to be sure about that before we go much further... or, we accept the risk and get busy obtaining documents!
I have a couple of questions.
1) We haven't been able to obtain an appointment with the consulate. For me, in Oregon, the appointment should be in San Francisco. For our son, who resides in Orange County, California, the appointment should be in Los Angeles, and for our other son, the appointment should be in New York. But, shouldn't we apply together? Is that possible? What would the consulates prefer?
2) I am attempting to get the birth certificate for my grandfather. I know I am to write to the Ufficio di Stato Civile in the comune where he was born. I have only Palermo as his birthplace. The provincia di Palermo has 82 comuni! What would you advise regarding this?

I tried to get these documents for my brother in law but crickets! There is a rumor the cognome was changed but the birth date and commune are correct. Now, it may require an in person visit?
Also read that they want email only through PEC. Any suggestions?

it's not possible to be born in italy or any other country. we learn about italy and other countries after we are already born. citizenship to italy should come naturally: as a matter of choice. you should not seek to betray nature's god by claiming to be entitled to italy, where others are not, according to blood or territorial birth markers.
