    9:51 I think when I went from Oblivion to Skyrim, I was like "where are all the classes? where is the customization?". They just simplified everything. I know people will say you end up fitting in the playstyle you play anyway, like if you use more magic or more melee it will morph into this,. but there was a charm to have all these classes and options to have a starting vision of what your character could be, even if it changes in the process.
    Then I realized things were even more interesting in previous games, like I went a bit back and played Daggerfall and then a lot of Daggerfall Unity, and it was so rich, but yeah you need study a lot to make a good character. Certain skills mattered in your level up too in specific ways. But that's the fun for RPGs for me, if I can replay and start with different builds and not restricted in the same playstyles.

    Something about these smaller channels with 200 subscribers putting out 200,000 subscribers quality ES retrospectives just makes it that much more enjoyable to watch because the passion shows through for these incredible games.

    I have to say, the favorite menu really helps with Skyrim's combat. It's still a bit of an interruption, but much better than going into the core menu.

    NGL, I wouldn't mind a video covering the other two -- Skyrim and Morrowind. But I don't think a direct comparison would be all that fair. Sure, they're similar, but I've always felt like each game differed enough from one another to present its own unique traits.
    Oblivion, for example, seems to blend the series aspects together near perfectly, while still retaining the jank that makes these games so loveable. Morrowind is an almost perfect open world RPG -- Emphasis on the 'RPG' aspect. And Skyrim is more a game development engine than it is a solid game anymore; seriously, I've seen mods take it from 'Devil May Cry' to 'The Sims' in terms of game style. Daggerfall, to add an extra point, is the only randomized dungeon crawler I can never tire from -- I've spent literal hours in one dungeon, and it felt like bloody minutes.
    I'd be interested in viewing your thoughts on the matter discussing your favorite -- and least favorite -- parts of each game.

    4:17 "Paladin" Proceeds to Use 'Summon Skeleton'. Most TTRPG DMs:"REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE"
    Edit: My first char in Oblivion ended up being a stealth archer build(bosmer) And yea....it was stupid OP.

  • @greatbrandini3967
    @greatbrandini3967 Před měsícem

    Archery was still pretty good in Oblivion. Where the game really gets bonkers is when you craft tons of potions from cheap/free food, go make some armor with 100% chameleon (permanent invisibility), and decide to spec your character for all combat skills, then never use them.
    At that point, you've maxed out your best skills, enemies can't find you, and you own everything in the game.... yeah the leveling in Skyrim was magnitudes better than Oblivion.

  • @furioni333
    @furioni333 Před měsícem

    Well, never played skyrim, but archery feels great. If you combine it with alchemy and poison your arrows, it's op as all hell : D People always sleep on alchemy, and alchemy makes the game soo much easier.

    I have played every default class in oblivion, testing each until the end of the main quest. Archer is pretty... ok (?) assassin is VERY OP from my experience, i'd say more OP than Skyrim stealth archer builds. But MAGES were BROKEN. Especially with mods.

    Haha, that's similar vibes when someone says Dark Souls 2 was best Souls Like. And everybody is like wtf?
    Hehe,. I like both DS2 and Oblivion is also underrated imho. Normies praised Skyrim and skipped Oblivion. Veterans remember Daggerfall and Morrowind. But I think also Oblivion was amazing at the time and maybe because it was my first introduction to the series.

    at least 3 or 4 copies of Skyrim, also yes, oblivion is my favorite also; Nearly 700 hours of playtime, and still, i ALSO have never used the bow :O

  • @insertusername9755
    @insertusername9755 Před měsícem

    Bows fire very slowly, making leveling them painful. Might be as busted as in skyrim, if you factor in custom spells, for example chameleon. Granted, I played archer only once.

  • @Mediocrityexe
    @Mediocrityexe Před měsícem

    Both Oblivion and Skyrim have fun archery, just that Skyrim's is slightly easier. Oblivion has better alchemy though especially when you can do it anywhere as long as you have the ingredients and have a mortar and pestle. Also, all food items have a restore fatigue effect, unlike Skyrim where food has no alchemical properties. However, you need to level up your alchemy if you want to make more potions, as it's limited at first, unlike Skyrim where it's infinite from the start.

    • @greatbrandini3967
      @greatbrandini3967 Před měsícem

      Alchemy was so busted in Oblivion. I'd run around all of the cities, but all of the food, craft 500+ potions, then sell them all off. IDK if vendors had "infinite" money on all versions, but the PS3 would never add or subtract gold from NPCs, meaning I could continuously sell ~20 potions to the same vendor.

    Oblivion sucks. Same 3 or 4 mobs over and over same boring copy pasted Oblivion gates. Broken scaling, the more you play they weaker you feel. I don't understand why everyone seems to be glamorizing it to be so amazing

      True. Also, there isn't nearly as much racism in Oblivion as there is in the other games, and that knocks it down several more points

      @Ziris1 for 80% of the game its literally there is that imp, triceratops and the daedra in the same boring oblivion gates. Then at the end you also get that annoying tornado-rock elemental. In my opinion The game is not fun.
