  • Hey all!
I know, I know I always say it's been a busy week lol! We had two broken poles today 😟... The first one, a garbage truck went over an embankment and right through a pole! Too many environmental and work safe guys to gather any footage on that one :/.
    Anyhow, another late night!
    Be safe all!

Hydrovac is like a combination of a septic tank pumping truck and a pressure washer 😊

We have a couple in our city, I had to go look up what they were when I first spotted one awhile back.

Thank you for taking time to make these videos and for the work you do. The weather can really make things a mess. Tornadoes and high winds around here tonight, so our linemen will be busy as well. Please stay safe, and God bless.

Hydro-vac instead of hand digging a pole hole? I might make a suggestion here for the same thing here? Thanks Aaron!
You got way more snow than we have.
Yesterday it was in the 30's. Today it was near 50 degrees F. Today felt like a gorgeous spring day?
Keep the electrons flowing & the meters turning. 👍👍👊🏻👊🏻

When the first 2 or 3 ft of ground is frozen hand digging efforts are ineffective. Because it is winter and the ground is frozen the htdrovac water will be heated. Chipping at frozen ground is an experience everyone should try just to know how hard the frozen ground is.

Tailings from a local mine, or tailings from the hole you dug with the hydrovac?

    • @Bobsdecline

Had the tailings brought in. We always keep a few ton on hand at the office, from a local rock quarry.

What is a huff? In the Navy a huff is used to start jets on the flight deck.

Just curious, how do you ground in the winter with the ground being frozen?

    • @PRR1954
      @PRR1954 Před 4 měsíci +1

"...how do you ground in the winter with the ground being frozen?"
Frozen dirt will conduct, a little. It isn't like warm dirt is a great conductor. Wet and salty dirt conducts pretty OK. Power systems do not "need" a connection to ground to work, but it improves safety. The other thing in utility work is that you (try to) have a ground on almost every pole and most houses, all bonded together.
