As a Lineman on the East Coast of Canada there isn't much I haven't seen . From the richest to the poorest everybody needs power. I decided to start a channel not only to share some of the crazy stuff I see from day to day as a trouble response truck, but also to help educate people on how things work in our world . I also will be uploading videos on tools and equipment, as well as techniques within the Line trade .Along with videos about powerlines I'll be sharing videos about many other random things that I may have found interesting , or funny :) I have an adventurous group of family and friends whom all love to try new things :) Subscribe to my channel as I try and keep a steady stream of new and entertaining or educational videos!

Tree lands on home and powerlines

While we're far from being arborists, we as lineman remove trees from lines all the time. Before I started cutting you could hardly see the home through all the foliage. Many of the branches I was able to safely remove one a time, reliving much of the strain. After the moments captured in this video; I used three 10k lbs straps and come alongs to secure the tree at multiple points before contin...

Thing is, if companies don't start exploring these options, they'll only get left behind. It's an emerging technology that certainly has it's place. Milwaukee - M18 Fuel telescoping pole saw!
Aaron- just wanted to say that these vids you are making make us customers VERY appreciative of what you do and the expertise that it takes to do it! You have an eagle eye pal! Nice work and keep them coming. I live in NW Indiana (NIPSCO territory).
probably got wired in reverse😢
The real trick is putting that log back together after they're done. 😅
Nice job! Stay safe!
I've watched a few arborists dabbling with the electric saws over the years. The industry is continuing to advance. Milwaukee in particular seems to actively solicit feed back then engineers to it. It is a very different work experience when they are opening up a new tree to fell with an electric saw. So quiet. Better communication. I'm sure residents don't even know what is occurring until they pull out the big guns to take the tree down. As for demonstrations... Really like to see known industry standard gas saws in action. The fact I don't hear the crew clearing a flooded saw is telling.
Is it legal for people to get street lights that have been thrown out?
It's just something I noticed no sleeves in zone. Is not required at the co op you work for
NYS lineman , good job just use face shield protect yourself from debris and other crap blasting your way good shxt Ryan
Pretty wild seeing how the top of that pole was split. Years ago, we were heading in to work and saw a lightning strike on a power line. Flash, cloud of smoke and sparks and the span of wire just disappeared.
Grounding is a subject in and of itself. Soar's book on grounding is or should be a must read for anyone in the electrical industry.
Isn't even gas in the dam saw. See I hate it when they do promos like this. Ita like okay I get it that battery saw is never goina compared to a big boy gas power saw. But I'm sure plenty of people would love a simple light saw like this. So show how close it gets to the gas powered. Then go over uses like normal people would be using it for. Clearing random brush off a fence line of shooting paths for the tree stand etc
A Super quiet chainsaw, neighbors will not complain when you chop down trees in the morning.
I'd like to see somebody who knows how to start a steel chainsaw. That is not how you start a chainsaw.
If your in to the M18 battery system this chainsaw will work well, rich home owners and work crews. Tree service and pro loggers not the market. If you think the gas saw is loud, just wait for the chipper to start. Saw kit $900.00 plus two more M18 9-12amp $400.00 = $1300. A 70cc gas MS462 is about the same price. Husqvarna 572xp is cheaper at $1000.00. One of the "gray" gas saws was a Stihl. It didn't look or sound like MS462 with a 20"bar. MS261 50cc maybe ? $700.00 MSRP. When it hits the market we will see some real side by side races . Just never get the air of honestly when at the shows. When manufacturers are doing side by side comparison my BS meter is going off. At work (Fire&Rescue) we run Dewalt system and a battery chainsaw is one of the tools on the trucks. That said ,when the storms hit and more then a few cuts are needed out come the gas saws. 55cc-70cc 18-28" Ladders and rescue carry them all the time. Saw kits are added to pumpers as part of storm preparations. Even with all of my gas saws 25cc-91cc (12 total). I still have an EGO saw that matches the mower in the shed. It just sits for mouths with no service ready to cut when you clip in a battery from the mower. The price of this saw Just doesn't make it homeowner friendly . Most homeowners are buying $200.00 and under saws. With no training or safety gear. If M18 is your work crew tools and you need a saw bigger then the pole pruner. Milwaukee has the saw your looking for. Step right up , hand over that sweet company card and your on your way.
I won’t say the mfg. if it was small stuff I might say ok. But as a tree guy they don’t hold up. Not even close. Let alone battery cost. They don’t last long per use and life. I have done a full breakdown gas verse electric. Gas by far is best. I could care less what I use. Gas. Electric. Or a dam beaver. Time saved. Overall cost. Upkeep. Insurance. Gas by far beats them all. If I was a homeowner it wouldn’t be worth it unless I have a lot of tree work in my yard and do it myself. Oh yaw fyi. If it breaks. Don’t think about repairing it. Go buy a new one. I couldn’t find anyone to fix it for a good price.
This drastically outperforms the single battery Milwaukee electric chainsaws some of the crews have at my yard. We love the Milwaukee electric jackhammer, but generally prefer a gas-powered Stihl to Milwaukee's previous chainsaws. This product may change that. 🙂
3:56 really Milwaukee you’re using a chump gas powered chainsaw instead of a good quality Stihl or Husqvarna or Johnsared chainsaw as your competition against your electric??!! I mean, I’m a Milwaukee guy, but that pissed me off washing that kind of stupidity because the guy had the ignition switch in the off position while trying to start it and when he finally got going on, the chain was pretty dull!
I hate 2 stroke engines with a passion. Some of those battery powered tools are charged with stolen power.
What is the release date for the 20" chainsaw?
Thanks for sharing
Thr lower noise is going to be a big benefit when you are on a crew that needs to coordinate.
Lol a crew? Nobody's switching to this for a big job
@@nickgamble4544 there are different kinds of jobs and crews. This channel is about linemen. They aren't spending 8 hours straight using a chain saw. They are removing what's urgent to remove and moving on with the other steps needed to remove power. And even on a tree crew, there are situations where you are doing something technical and challenging and the ability to communicate trumps the ability to cut nonstop for hours.
Now do 40 more cuts
i love my top handle m18!
That saw is great ! love how you cut upwards ! After a storm with lots of trees down you will be cutting all ways and angels . The best part I like is how quit they are . great for them 2AM storms !!
That Lawn Dude spotted on the milwaukee saw. that's pretty cool that two of the people I'm subscribed to crossed paths.
Hey Aaron, are you still considering doing that solar at your home video? I think it would be really interesting?
Yes absolutely! The system is fully operational now, just gotta coordinate the installer to help with the video.
There truely are a lot of „tools“ at this pipeline events. Like people who wear a hard hat for cutting cookies. And those who will intentionally mess up starting a gas saw. An those who compare themselves to blunted chains. Always fun to watch such sharp „tools“ in action.
Except that many of these battery “tools” match or exceed the power of their gas cousins.
@@rmcnamara57 Uh, another „tool“.
14.3 m/s chain speed no good for back cuts. .325 chain with 5.8 hp and this torque level is really stretching it. That is not a healthy relation for everyday use …
Keep that saw away from Johnny

Dull chain too. Come on Milwaukee you’re better than that.

Hello! Bob i think you should to change your iphone to new modele which has stabilization frontal camera for quality footage. Many thanks quite interesting cordless saw !
What brand are those secondary grounds?
Cool but not cooler than a stihl
Looks like you're having a good time. The weather that day cooperated. That hasn't been the case much this spring. Thanks for the video.
Apples to Apples, sharpen the gas chain. Dull as all get out, look at the chips. Gas will win hands down especially in the real world of tree cutting. My best guess, need several thousand dollars of batteries and charges for 1 tree removal. That buys a tremendous amount of gas and oil!
It's not aimed at the forestry industry. It's aimed at people who need to occasionally cut with a chainsaw in sporadic and small amounts. I have an electric (AC) chainsaw and it meets all my needs - otherwise I'd buy a chainsaw to go with my 80V Greenworks batteries (Lawnmower, leafblower...)
@@AlanTheBeast100 I believe this is the one they are showing - Milwaukee M18 FUEL 20 Inch Dual Battery Chainsaw Kit - At $899.00 + Tax, that better cut down a forest! My two Stihl chainsaws didn't equal that, and I can cut down a forest!
@@omarjohnson3411 And you have to deal with fuel store / transport /mix, stink, more difficult maintenance, hard starts on occasion, etc. and so on. Battery chain saw: just goes. If it's not for you, fine. But it's for a lot of other people.
Looked like it from here too👍
@@AlanTheBeast100 Might be fine for some people, "Average Joe" can't afford a $900+ chainsaw. Better / cheaper options out there. This is more of a novelty, not practical in the everyday world!
Pretty cool! The slices off the logs would make neat tops for side tables or even stools.
Alright now run them both for 30 minutes, junk. Maybe ok for a homeowner but that’s about it
You can't hear the Gas engine bog down on the electric saw..... Go figure. But that doesn't mean that it doesn't bog down. It just doesn't make the same noise when it does. If they did the engineering right you shouldn't hear it till after half the battery is gone.
I don't know that's not really the comparison I was thinking of I've seen people take all week to get a chainsaw to start
Last week our transformer blew because high temperatures and we lost power for a few hrs, i can understand that, but what really pisses me off is that no one wanted to come out and fix it from west penn power first energy, especially when they lived right across the river in charleroi 15min away from the problem, i got newborn and my elderly neighbor has medicine in her fridge So i say fuck you to the guys who didnt want to come out and west penn power for not reacting faster to the problem Shout to the 2 guys who actually wanted to work and fixed it.
I just purchased the 6 ton crimper a few months ago. It works as advertised. I use the BG die for grounding work.

It's amazing what you done with such a long stick. I could never do that. Good that I'm an engineer, not a lineman ^^
Is it just me or did that connector stand shake quite a bit?
The H crimps are an alloy of copper, aluminum, and nickel and therefore compatible with both. They are designed to keep the two metals separate from each other. They also come with oxide inhibitor.
Something like that is great till you are dealing with a disaster recovery situation.
