I built this kit in 1960 when it first came out. I had built a lot of other similar kits, but no one else did a Wildcat. I immediately observed that this kit was superior to the Revell, Aurora, Hawk, and Lindberg kits I had built. The fit and finish were better and the model looked more scale-like when finished than the others. I didn't know then that raised panel lines, and such were a no-no, although some rivets in the day were raised. I didn't have the painting skills I later developed, but I made a decent model leaving it mostly unpainted which speaks well for it. I ended up building all of the Monogram Pacific aircraft, They never let me down. Best of the lot- SBD 'Dauntless". I did paint that one. Just a superb kit.
