In addition to a lack of maintenance culture, Nigerian facilities lack other things. In my view, it starts with rewiring of the mindset. If I am not the owner, I will be lackadaisical about putting in 100%, looking for my own private practice to the detriment of the owner's investment. At the end of the month the owner should just pay me my salary! It is well

You spoke my mind. I appreciate and respect the business initiative. No business is easy. But what will spark my adoration now is food growing, local car assembly, mass housing, and potable water projects. In most upscale hospitality places in Lagos, apart from water and beer, all other drinks are imported. The manager will be oyinbo needing fx salary, etc. It will create local employment, but the impact on the economy is not as great as the industries you mentioned.

@dubemellit2932 Read posts with an open mind for clarity and education. You can take a subtle jibe at me as you wish. We all have a right to invest in whatever biz suits us. My point is simple : The government needs to create a more encouraging environment for businesses that address our grassroots issues. Food, fx savings, education, etc.. Incentives like tax breaks, pioneer status, security, single rate interest rate etc. If this happens, you will see more diverse and expansive growth in Nigeria.. As it is now, many billionaires are not encouraged. Hence, they just all pour their resources into congested hospitality in Lagos and a few in other states. They employ a few, but the impact on the economy is little and it drains fx. Yes, we all have a right to invest in what we wish. The government, however, needs to help a diversified investment to boost the dying economy.

Excellent points. 💯. It's still, however, very lucrative, not because of anything special about Lagos. But because of the sluggishness of other state governments in moving development outside Lagos. In addition, the default seaport embarrassingly is yet to be duplicated since independence. This December, for example, you'll witness unprecedented patronage from diaspora guests and several other states' elites passing through or visiting Lagos. Our development model is still very limited and choked at one point.

I would love to stay at this hotel! Nigeria is such a beautiful country and has the best music and best food, women are gorgeous. I would love to see Nigeria develop a rail public transportation system that countries like China, Japan, France and Switzerland would look up to. Subways, Trams, local and long distance high speed rail, 100% electrified. Excellent road system that rivals the Texas highway system with Interstates with frontage roads, major highways and farm roads. Airports that are better than Doha, Dubai or Singapore. I cannot wait to try out the Lagos Blue and Red lines. Lagos is an exciting city but if transport was on point it would be a true powerhouse. I would love to work on a project to massively upgrade Nigeria's transport infrastructure. U.S. did it in the 1950's, China in 2008+.

I beg, who can explain the kind of leaders Nigeria has? What happened to Federal Palace Hotel and the other so-called grand hotels. These could have been maintained rather than build more then struggle to maintain, which is a major problem in the country.
Nigerians are struggling to survive, humbly requesting basic amenities (electricity, gas, water, food, good roads, excellent transportation system, jobs etc) yet we seem to shuffle between churches and hotels to build elaborate structures like that's what we need. You are more concerned about what foreigners will find on Google than what your own people need to survive...Lord have mercy.

The hotel should have been built in the village of Awka in Anambra state. We don't need this hotel in Lagos, probably it would be better to be cited in Southeast. The southeast economy is in shamble, and for all your secondhand businesses, this type of business would not survive in such a harsh and dangerous environment like SE. The majority of the Igbos should relocate back home to develop SE to bring back the much needed development the region needs. We have enough top class hotel in Lagos already.

Thunder will fire you for this statement you made. Go to the choice areas of lagos and then find out if you own even one percent of the high-rise buildings you see there. Secondly this hotel, go and find out more whom the board of directors are. Sherston Hotel lagos, four points, federal Palace Hotel and casino lagos, go and find out whom the owners are and where they are from. Coming here to talk rubbish out of your boastful and envious nature. Loud mouth. You don't own not even up to one percent of the properties on the island. This is coming from a delta who was born and raised in lagos.

A certain Uzor wanted to built a 12 storey building in Onitsha but permission is required from Abuja which has taken donkey years and still up to no avail. But it is as simple as ABC in Lagos. Sooner in about 2-5 years, a concocted plan would be hatched in blaming the owner on building on a land where a high speed road would pass, demolishing the building by the same destroyers who would go cup in hand asking for foreign investments but neglecting looking inwards. As always, and for no reason at all, 20 pounds became millions and that is the anger generated by the building demolishers. For one thing, he has gambled his wealth away. Abuja has denied Aba, the shoe manufacturing capital permits to millionaires to build sky scrappers but easy in Lagos. Let foreigners like the Chinse fill in the shoes in Lagos to build to its heart;s content but self deprecating. That is also investment.
