can this application also apply to a 2011 Jeep Liberty KK? Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep seem to share the same transmission I've found.
thanx for you imput.
Does this info apply to the 2008 4.0 as well? How do you mark the dipstick for the 4.0? thanks

is this also apply to 2014 dodge journey 2.4L too?
One question , what position use for oil test ? P or N ?
Did you just use the engine oil dipstick thats in the can for the trans fluid?
Thank you. but um I have a question. the handle to my oil dipstick broke off and now my dipstick is stuck in there. Is there any way I could get that out without needing a mechanic. that you might know of, any tricks or something?
Also I've already changed the speed sensors. now my readings are saying I need to change my gear shift ratio. it's a 2010 Dodge Caravan🙄 can you do a video on how to change that? Please? It's just so I know the process. Bcuz I don't like getting run over by mechanics. I like to know what the process is that they're doing to my car. Thank you 😁
I checked and checked and didn't see it at first, however there is a rather large wiring harness and the cap is almost touching the wiring harness so the tube looks like part of the wiring harness. It is almost right up against the wiring harness, tricky little devils but probally for a good reason. Non the less it is there.
Awesome ! Thank you so very much.
Thank you too :-)

Having problems with my transmission. Been in the shop 4× limp mode. Found the cap off the transmission. Whining still not shifting. Saying maybe the transmission seliond.
Thanks for the vid and location of the port. Just to clarify, was that the engine oil dipstick you were using to check the transmission fluid level?
Indeed it is. Check out this video for info: czcams.com/video/Loiy-feyZPk/video.html

Hi, my car shakes sometimes when i turn the engine on, when i stop at a red light or a stop sign. And now for the past two days the check engine light has come on. I just want to know if that could be related to a low transmission oil issue? Thank you
shaking engine at a stop or idle is probably a misfire.
Thank you for your video. I would comment on the way you pour transmission fluid from the container into the funnel. Usually, it is easier to have the bulging side of the bottle be at the bottom and the neck side be on top, when pouring, thus eliminating any spillage. I know you did not actually pour anything since the cap was on, but pouring without spilling is not a bad habit.
If you'd watched the whole thing . .he did actually pour the fluid into the funnel. 🙂
Hi. I've got a different Type of dipstick. In My car Dodge grand caravan 3.6 2017 should be min. level SAFE?
Please see the link in the video description for making a transmission dipstick from your regular oil dipstick. Hope that helps!
Спасибо!!!!!!
Thank you for the nice video. However, in my case, I have 2014 T&C and I see extremely thick and rigid wire harness with 3 branches is right over the cap and it is hardly visible and the harness is pushing right up against the cap and there is no room to unscrew it at all. Even if I unscrew it somehow, I am not sure if I can even stick the dip stick into it much less fill the fluid in through the hole. What a big bummer! Do you have any idea what I can do about this? The harness is so rigid it would not even budge so I am not sure what I can do.
Yes, there is a large electrical harness over the top, but there should be a gap there of (approx) a couple of inches. That harness should be attached to the side of the battery platform (cable ties/cable clips). Maybe yours is not connected and has dropped a bit? You do have to work around the harness because it's directly in the way, but it's not usually too toigh to do so. Best of luck!

Great video!
Thanks!
I have a 2019 DGC which used e85 fuel, can i change to regular gasoline? If anyone knows if it's better, or worst, i would appreciate the feedback.
Your car will likely be FlexFuel, which means it can use E85 or regular gas with no issues. So yes, for FlexFuel cars you absolutely can use regular gas. Hope that helps :-) www.paypal.me/youwrench

I bought a used GC 2010 and it’s under 100ooo miles. Should I take the chance and drop the pan and filter?
Well the official recommendation is at 120,000 miles (or 60,000 is used for towing, or in extreme conditions). That said, many owners on the various forums would do it for good maintenance at around half that distance. So you could leave it a while longer if everything is smooth and good, or get it done now. There's no 'right' answer, a personal choice:-) www.paypal.me/youwrench

No on my 2017 either. Base model.
Please where's the link to watch the video about how to check it using the oil dipstick?
The link is in the video description :-)
How far into the tube do you insert the dipstick? Will the dipstick stop or can you insert it too far?
Yes, there is a metal frame and the dipstick bottoms out on it. If you rewatch the video carefully it is expalined for you :-)

Did you rewatch and did he explain anything
I got universal dipstick then i guess i need bring lvl between 60 to 70 then when warm up engine on charger
Yes, the principal would remain the same regardless of the brand of the dipstick. It is a measurement from the tip of the dipstick to the measurements outlined in the video. You just need to compare the measurements to what markings you already have on the universal dipstick. Hope that makes sense, and helps! www.paypal.me/youwrench

Does the transmission have to be in park, or neutral?
In Park, it's safer. Engine must be running too :-)

Hi there. I just bought a 2019 Grand Caravan. I tried finding the tube to fill the tranny, but there is no tube, there is no cap. I searched and searched and nothing there. Dodge must have decided to make it impossible to check or fill it on your own after all the videos on how to check and fill. I think they are afraid of people not putting in the ATF+4 and possibility of ruining the transmission. Can you look into this and get back to me. Maybe they moved it, but I could not find anything anywhere that even resembled a place to check or fill it.
There is one no my 2018. There is a big thick wiring harness directly above it so it's hard to see
I’m going through this now lol think I’m going to take it to tag dealer just to be on the safe side
@@tunchi2x8721 but the dealer will gladly do a total fluid change but will refuse to "top it up" I asked him how he would fill it up at all when he can't fill it up. His answer "fill the drain pan" that's all iot needs. " Yeah, right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Me too I just want to get my car fixed 😢
It’s a small cap it’s says for dealer use only try using a light to find it it’s close the front on the driver side on the transmission
QUICK QUESTION .
If i check the trans fluid with the engine COMPLETELY OFF when i wake up in the morning , will the fluid level be WAY UP on the dip stick ? ..... i understand it needs to be done w engine running. BUT IF i did it on complete ice cold Never turning engine on ,
Woupd the fluid on dipstick be WAY up ?? Just out of curiosity. . Hope u understand my question . Thank you .
If i wake up, get out of bed and check fluid WITH OUT EVER TURNING THE VEHICLE ON .
Yes, if you check without the engine running it will show that you have too much fluid because the fluid is not being pumped around the system and so all drops and settles in the pan. Correct, the level should be checked with the engine running. Hope that helps!!
@@YouWrench so my transmission pan was seeping on my 2014 DGC sxt, and went to a mechanic to fix, which was diagnosed as a bad gasket and also replaced the filter and changed the TF fluid. drove for a couple of days, and just noticed a pile of TF all over my garage. I followed your video tonight for the hot side only, and found 65mm of fluid, which seems high. I will follow the cold instructions and report back, but is it possible to overfill a transmission? I read there is a vent that the fluid can escape from, which can leak onto you CC and catch fire. awesome.
I have an issue with my 2016 DGC R/T where tranny liquid is dripping from the bottom after about 1 year of rebuilding the tranny.
That's definitely not good. Maybe a bad seal or gasket. You will want to get that rectified as quickly as possible before it becomes a bigger issue. You may be able to visually inspect and see where the leak is coming from. If suitable, check out the transmission fluid and filter change on our channel. Hope that helps!

This is so innacurate, isnt there a level inspection drain plug?
Where can I buy the real dipstick from?
There is likely no 'real' dipstick as such as Dodge design them to not have a dipstick. That said, you may be able to source one that would be used in a Dodge main dealer workshop. However, you can buy generic dipsticks to use, or follow our video guide and mark up your existing oil dipstick to do both. Hope that helps!

Little confused. New fluids to be added first, before checking the specified cold/hot fluid level, and after the filter/gasket replacement? I need to know because I'm thinking about replacing the filter in my 2013 Dodge Caravan transmission. Thanks! 👍 (I, J.E., already subscribed)
Please take a look at the transmission fluid and filter change video here: czcams.com/video/Rd-bgNYVkfw/video.html - hope that helps!! :-)

So you used the oil dipstick in the trans?
Yes, that is correct. You can find a link on how to make your own DIY dipstick in the Video Description. You can either buy a dedicated tranmission dipstick, or add markings on the rear of your existing dipstick (as per the video linked in the Video Description). Hope that helps!

So sorry. I have a 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan, but there is no cap where you indicated. I can't seem to locate the transmission fluid port anywhere 😓 😮💨
Me neither
c cool
You never said what the normal levels are for the vehicle. Is it 40 to 60? 50 to 80? ....what?
It is mentioned in this video at 1:45, you can use the DIY dipstick (link in the description of this video) to see if your level is correct. If you are asking what the capacity is for this gearbox, then that is covered in our transmission fluid and filter change. Hope that is helpful.

@@YouWrenchhow would you solve that.
This is so f…d up i paid 40k for my 2015 Caravan and i have to buy a dipstick to check the tranny oil. Whats next with these greedy engineer’s next tires with no valve stems to check tire air pressures.
My wife bought a bra and apparently i have to buy the boobs to fill it. Thats the 2nd biggest rip off I’ve had in my life.
Do you happen to know if the 2015 Grand Caravans have a sealed transmission? Friend of mine has one, thinks it has a leak, but thinks it's a sealed transmission. Been trying to find out for him for a couple days now (of course it's the weekend, so the dealerships are closed).
As to your second issue: perhaps it’s time to consider a trade in. 😏Ah, that new wife smell.
This access does not exist on the 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan. If I could post pictures I would show you. Please show me I am wrong.
I have a 2016. Mine certainly has it
It say for dealer use only use a light it’s a small black cap about size of a soda top driver side in front
Mine was wedged under that wire loom that you see in the video. I had a hard time finding mine.
It took us a lot longer to find the fluid opening then it should have it’s hidden underneath the wiring knuckle (between the battery and engine) it should be an inch in any other direction it would’ve been easier to find 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️ but once found it was no longer an issue (2017 Dodge Grand Caravan)
It's probably hidden under a thick wire.
Let me guess.... they made one model one day of one season of 2017 where they didn't put this cap on and just my luck, it's the one I got.....fml
You are not alone, we have several people reporting this here (see other comments). Very strange!

Yes, and they did that one day on one 2016 Caravan, & that's the one I bought.
That cap you are removing is NO WHERE to be found on my 2018 Grand Caravan. We have looked SIX times going from the video to the van look and then back to the video just IS NOT there. Does being a Canadian vehicle make a difference J U S T I S N O T T H E R E
Jim, have you learned anything more about this? Mine is a 2014 and the cap is also not there.
@@smartspaswitch382 The cap just isn,t there all I know.
That is odd! The car in the video is also Canadian, so it's not that! I've not seen one yet without the cap and tube, and I've run a quick Google search and can't find anyone mentioning this as an issue, and in the workshop manual it's shown exactly as per the car in this video. This has me a little perplexed! Especially as you have checked 6 times, no way you could have missed it. I'll have to look into this in more depth when I get a little more time. Keep us posted here for the sake of others reading if you discover why this is.

it’s there but it’s really hard to spot, even with the video I have a hard time finding it
Me too. 2016. You are not losing your mind.
