I find myself genuinely sad about the Hive lore and hope that in some reality they are allowed a redemption arc for their kind. They've been manipulated by The Witness since day 1 and deserve so much better, even the traveler thinks so! 😜

Hey y'all! If you're new here and have no idea what's going on, I'm Terra and I'm catching up on the story of Destiny before The Final Shape's release.
ALSO, I was so excited for the Witch Queen that I recorded all of the main campaign in one 10 hour sitting. (So if I seem a bit fried by the end of it, that would be why. 😅)
Also also, many have asked for my Dynasty reaction and I regret to inform that I did not record it, I just watched it casually in the morning while getting ready for this recording!

That parasite quest is actually a pretty important side quest. But im so glad youve finished the witch queen.
So fun fact, in some of the supplemental lore that came out in the accompanying season, multiple ghosts were overcame by a strange urge to scan hive for compatibility and/or resurrect them, Glint included. To me, this reads as the Traveler subconsciously influencing the Ghosts to resurrect them or at least making them an available option. Which also explains why Fynch said he thought he was doing the Traveler’s will when he resurrected Ken (that is his Knight’s canon name, I believe.)
EDIT: I also think that the Traveler did willingly go to Savathûn’s throne world. We know it’s terrified and tired of all the death and destruction it’s wrought and just wants to be done with the conflict, so I believe it actually wanted her to seal it away. But I could be wrong since we have no real insight into its motives here.

that was a great use of Deep Stone Lullaby on the wipe montage of the final fight. I felt that . That never ending determination.
Thank you! I wasn't sure how others would feel about it without the fight's music, but to me, it really captured the feeling of how much we struggled to get the win. 😅

“Enough Death, Enough Life” the witness is such a dope villain
4:50 the moment that this became a "kid walks in on parents arguing" moment.
Something to keep in mind going forward is that the light is a power based around creation and the darknesss is based around consciousness. This is why things like deepsight are linked to darkness and even stasis requires you to think in a certain way in order to use it
Thats Savathuns greatest trick, she wasnt lying to us. She was trying to protect the traveler, and she was listening to the travelers will. The Traveler was not an illusion, it was willing to go to Savathun for protection. Its why it made her a guardian and never once tried to stop her. Last time someone tried to take the traveler it fought back
I don’t think I I’ve been this excited to watch a series in a while. Videos like these always help remind me how good Destiny is at times despite its sometimes downfalls. Thank you for that, and I can’t wait to see your reactions to the raid and post campaign content next!
You should definitely get some people to get you through the raid (Vow of the Disciple) before getting into seasonal stuff.

The fact that the Cataclysm was most likely the dark fleet's doing has been a theory for a while, considering the Black fleet has been known to use *gravitational weapons* as a main attack. Also the Worm Familiar memory revealed why the Traveler was okay blessing Savathun with the light: It was going to a long time ago, but couldn't because of the worms.
When ghost tales about oryx and osiris in the last mission there are more lines, if you played d1 it mentions crota and the great disaster and if you played destiny 2 from before, it mentions the awoken, the dreaming city and i think those are all, its a very cool detail

Its nice to see u have a good understanding of the Witness & Darkness. The Witness has essentially a hold over the Darkness like a monopoly, the Light & Dark arent opposing forces but the Witness has made it seem like that, & it has enforced the idea that itself & Darkness are inseparable/the same (which you found out they arent exactly the same thanks to Beyond Light), & it is the source of the Darkness's corruption/negatives (also that room full of planets/moons contain the ones it took during Season of Arrivals plus other stuff it has conquered, if u also go back to the Shadowkeep ending scene with your doppleganger, u can see it do the same hand gesture the Witness does)
The only Baseline was her right hand Wizard who told her the very basic plan so Savathun could remember what she had. Savathun did plan this out beforehand and her Wizard helped to guide her
Her learning about how she got swindled by the Witness was such a moment but ngl my first thought was "she sounds so hot when she's mad" 😅
Also my headcanon is that the Witness has such a high collar because they have a weak chin and they're insecure about it.
Congrats on beating WQ Legend! It's no easy feat, even for vets when we did it the first time. Enjoy the parasite quest, and the seasons that follow!
That last mission was so unbelievably brutal, especially if you ran with triples.

I’m very glad you got to experience this DLC, it is by far one of the best stories in the destiny franchise
Witch Queen and Forsaken are tied for me. I'd say Bungie did pretty well with the content of Beyond Light too, though the sunsetting thing was upsetting.

Dont worry. The Witness will be explained not long after Lightfall. And trust me it is extremely vital in the Final Shape. I would actually really recommend reacting to the Vow of the Disciple Raid dialogue because it is in heavy association to the Witness and is extremely important for understanding its goals before Lightfall. I would recommend lore vidoes on the Boss for the raid. It won't disappoint
Realizing Savathun shared an actress with Cir from Fallen Order felt like my world was upside down 😅. Debra Wilson is incredible.
just lightfall and the remaining 8 seasons and your caught up, now i've been watching these just because i have missed like... ALL of the seasons stories, so having you catch up was actually a good excuse to get myself caught up on stories i missed out on, some more than others obviously, still though with final shape only a month away, you may need to go speed run mode on the remaining seasons ether way best of luck dude!
Once I hit lightfall, I'm going to be in recording/editing hell, but I'm still excited. 😅
Also, giving others a chance to experience (or experience again) the story alongside me was part of the goal of this reaction series! I love a shared journey, so I'm glad you're enjoying it too!

I'm sure you'll have heard from your friends and other comments alike that Lightfall's storytelling leaves much to be desired, but if you go in with an open mind concerning the next year of content it will pay off greatly, plus you'll be happy to see a favorite returning character of yours!
My expectations are fully managed when it comes to lightfall!

Imo by far the best Witness scene is the memory ikora is watching when it's talking about claiming the sisters before the light does. Having not seen the Witness yet, just hearing that creepy multi-voice speak in that scene was awesome

On the traveller having a humanoid form, it is possible. In scrapped early concepts from Destiny 1 the mars explorers met first with a woman who called herself the witch before they discovered the traveller. The Witness didn't wait on purpose but I don't wanna go into spoiler territory. It's always great to see new players getting pulled into the story, glad you're enjoying it. I love destiny and did I mention I hate destiny?

Once playing through lightfall are you going to play the post campaign stuff and seasons or react to them , Destin never uploaded his recordings of the lightfall seasons 'yet' (he said on the fireteam chat podcast recently that he may do at some point) an alternative I can recommend would be esoterickk's compilations for the seasons. Looking forward to future vids as always.
The plan right now is to try to individually record the seasons myself! If time becomes an issue, I will look into esoterickk's videos, thank you!
I recommend watching a video like you did with Shadowkeep because there is also Two Lies Two Truths game and some other things that were after The Witch Queen campaign and before the season
You have to play vow if you can, as well as a tour through the preservation mission/ So much interesting lore gets narrated to you 🙂
