Pontiac G5. After looking at the technical specifications, one might conclude that the Pontiac G5 is nothing but a mildly altered Chevrolet Cobalt. But while it may be easy to write off the G5 as just a clone of the Cobalt, a number of minor changes help to give the G5 a look and feel all its own.

I have a 2006 G5 bought brand new and the same competition yellow as in the video. Let me say this as I still have the car with 120,00 miles on her and she runs like a top. 2.2 engine and auto transmission and the car corners like a racetrack car. Never put snow tires on and have never been stuck, not even once. The factory installed Pioneer 228 watt stereo/CD player with subwoofer in the trunk is fantastic. The only major problems are replacing both front wheel bearings, a rusted fuel line and of course rusted rockers which both G5s and Cobalts suffer from and I see this on the road daily. I get a lot of compliments on the car as the paint still looks brand new despite sitting outside for 18 years. I don't know what GM put in the paint but it looks fantastic and show room new. I love the red backlit dash. I have a sunroof and rear quarter panel antenna and from the rear she looks like a kid's race track car. I plan to drive her until she dies at the side of the road and I will update here when that happens. I maintain her well with regular oil changes (semi syn) and Platinum AC Delco spark plugs. I wouldn't change this car for the world.

I had a 2006 Chevy Cobalt which is pretty much the same thing and I had no complaints at all about it. Why is it that every time they review a car, they have to talk so negatively about them. This is a compact car, not a Cadillac. It is a great car inside and out. I rode in a Toyota Corolla and a Honda Civic and they were not all that. The Cobalt has just as much quality and fun ride as all the competition. Save your money and buy this car.
I have a 2007 Pontiac G5 and its handling it's simply great! you can go into a curve at 60mph and has excellent grip (if you have a good set of tires of course).. 2.2L, 155HP, and 140mph! 0-60 near 6 seconds.. It's a great car and very fun to drive, beautiful engine sound; too bad is 25mpg city and its value today is half the price it cost me..

I just bought a 2008 black g5. In 2019. Runs great, struts are good, heat, air, sound system, sun roof. Not much power but it makes up for it by stopping on a dime and tight cornering. I like this little old car.
Looking at one now but everyone bashes it 😬 so undecided

I have a 2007 g5 having issues with water getting into the trunk along with no door chime or turning signal noise

It was originally sold in Canada, and was then sold to someone in Michigan. There are a couple in Missouri that I have seen, and it's speedometer is in Kilometers.

In Mexico and Canada we have a sedan version
I have the 2008 Pontiac G5 GT. It has 171 horsepower and 167 lbs of torque stock. I added a GM air intake and it now has about 181 horsepower. This is a very swift and beautiful car for only being a 4 cylinder. They call it the baby Goat and little brother with attitude. We build excitement.....Pontiac!!!

You can get a GM air intake. You might be able to use other brands like K&N and Injen but they require special brackets. The GM air intake can be installed in about an hour. Some people mention performance chips and headers but I'm not sure about those parts. A GM catback exhaust will also add more horsepower. Enjoy your G5.

the non gt manual can burn out btw, so when they say it doesn't have the power it boggles me. Also i was waiting for them to get to the gass mileage, it was nice how they said the G5 and the G5 GT get about the same and only list the G5's MPG. Our G5 gets easy 37-41 highway, if you want to get 32 get a civic~ 8 MPG adds up, very quick quick...

I bought a 2005 Pontiac Sunfire, 51000km's. Standard Transmission, and basic model.
Its the basic model, so no power anything (extra things that wont break). I love the subwoofer, and the interior is very nice.
Overall, I love my Pontiac!
@Troopfirebird Honestly, I've ONLY seen the G5 as a coupe here in the U.S.! So, I believe ur correct!
Mine works well, but i get a bunch of codings from time to time such as service airbag, check engine, nothing too big all sensors it can just be annoying...
Which domestic car is best for a new driver? Ford Explorer Sport Trac(2001), Ford Focus coupe(2008), Monte Carlo SS(2003) or the G5?
I'd probably go with the Ford Focus. I have a Cobalt (similar to the G5) & the rear visibility is poor for a new driver.
@coandcaiv Wrong.. they paid back the money they borrowed early. they are not bankrupt at all. In fact they are doing very well.
manual is standard on both, auto 4 speed is optional on both cars
i have an 07 with the 2.2l bought it 3 years ago with 57k miles its at 68k now the only thing I've had to do in that 3 years was a set of tires.front brakes replace an exhaust flang,a battery and replace a 4ft section of fuel line.with cobalts and g5's are know to have an issue due to how the heat shield was placed allowing condensation to build up causing rust. it needs a new rim due to previous owner bending rim, fuel purge valve another cobalt/g5 common issue and possibly strut or rack and pinon work, not to bad for a 13 year old car.
@guncollector2010 Actually I dove up to the moutains and back (2 hour trip) at 55 tops as it was not a freeway. I was at 41 MPG when I was done...
@bestamerica Yeah no amber turn signals or complete gauge package. Makes it seem cheap. It could have been better. 2006 Nissan 2 red turn signals (Separate to brake lights) and gas filler on drivers side.

@Avorysuds .....I own a g5 myself, you must never drive the car to get 37 miles to the gallon, or you must drive at about 5 mph.
Elmer Lucas that’s how I felt for the first month but then I started running my rpms lower and taking it to 5th anytime I’m going 40+ and it seemed to really stretch my dollar.

@@BrendanXG3 it’s a good car but it’s got a really picky clutch. It takes a while for other people to get comfortable with it, n the average person will burn the clutch up. Other than that great car
Yeah it is, but the Pursuit has a slightly older interior which does not look as good or function as well as this

The g5 sedan is all over the place here in Missouri. I have the coupe, but see them all the time. And no, not the g6 sedan that I also see everywhere

nah man i have a 4 door Pontiac G5.. i could have gotten the G6 but i preferred the G5 and the color i was able to get.. I have it automatic, sun roof, leather steering wheel and shifter, wicked sound system, allum exh tip, fog lights, xm radio, on star... so i dont know how ur making ur reviews with no proper data on the car.. The car was bought brand new at GM in canada... and it is not a GT model either.. and i have 148 hp 2.2 ltr engine.. just sayin... trunk is perfect for subs too!!!
It's a compact car and in this video it says it has 148.

I bought a 2009 G5 sedan as my first car a couple months ago and I do see a lot of them in Canada. A lot of old ladies drive them XD but it’s a decent little car

@whtswrngwthupeople This is one of the cars that helped prove Pontiac's worthlessness in the automotive marketplace. It was a brand confused by wanting to be Chevrolet, but trying to be sporty. They wanted a "sporty" aveo and called it the G3. The G5's interior is the same as the Cobalt minus small changes for pontiac trademarks. And both their interiors aren't near as good as the Civic's in terms of overall quality.

Why do they do that??? Like copy another car??? they do that with vans too, and trucks like the Chevy silverado and the gmc serria, then you have the chevy cobalt and the Pontiac g5, Just two to name a few but it seems like the same vehical just slapped with a different name.

2 reasons this car is a poor design and lousy automaker,,,
1 - this car do not have 2 amber yellow lights on the rear taillights for turning sign and emergency parking lot,,,
2 - gas in hole on the right passage side is not good design

@whtswrngwthupeople Which is why Honda has consistently ranked higher than GM in just about every category lol. The Civic's interior is much nicer materials, and a much better fit and finish. There's a reason it sells so well lol. Even the Honda Fit's interior is better than the Cobalt. Reason they are killing off the Cobalt is because it can't compete, not even with the Corolla. And the Corolla itself isn't all that great.

Fobbity Mapping Well I actually use mine for autocross and on coilovers the thing still handles amazingly, I love the interior and makes a ton of power on just a single aftermarlrt turbo.
Lol i supercharged mine and it makes like 220whp. Which is alot for a 2200 pound car.
