@George Washington Entertainment I don't think Dark Souls is overrated, what makes it special is the fact that it is 99% of the time difficult but FAIR and that way you almost never get frustrated
While games like Battletoads and Ninja Gaiden sacrifice fairness for the sake of making it feel more difficult (like making you loose progress, which is not difficult, is bullshit)
Metalizer. I just completed battletoads Battlemaniacs a couple of weeks back. Playing the old school way. It took me a solid week to complete playing 6 hours+ a day! At least 259 attempts to learn the turbo tunnel. Actually found tracktors level quite easy to master. I’m ready to take on the original but now need to order a NES. You’re right tho man these games are incredibly frustrating. But also rewarding at same time
@@metalyzer you're full of shazz. DS was built with poor controls. It was a lucky accident.
NG on the other hand is not cheap. Tight controls and the enemy punishes your mistakes. With the exception of Alma mind you.

I know, right?!! (and it sure ain't for lack of tryin'!!! I musta sunk 100+ hours into this game as a kid, and only made it past the stupid Jet-Ski part {maybe} 3 or 4 times...)
You had to have that one issue of Nintendo Power where they mapped out the entire game over about 50 pages so you could memorize everything.
Palace Of Wisdom just like how you never beat zelda 64 then 10 years later u do and you think wow that was insane. But in reality it's not a huge challenge if u know what ur doing and what to do
+Kody Nah, more like I've beaten Zelda 64 as a kid and then when I revisit it on 3ds I just give up. My lack of patience is disturbing these days. I can't stick to one game anymore like I could back then, maybe it's because I can afford to buy new games, rather being stuck with a few? idk.
Hijynx87 i feel the same way man. starting at the beginning of a level or all the way at the beginning. can't do it anymore even with all the drinking I just don't have the patience.

Just amazing! I was a called a legend for being able to finish this game with no warp zones 20 years ago. Now I see this speed run. Supernatural neurocinetics, man. Congratulations! You deserve it! Today kids just don't know what is a hard game!!!

After playing this game off and on over the course of about 30 years- I have beaten every level in this game at least once except the last one. Watching this video has opened my eyes to the possibility that there may literally be a warp on every level
There is nothing casual about the turbo tunnel. I'm pretty sure that is where my anxiety manifested and carried over to adulthood.
So beautiful. My first year of college I mastered this game, learning to beat all the levels, finally getting to the point where I could beat the game without losing a life. Never used the warps, never went for speed myself, but this is just art. Congratulations!
Congrats, man! This was a thing of beauty to behold. I remember the first time I beat this game was after a 4.5 hour all nighter. And you did it in 12 minutes! Very well executed!
The first time I beat the game for sure took me a lot longer, I was a 9 years old kid. Anyway the game is awesome that is why I kept playing it.
The Mexican Runner lol keep in mind I best it at the age of 16 after playing it since I was 5. So I guess 11 years and 4.5 hours.
I could never get passed the speeder bike as a kid.. Too fast..:(

I think this might be the very hardest NES game..
He glitched a game. And $20 says that he did all this crap in an emulator. I have beaten the game deathless and glitchless and have NEVER played it on an emulator. I learned every tiny bit of this game with playthroughs on a console. Every Game Over was a restart from level1. This guys is nothing special.

Memorizing it is really easy, but execution is the problem, also being able to react to different RNG and situations is what makes speedruns hard.
This is the game which is easier to beat in single player than with a teammate

Wow, I remember how hard this game was, playing with my brothers. We never got even CLOSE to the end. But man that Pause music made it all worthwhile. (And all the friendly fire, accidental or otherwise.) Great run, this was a joy to watch.

I saw you run this for AGDQ or maybe SGDQ but seeing this run is breathtaking. It makes me happy that I can still see speedruns that manage to shock me.

Human is not able to do this, he actually is an alien who is a friend with those toads. They cooperate with him to finish this run.
Well it is said that once in Million years the RNG gods aligned together, so this was just luck and hard work together.

2 weeks ago I get an Retropie . I thought I get back to the good times of my childhood. I knew there was something with battletoads . After i start to play i remember very fast how difficult it was and still is.

I remember me thinking that this game should probably have 3 to 5 levels. "Game can't have even harder levels after them right?"
After I get about 14 and got some experience playing different games I returned to battletoads and managed to finish rat race level. But generally I was so exhausted after it and psychologically destroyed that I quickly gave up on next level. It was a feeling those levels will never ends and they will be even harder.
I didn't now about tunnels thought. Except at the start of the game and at the and of turbo channel level. The first one I never used because on the next level there was an opportunity to earn a lot of lifes by hitting ravens. I was able to get from 10 to 20.
It was in no internet era.

I just beat Battletoads for the first time in my life. I started to think I'm a pretty good gamer myself. And then I saw this. :D

That was a thing of beauty to watch. The Ice Caverns stage was simply insane how you were able to dodge every single snowball, ice block, and spike. You had some crazy warp in the Turbo Tunnel that I'd never seen before, you knew every turn of the Speeder Bike stage, and you knew where every platform was in the revolving tower. There are some games where I feel like if I practiced them enough, I might be able to get close to the world record--Super Mario Bros. for example--but my jaw just hit the floor for this one.
Wow you improved a lot after that live speedrun.
Speedrunning is a constant development and yeah the more you practice/play the more you improve.

I’ve beat this game once as an adult with save states and played many times as a kid never getting far, I never knew this game had level skips that is really cool! I just recently started watching people run games and the stuff you learn about them is very extensive! Congrats on a great run!

I've always wondered why there are so few battles in a game called Battletoads! At any rate, absolutely INCREDIBLE work... I thought I knew every trick in the book regarding this game, but damn do I wish I had known about half these glitches when I was a young ninja trying to get through it! Congrats on your hard earned accomplishment.
I always said you're the Michael Jordan of video games. We believe in you TMR! You are the only speedrunner who is a true inspiration as a person. If my son said he wanted to be a speedrunner I'd say he is a fool. If he said he wanted to be like you I would give him my blessing.

Wow man, I was blown away by your skills in this video. Great job and congratulations to you on the world record. I myself just recently re-acquired an original copy of Battletoads for the NES. I've always loved the game for the challenge, it ranks very high on my list of all time great NES games plus it's one of my personal favorites because of the whole package, but I'm yet to beat it this time around (stuck on the tower). I had beaten it about 15 years ago for the 1st time in my life, but what I just saw in this video brought a huge smile to my face. I've never seen someone make this game their bitch the way you did. The funny thing is I watched you previously speed run this with a partner just a few days ago on one of the A.G.D.Q. videos. I thought that was pretty funny & very impressive, but this was absolutely amazing.

Lol no doubt! I've been playing Battletoads off and on for about 12 years (Genesis version though, sorry) and the way you went through Arctic Caverns is one of the craziest things I've ever seen, that level made me turn off the game more times than I can count. Amazing WR man, congrats.
