Fun video ! 😃
I’m currently just a mini 3 pro guy,
But I’m sure a lot of heavy hitters in the hobby will snap this up .
Nice review Cap !!
😎
great review Captain
Thanks for the video! 👍 What is interesting is that requires having an additional AD->DC power converter, good that it was pointed out in the video. I am not familiar with such devices; it might be standard knowledge that it not included.
Thank you.
Thanks for the great review.
At the beginning you mentioned that it charges 1S to 8S, but I noticed in the charger that it only charges 2S to 8S. That’s what it shows in the balance leads input.
Making up a set of adapter leads is par for the course for all chargers. To charge any number of 1-cell lipos you would need 1 x 2 leads for your 1s batteries soldered in series across a JST-XH balance plug with an XT60 lead soldered to the ends of the string. Plus a similar 3 x 1-cell lead string to take care of uneven numbers of 1-cell batteries.
The main problem with buying a flash multi function charger like this is that it is like choosing a Bugatti Veyron over a cluster of family sedans. Might be a You Beaut way to travel BUT, when the fan belt breaks, both you and all your family are going to be walking! 😜😱🙄
There is no such thing as a 1S balance lead so all chargers begin at 2s for the balance lead.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Correct! And charging/discharging all your 250mah 1s Tiny Whoop batteries 1 at a time rather than in a string on your You-Beaut balance/storage charger is a far better use of your gear (and time.) 😉😊
@@theoztreecrasher2647For my 1S batteries I use a 1s charger for simplicity. Buying a charger like this beast for 1s batteries is like buying an 18 wheeler semi truck so you can do your weekly grocery shopping 😀
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 😁 Correct! We use all the little 1-cell chargers that come with things like Syma X5C Quads and Volantex V761 Mini Warbirds plugged into gangs of USB wall adapters - well until they are shown to badly over/under charge the cells and limit our fun. (Or simply die!)
Then the common sense approach of switching to a simple series string adapter for our old faithful SkyRC B6AC v2 4-button chargers kicks in. A bit like using a cheap Asian hatchback to do your shopping - small, cheap, economical to run and a big orifice to shove it all in. 😉
Same for discharging unused cells at the end of the day, but that also can be switched to the same string adapters to be used with the cheap little multi-cell dischargers/balancers available now.
Add a fistful of the $2 little battery alarm/voltage readout units so everyone in the gang can have in their battery boxes and we're all set for Sunday fun! Enjoy yours there too, Steve. 😊
I want a ac choice.but for now I have a number b4 charger , it a c .the b6 model you could buy ac or run off a battery. Thank goodness I only use mostly 3.7 volt only my hubsans used bigger batteries, they came with a decent charger.but you fly everything .Thanks for another great review.
Holy Crap Captain !!! (that, BTW, is a "Captain Droneism" !!!!); this baby could get NASA back into the space race!!!!!!; only part of the video I actually understood was the Mini 4 charging sequence! (the Mavic 3 USB charger has the same quick charge effect); regardless, amazing piece of tech !!!!
Good 1 Steve
Hi, good day Steve. A little off topic but I wanted to ask have you seen the drone lifebuoy that's been making news? Looks like a genius idea should it be available in the popular locations. As you often fly on the shores of your local river. I wondered if you could look into this. All the best.
Do you mean this? czcams.com/video/w-4CILVXeCQ/video.htmlsi=a6fVI0K3SGSPq42G
Awesome job 👏. When is it coming to Amazon?
My guess is you’ll see it on AMAZON by the fall or late summer.
Nothing about regenerative discharge, external discharge options, MPPT power source, balance start voltage?
Such items tend to “bore the hell” out of viewers so I leave them out, but show the settings where knowledgeable people can figure out the answers to such questions (watch the part where I quickly go through the settings).
This got LIHV?
Tell me, does the internal resistance of the batteries show correctly or is this function not accurate? :) I need to test the wear level of batteries at my work. I can, of course, do this with a special device, but it’s more convenient right away while charging. Thank you.
Such charges are capable of being tuned which leads me to believe they are not “perfectly” accurate out of the factory.
Is the stylus included ?
That is an AMAZON purchase
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 THankyou.
Nice video, do you think dji drones are gonna be banned in california? They keep putting videos on youtube?
Things are weird all over the world with stupid people everywhere in all areas of politics with stupid sheep people listening to them, so your guess is as good as mine.
Can you see the screen ok in broad daylight?
Yes, but you will need to adjust the screen to full brightness and move it up/down until there is no glare.
Can I use the ADP200 200W 10A power supply used with the M8D charger ?
Probably. Most AC to DC power supplies will work.
Good review 👍👍
This needs an external power supply right ?
External power can be another BATTERY or a DC power supply or an AC to DC power supply
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 it would need ALOT of power though !
Thanks for a great review CD. The lack of ac input is a deal breaker for me but seems a nice unit otherwise. Just seems dumb to require purchasing an ac/dc transformer. Oh well, that's why you do reviews right? Happy flying amigo 🫡 🍻.
In the RC Hobby, the more powerful chargers are DC & the hobby enthuisast (charging BIG Batteries) love them. To add a transformer to this one to make it AC would have caused the cost to go up and the watt power to drop, making it less attractive to the masses. In the future we may begin to see 8S chargers with large wattage outputs available at a great price (maybe in year 2025).
Thanks for the response and additional info CD. I really appreciate you creating content that I find interesting, informative, and entertaining. I am in the RC hobby and have been a drone pilot for over ten years and still prefer having my battery charger on wall power input (120v here in the USA). It's the most convenient way for me anyway. I guess if I were to buy one of these chargers, I'd purchase one of the AC/DC transformers like you have there. Maybe 2025 will see them included in the charger design for a decent price. In the meantime, I'll continue to use my ten year old Tenergy 2s - 6s charger. Still works great, just not too many bells & whistles. Thanks again and happy flying amigo 🫡 🍻.
@@Sonic_Ox Yep. It's certainly a fancy bit of kit but I can't see it forcing all the el-cheapo 4-button charger makers into bankruptcy just yet. 😉😊
@@theoztreecrasher2647 indeed.
I would like ac model so there is a choice .
😢 Sigh.. a great review.. but again, it's at a time before it's available for actual purchase..
Oh well...
Strange. It was launched to the world in mid May. Some stores should have stock.
@CAPTAINDRONE798 I'll keep checking my friend.. I would like to purchase two.. Oh and BTW I'm thinking of giving RC helicopter another try.. because of your information.. Take care
