Literally every little detail covered! I’m new to this PC/GPU game and I feel like videos like this are showing me the light!
every delait so much detail that u get lost on what you have to do, more comfusing than problem solving
Thank you for creating the detailed tutorial! Looking forward for more videos!
First? This is super informative, thanks MSI team! A great in-depth use of Afterburner. I learned a lot of tips and hotkeys I didn't know existed. I watched the whole thing and not a second wasted this is one of the best jam packed informative video productions I have seen on CZcams. You got a like from me and I'm sharing with friends.
this walkthru is amazing for a noob wanting to learn. THANK YOU
Great tutorial!💯
how can i get "the amount we found"? I have stuck at 8:13
please give more info about the Undervolt + oc scanner
Once your done with teh curve editor. Do you have to set your core voltage and fan power back down to a setting?
Literally saving lifes (PC and sometimes personal lifes haha)
Insane good software wirth everything built in
Thanks a lot :)
Results are unstable, rtx3080 brand new. What might be some things that causing it? It says limiting factor: voltage like yours but instead of succeeded, it says OC unstable however it still selects a curve en settings and stuff
Is there are use case for some of these tweaks/adjustments for streaming PCs? I play on an Xbox Series X, but stream from a PC. I just build my first rig with an MSI RTX 4060ti 16gb Gaming X Slim White. My GPU rarely breaks a sweat until I'm doing some hardcore video editing/rending in Premiere Pro. I'm just trying to figure out if there are ways I can make it more efficient and improve performance. I'm going to be streaming and rending videos in 4k soon and want to make sure I'm running at peak performance.
could probably undervolt a little to get some lower temp, which may very slightly increase performance or efficiency. don't see overclocking doing anything worth noticing for streaming rig with those specs, but it's a good learning experience and you can revert back so may aswell!
have fun!
4060 ti, check all boxes for voltage still grayed out?
Is there an app like Amd tuning section? , It's so much better and easier why Afterburner doesn't Make its panel like that
when will msi bring a new afterburner that let you unlock voltage on a 7800xt
i cant change core voltage, are 1080 gtxs not able to?
i didnt understand what to download in the beginning. some things lead me to fake websites and this just showes me that this guide is made for a quick video were only people who already know much about computers or laptops understand everything.
Dam look at those boxes in background. Give me one lol. 4090
For some reason I can't move the "Core Voltage" slider like in the video to overclock my RTX4080 super suprim X , Any ideas?
That is not undervolting. Flattening the curve up/down at a certain point means you are limiting the frequencies and thus limiting the voltage accordingly but that is NOT what is behind the true purpose of undervolting. Limiting the frequencies and voltage is trivial. Because it's the same as a simple power limiter. They could put a power percentage limiter option and that would do the exact same thing. The true purpose of undervolting is maintaining the same frequencies AND lowering the voltage to the point you get the best benefits while the system remains stable. The only true undervolt in that graph would be possible if you could move the points to the left. Telling the GPU: "keep increasing the frequency as usual.. but don't feed more power than...x"
I can't change anything on fan curve editor even after following your steps
i cant slide the power limit and the core voltage even i unlock voltage control and voltage monitoring. i need help
Because you have a low end gpu. It's locked.

hey im using a gaming laptop with an nvidia rtx 4060 gpu in it. im not able to get access to the voltage or fan speed for some reason. any tips?
I think that laptops are “locked” meaning you can’t tweak voltage and fan speed or curves, but you can tweak clocks (inside the power limits of course). My laptop is doin that too
@@agamemnonblanas8941 Oh great so they literally only thought about PCs and didnt care about laptops because you can easily overclock laptops too but ofc theire weaklings and dont want to "risk" anything
My Afterburner does not have the OC Scanner button. Yes I'm using the same UI.
Go in nvidia control panel, and click "enable developer settings" i think thats what its called but it fixes it.
Can you make an ACTUAL whitepaper where someone can read what all these settings are and what they do? I spent hours crawling the internet trying to find a manual even using AI and still couldnt find anything. For example, what is the difference between "memory usage" and "memory usage / process" in OSD? One just shows me a random number that i cant correlate to anything in afterburner or performance monitor. It's mindboggling that you would release a software without even the most basic whitepaper documentation.
memory usage overall, memory usage per process for gpu.
they are fairly straight forward.
memory usage overall, memory usage per process for gpu.
they are fairly straight forward.
I want to use gtx 960 with no 6 pin power only mobo so i need to undervolt it to never go above 70w(8 think its 75w
It doesn't let me change the voltage even after doing the settings
me 2
@8:16 where did you find the amount to drag it down???
just got a 4070 Super OC and the Core Voltage slider will not enable. it's locked. I have checked the unlock options.
same
How come when I do automatic scan it says.scan canceled
Im using a not to great gpu on my laptop and tbh i cant overclock it and idk why. i want to overclock it and there are harder ways to do it but if its because msi lockes it because of risks then im very disappointed
what do i do if i dont have curve editor???
Why under-volt 4xxx series? More voltage equal higher clock
less power consumption, less heat, less noise from fans and can reduce coil whine and finally your card only loss 2% performances so it is a win win
8:40 2x shift + enter not working, why?
For some reason it doesn’t let me change any settings
its damage my gpu?
results are unstable says OC scanner what now?
Use the self scanner, manual overclocking is unreliable
It will always say that because it is over your default
If you look closely at the video his says the same thing.
there is no temp limit setting
how the hell do you get the voltage monitoring and voltage slider to work w/ a 4070 super?? I've had 3 Zotac Amp Extremes over the last 8 years with this same PC and i've always been able to monitor voltage and use the voltage slider (although it was just a % slider and I couldn't put in exact numbers), but I just bought an ACTUAL msi card (4070 super gaming x slim) and I have a greyed-out voltage slider and no monitoring, despite trying all checkboxes (over and over again...), drop-down menu options, and re-installing the application (and trying different skins..). Nothing works. Is there a way to do this with a 4070 super without doing anything crazy like changing BIOS's or dismantling the card itself?
I had same issue!! Under the greyed out "Clock" section - click the up arrow! Your GPU should be the second option. Idk what that first option is - but my hunch is - if you have an x3d CPU, it has its own mini GPU. Im assuming thats what MSI is finding and wont allow you to change settings on. since it wouldnt have its own fan etc...
@@Blkswan911 I actually figured it out yesterday. Someone pointed out that there was a new version of Afterburner. I googled it and, sure enough, a new beta had been released 2 days ago. I hadn't noticed since my afterburner didn't even see a new version, even when I checked after seeing the new version on guru3d (it was ONLY on guru3d, not even the other official site, the actual msi afterburner page, lol).
The new beta had been updated with all the new codes for the 40-series "super" cards. So I tried installing it and, voila, voltage is back! :) So I guess until 2-3 days ago (around the 12th of feb, 2024) it wasn't even possible unless there was a way to edit the hardware database yourself.
btw, I have my iGPU disabled in BIOS (otherwise I'd probably be making that same mistake countless times, lol - that's why I just disabled it from day one, heh). Thanks for the suggestion, tho
same thing on my 4070 Super OC.
@@nonstar8182 I could have sworn I replied to this already.... But I solved my issue by upgrading to the newest version of Afterburner (4.6.6 beta). The app didn't tell me there was a new version (even a beta) even after I saw that it was uploaded to one of the 2 official sitges (guru3d) and ready for download. Someone on the official MSI forums pointed it out.
They needed to add the new "super" cards to the database, so if you want to monitor voltage and get the slider (though im not sure it does much/anything....), you need to get 4.6.6 from guru3D (even the other official site - the actual msi afterburner site) doesn't have it up for download yet (at least the other day they didn't; maybe now they do).
@intuit13 I ended up downloading GPU Tweak from Asus. I have an Asus card so figured that makes sense anyway and all of the voltage stuff was there. Thanks for the info.
Criminally under-sub'd
When I click oc scanner it doesn’t work, what can I do?
So what worked for me is in your "Nvidia Control Panel" at the top left you will see the "Desktop" tab click on that and select "Enable Developer Settings". After you do that you will now see a developer dropdown option will appear on the left hand side labeled "Mange GPU Performance Counter. Then click "Allow access to the GPU performance counters to allow access". Apply and run the OC Scanner. Hope this helped!
Yeah thanks this worked!
it dont work it reset all time on boot then curve works then not Bad sofftware
is anyone else having the issue where the core voltage is blanked out?
I have. On msi rtx4060, and obviously all others because this tool is real garbage and nothing works there
i have issue it doesnt let me do anything with fans
same
the line doesn't flatten in the current release of afterburner.
same, and the ui is changed too.. I don't wanna tweak something I don't know
DISCLAIMER FOR EVERYONE NEW HERE!!! So apparently msi afterburnder is literally for people who pay 3k for a gaming PC like high end PCs so for the 99% of us here we cant use it because it could very easily destroy our whole system. So if you dont have the best rtx or gx then i wouldnt do it
yo can i have one free msi laptop
Your free a software?!.Really?!
I've been using this same software for over 5 years, it's pretty great considering it's completely free, and regularly updated.
@@sniffles8655You dont understand that this software is not from MSI right?
After installing Afterburner, Windows 11 settings crashes if selecting certain categories, such as 'Power'. When I uninstal Afterburner, the settings work normally. How to fix that issue?
