First place I was ever taken fishing, "hooked" ever since. Love the pier, visit at least once a year. Thank goodness for all of the lovely people who volunteer their time to keep the pier running & beautiful. Absolute Heros. ❤

Brings back memories. I was born there 1937 and left 1955. watching Paddle steamers Consul and Embassy whilst fishing on the pier

Thanks, I visit Swanage as often as I can , and have many happy memories .
The pier is a real focal point of the town, a stroll along its length is a sensory joy , especially early morning , and evening.
I urge all visitors to help maintain this Victorian pier paying to stroll, and in doing so creating memories to cherish for themselves!

the 4" naval gun from the carartan is located just to the east of the end of the pier, there's also a natural sink hole 200 mts off the end of the pier.
