Vegan Boi, imho, most probably he is one of the best, because he really has achieved something that very few directors have. No bad movie (up to now) and always good storytelling. If something is a mastepiece of his work or not, critics and people will be judges, but he really is a constantly stable storyteller through cinema, not to mention how cleverly and successfully he used special effects as tools for telling his story in a way that matters. I honestly believe that both movies are good too... Look, not all his movies are great, but honestly I have never experienced a bad or mediocre movie of what I have seen and I have seen almost all his movies. I believe that he really understands what is the base of good storytelling in cinema and he applies that on his movies every time.And this is something - at least - worth mentioning...

What probably really appealed to him is the fact that the Venice is a large format VistaVision sized camera. The sensor has a 1.50:1 aspect ration (36x24mm or Full Frame) wich means it can be easily formatted to 1.43:1 for the IMAX release, and reformatted to 1.85:1 for the general 3D release. The 6.5K sensor output can be scaled down to 4K without the need for de-bayering while retaining enough dynamic range as the pixels are relatively big. Now I only wonder what he will do with the frame rate.

That's what he'll probably do. He's done that on numerous of his previous films. Back in the day a film like the Abyss showed more of the frame in 4:3 VHS than the 2.40:1 cinema version. This why the 1.50:1 Venice is ideal, as it has 6.5K native resolution and a very clean image - perfect for the vast amounts of CGI that will be used.
But they still can't give a flippable touch screen on a 1000$ Mirrorless....

I remember people working with Cameron saying he is incredibly demanding. And now you see why. He is not willing to settle. He wants the best, and if that means waiting and confronting the engineering aspects himself.. then that's what will happen.. the guy knows what he wants. And proves himself over and over. It's insane the dedication he puts into the things he is interested in. We need more People willing to take things further, and stop settling for ok.. that will do.. 😀

I'm actually sad how long it's taking. I hope it comes out 2020 DECEMEBER. They always holding back avatar 2+. They put up other movies rather than avatar when avatar was meant to come out before. They had a plan to release avatar 2 in 2014, then 2018 and now 2020. Wish for the best. I hope this year really goes good for Avatar 2. I miss Avatar💙

he still hasn't told us why he is shooting Avatar Sequels ?
He's doing 2, 3, 4, and 5 sequel films back to back so that way once he releases the 2nd one, he will start releasing 3, 4, and 5 probably like every few months or so, so that way the story can kind of tie in with one another. So let say if the sequel releases in December, he will then release the 3rd one in May or June, and then the 4th one in the fall, and so on. I dunno. Something like that.
