  • Hey guys. This was a very difficult video for me to film, sorry that it's so long, but it does touch on a few very important points. My dog, Alice, was put down earlier this year and the entire process was treated very wrongly by several vets and it has caused both her and me a lot of pain. Hopefully this can spread some awareness and help ensure that this does not happen to other people and animals as well.
I hope you have an amazing day!

Both veterinarians handled the situation horribly. The younger vet failed to interpret the x-ray and the second veterinarian didn't care about Alice's welfare and didn't care about the quality of life she would have lived if she continued with the treatments. He just wanted to milk more money from you with more unnecessary treatments. All veterinarians in this situation showed a lack of professionalism. I am so sorry this happened to you and Alice 😭. Thank you for sharing your story 🙏🏾

I’m so sorry. I can see the pain in your eyes and how much she meant to you by how you talk about her. Those vets were completely in the wrong. I hope you are doing okay.

Had about the same experience with a vet and it just is so bad to think that we trust them to do what is best for our pets and it is like they do not care

Thank you so much Nina for great videos on becoming a vet oh and 1 more question i wanted to no is job opportunities here in South Africa or in other countries and how would you be able to apply to different countries or how would you start up in SA

Hey! There is a big shortage in vets in South Africa, so there are a lot of job opportunities here. I'm not 100% sure about other countries, but since all countries have animals, all countries need vets, so I think you would be able to find work in most places. In South Africa, it works the same as most other jobs, you study and get your degree, then you have to do one year compulsory community service where you work at a state vet and then you can apply to whatever job you want to do. I know that when you get your degree at Onderstepoort it is internationally recognized, but different countries have different requirements for you to work in them, so I'm not sure what they are
I hope this helped a little bit 😊

Hey! I'm not sure, but I'm trying to find out, you can also email Ms Riba @ teballo.riba@up.ac.za, she is the faculty student advisor for veterinary students so she should be able to give you advice 😊
