Just please remember that the oil can become hot enough to ignite the parchment paper on fire! And if you somehow manage to ignite the paper, just leave it in the oil, and cover the pan with a lid, kill the heat to the pan, and wait for the fire to stop. Don't be pouring water on a grease fire, and don't panic and fling the burning paper into a trash can or risk splashing the hot oil around.
Absolutely. As someone who’s suffered boiling oil burns, seriously take caution when near any water source or just deep frying in general. It’s so easy for everything to go haywire without even realizing. I had oil get too hot and took it outside to keep our smoke alarm from going off (it’s built into our house which is from the 60’s and it sounds like what you’d hear in an industrial factory there’s also no button to turn it off) and I sat the pot down far away from our house. But little did I know that my ex step dad had watered the grass the day before and where I sat the pot down was wet not knowing he’d done it until the oil just slightly sloshed over and reacted with the water. The entire pot boiled over on my hand and foot. It’s not a pain I’d wish on my worst enemy.
