As a bisexual who's gotten hate from both straight and gay communities, as well as had tons of friends in both, it really is pretty sad how many actual issues are ignored in favor of the "he said"/"she said" garbage on social media and the news. Laugh at as many things as you like, and close the tab when a video is pissing you off, it's worked for me so far.

@@mellamosteve331 I couldn't really give you a good comparison by quantity, but I will say that the most intense messages came from members of the gay community. A few individuals that felt I held the wrong political views, or didn't represent their brand, or whatever. See, when a straight person sends me hate, it's just bog standard bigotry. When a member of the LGBT community sends me hate, they're usually acting like I am somehow an existential threat to their way of life. Again, that's not really representative of the gay community as a whole, as it's usually only the most stupid and vocal members that act in such a way.

@@edcaous Yeah, one of the main things that I dislike is the idea that there's really an "us", in that sense. Yes, we share the fact that we are in a sexual minority, and to some extent it is wise for us to support each other, but that does not mean that we have to exist as a cohesive whole. We don't have to share the same interests beyond self-preservation, and it's annoying that so many in the LGBTQ+ "community" that seem to think that we need to have all kinds of things in common. I see no reason for us to have to share economic or political beliefs beyond those that would continue to enable our existence.

@@sirusshard2971 I'm a bisexual too and I hate how common it is that whenever we talk about biphobia every single one of us brings up the fact that the worst of it comes from other gay people.
I always try to talk about it and bring light to it but I'm always silenced and called a homophobe or a lesbianphobe and harass because of it.
This is the reason why so many of us don't feel safe in the LGBT community because in the sense we're all being kicked out.

"As you've stated yourself "He's saying this to be offensive for the sake of offending people", that's an interpretation of how you feel rather than what happened, I will give a copy and paste of the full context of what was said, his full statement:
"I’m team TERF. I agree. I agree, man. Gender is a fact. You have to look at it from a woman’s perspective. Look at it like this, Caitlyn Jenner whom I have met, wonderful person. Caitlyn Jenner… was voted, woman of the year. Her first year as a woman. Ain’t that something? Beat every b*tch in Detroit. She’s better than all of you. [laughter] Never even had a period, ain’t that something? [laughter] I’d be mad as shit if I was a woman. I’d be mad if I was me. If I was in the BET awards, sitting there and they’re like “And the winner for n*gg3r of the year… Eminem.” My man. [audience laughs] Gender is a fact, this is a fact. Every human being in this room, every human being on Earth had to pass through the legs of a woman to be on Earth. That is a fact. [laughter] Now… I am not saying that to say, that trans women aren’t women. I’m just sayin, that those pussies that they got… You know what I mean?" - Source via scrapsfromtheloft
You can reasonably conclude that he isn't a TERF himself, but some of the concerns and opinions of TERF are valid, trans women have made their way into women exclusivities, namely sports and such; they have been breaking records and dominating the field due to the biological advantage differences and that's namely the part he agrees on, he himself also stated that he isn't saying that trans women aren't real women,(Which directly contradicts the belief of a TERF's political ideology) he's specifically saying that the upset is understandable, and finds it empathizable that people would understandably feel cheated. When you've dedicated your entire identity to a career, just to be bested by someone who changed their gender identity, it becomes an issue. It's been debated about for a while, with the most common argument being that trans people should have their dedicated section, which is fair criticism but has yet to be executed."

If people want to say that his jokes offended them, they can go right ahead and say that they did.
Jokes are jokes, freedom of speech is freedom of speech. The left and the right need to realize that it goes both ways. To be able to have the freedom to make edgy jokes, people have the freedom to be offended.
Not that I'm saying I agree with the people who are offended. These jokes don't really effect me. However it goes both ways. Listening to most of the jokes, Dave Chappelle actually talks in support of trans people, sure, he pokes fun at us, but that's the point of a joke. He states in one joke "I believe these people". He also uses the correct pronouns for the trans people he makes jokes about.

I enjoy both Lewis' and Chappelle's comedy, however this isn't entirely the whole story. Dave, during his special, explicitly endorsed a hate group, TERFs. Jokes are more than fine, I celebrate them; However these comments in his special betray the fact that he lacks the same understanding on trans issues that make his jokes on race so funny. If a non-carpenter made a funny joke on carpenters, that was however misinformed, most people would find it funny while carpenters do not, because it relies on false information.
He also said that he "stood with TERFs" during the special, which is an anti-trans hate group, which is not a good thing to say, regardless of it being a joke, because that sort of thing can lead to real harm. Whether this was malicious or not, it is not a great thing to do. It's a bit like if a white guy endorsed the KKK during a comedy special. I hope that Lewis may address this in the future.

Lewis when an employer disrupts a business meeting and gets suspended: Deserved it
Lewis when an instigator is disruptive at a protest (for content), fucks around and finds out: They could have killed him. That’s pure out of control rage and violence. There were edgy jokes nbd. Only thing that was really an issue was issue is the team TERF shit. Dave explicitly said he dose think Trans women are women, and then said that TERF shit. TERFs by definition believe trans women are men and trans men are women. So it’s like wrong by his own logic. I think there was more but I haven’t finished and I think that was the big one.
As for the getting mad at a joke, that wasn’t a joke. Lots of jokes in that special, that was just a serious statement. Being said, I don’t think he should be canceled or whatever. Someone just needs to be like “hey Dave, you’re not making any sense. You demonstrated you’re more/less chill w/ trans people, y u shoutin out the Trans Exclusionary Radical Feminists? That makes zero sense.”

They didn’t care that he was making trans jokes, they were just bored because he keeps making the SAME trans jokes.
They themselves make trans jokes during their sets. They’re just tired of Dave making the same jokes over and over.
