Funny reading some of these comments. Complaining the price of the bike has gone up since 1987, really 🤦🏻♂️? Everyone wants this or that added. Hey, it’s an TW200. 😂
Perfect for this homeless senior citizen... problem is, after gov docked my retirement to less than poverty level, I can't afford groceries and rent, i.e. homeless... and since I'm not a "minority", I can't get assistance... paid my whole life for it, but can't get it... just trying to get off grid... too old school to do one of those "everybody give a dollar" schemes...
If you had a TW then you could park at the DMV ( Department of Motor Vehicles) and rent it to people needing to take the motorcycle road test. The guys with huge baggers would for sure pay you to use it.
can ask a relative to start a gofundme, for a tw money that shouldnt be too hard with a touching story, personally i really wouldn't mind pitching 10box for a fellow TW'er, and there's A LOT of us... _
Did they ever make a bigger one. A 350cc would be a great size for a bit extra bhp for the road. 200cc is just a bit under powered for the road. In saying that I've got a Rock hopper Japanese import.
They made a BW350 but it was not street legal. I have one and it is awesome. They only made it 2 years. Maybe one day they will make a bigger TW. I sure hope so.
I'm glad that it is still carbureted. There are very few non computerized bikes still available new. Unfortunately, as a 64 year old with some disabilities, it has a couple of issues that make it unsuitable for me. One is the seat height. You measured it at 32", but it is actually quite a bit higher than that at the back of the seat, and you have to swing your leg over the back of the seat to get on. I had to give up my XT225 because I could no longer get my leg over the seat without standing on something. I rode it that way for a while, then decided that I would not be able to repair a flat tire by myself out in the middle of nowhere. It was extremely difficult at home. It would be great if Yamaha would put tubeless tires on this bike. I managed to find a way to continue riding off road, by getting a used Honda Rebel 300, which has both a low seat and tubeless tires, and putting a bash plate on it. It works amazingly well.
no it's not... you feel the tank, and when it emptied, you switch to reserve and got plenty of miles to pass 3 gaz stations... personally i wouldn't want one for sure. _
@@MuktiLuv Well, that's completely fine, it doesn't mean other owners wouldn't want one. You may feel the tank but not everyone has a telepathic connection to their bike. Some riders want a barebones experience, other people prefer extra safety and convenience.
@@TaskSwitcherify bike is crazy light, just stop and move it side to side, you're gonna feel it, i promise you that, just minimal experience... sure doesnt mean others wouldnt want one, but i can guarantee you that most others wouldn't want one, thats part of the barebone/basic/no problem/no bells n wistle appeal of the bike, and the fact is that you really dont need one, reserve tank as i said, which other bike dont have and which is actually safer, you can forget to look at a meter and run dry and be stranded or it might not be accurate and they rarely are, but you cant not notice that the bike stopped, or is missing gaz in fact, so reach down, dont even stop, twist, make a mental note, done... convenience maybe i guess, arguably, safety not at all... fun fact, i got 7 bikes, 5 got gaz meters, got stranded empty with all of them multiple times and needed to push or be pushed, the other 2 are Tdubs and never happend once,... if you really want one though, just mod it man, but that just would be a negative move from yamaha, for a fact. _
@@MuktiLuv You're an advanced rider capable of upgrading your bike, which is very cool. I had a more novice audience in mind 🙂 Of course, a *good* fuel gauge would have extra features. It would sound an alarm and send a notification to your phone at pre-set intervals, e.g. at the 50%, 25% and the critical 10% mark. You wouldn't miss those. A nice fuel gauge/computer should also show the mileage remaining, just like your car does. I bet most people would be willing to sacrifice a few ounces for that kind if safety and convenience.
@@TaskSwitcherify ya, your issue is that you would like this bike to be something it's not... thats not a "high tech city going to work commuter", thats a "low tech, wont break far in the forest utility" or a "camping/fishing without access to electricity safe mobility"... advanced or novice doesnt matter, there's a ton of shop that you can pay to do that for you... safety, again as i said thats the opposite, more tech isn't safer, notifications arent safer, those are potentially confusing things that breaks or that you ignore or missed... convenience, that is arguable, if that's for you and you're using it as a city commuter, then cool add the thing, personally man, i dont even have a phone, so, i got a blackberry 9700 somewhere that i rarely use, lol... you say "extra features" like if it's a good thing, that's a question of pov and use, but most TW users dont want more but less...personally too i never saw a bike that advise you on your phone of % remaining, but again i dont have a phone, that would just be distracting and still useless, "hey, you're on reserve now, and it's physically impossible that you missed it" is perfect, i know how many miles this is, i dont need a precise display for that, the gaz point just must be less than that, not to mention that your phone battery is now another issue... Find a dealer that will let you put a deposit on an incoming tw. While you wait keep shopping around sometimes people cancel because they find closer options. But usually every dealer gets 2-4 but they're almost always pre sold since covid and the shitty economy. It's the cheapest "cool" motorcycle you can buy at just about $5500 out the door.
why?, same bike from 35 years ago... get it at 1/4 of the price and put a ton af mods. make it 6-speed, put a turbo, rear disc, wiseco piston, make it 250cc, change the gearing obviously and a bar riser, better tires, full light kit addons, etc, etc... older ones were nicer anyway, and carbu still got more punch.... only changes from 1987 are EFI and front disc, all other parts are fully interchangeable. _
@@EstTheSword because it isnt perfect, unless it's meant to trail maybe... city/highway it's lacking, stock piston compression is low, 250cc is better obviously, 6th is welcomed on the highway unless you wanna be reving like a madman, if you want to reach 140kph then turbo... rear disc is cool but i admit they are over-rated... stock 14/50T is garbage... lights are minimal... 90% of Tdub owners add a riser for a good reason, it's too low... _

Love the new color and tank scheme
me too
It was cool in the day and still is, that fat rear tire just sets it off. 👍

So how much is it
any tips on how to snag one of these unicorns?
If you go to Yamaha website you can search dealer inventory. They are still very hard to get but things are getting a little better.

Same bike since 87 but quadruple in price
Only tripled in the US over the 36 years.
If it had 300cc, efi and a 12 liter tank it would be the best selling bike , ever.

I like the 2023 too

It is NOT EFI.
32" seat height is definitely not "low" The Honda Rebel 300 is 27.2". That is considered a "low" seat height.
31.1
The Triumph Bobber also has a 27.2 seat height
Still consider a low seat in the adventure bike category. Cruiser bikes offer lower seat option.
