Pros : Jimny is a purely a off road vehicle for people living in mountain, hilly areas, estates, or village where there is no proper roads. Cons : It is not a city or highway car. There is no comfort at rear seat. Your back will hurt a lot after driving few kms, There is body rolling in curve roads, Not a family car, no comfort at the rear seat its just like seating in a bench, straight seats, no leg room space, no boot space. No much features like no bottle holder in door, no armrest, no sunglass holder, many more.... engine average, built quality is not good. Its a 3 star car. If you have senior citizens at home then they cant climb & sit in the car. Its very very difficult. Basically there is no ingress & egress.

If you ask any jimny owners, they just in loved with it. My friend owns bmw and jimny 3 door in Dubai, whenever he feels he need his personal space he always takes his jimny for drive. Yathi ji Gypsy was 2nd Gen Jimny and it's unparalleled legend can not be matched easily. Present Jimny 4th Gen has its own legend especially the 3 door version. May be now Car Market of INDIA do not understand this car ... however in future the Battle Hardened Jimny will be in demand the way Gypsy is today. It's a purpose built off-road vehicle. In India nobody really use it that way to understand it's capability, instead looks at the presence and image on the road. Also it's no VFM for the average indian buyer as it's a pure lifestyle vehicle not a family SUV . Also it's not a mass market vehicle. Gypsy also sold in 3 digits only, Gypsy never had Thar like sales still army was buying it .Indian market misunderstood the vehicle. it's selling well outside India.

Whatever people may have opinions about jimny,it's pros n cons but it got a rich legacy worldwide as a capable offroader vehicle. Right from 70's model LJ10, SJ30, katana, gypsy etc; it has always thrill adventure seeking people. This is the 4th gen 5 door model, debuted in india. I like jimny for its smooth engine n compact size.For me as a inhabitant of hill area, I ride daily on this lovely mountain goat and had conquered many tough and unreachable places without any trouble. Well torque to weight ratio, the higher the better.Every car manufacturers have their own standards to calculate this ratio according to their specific models.jimny has too got good ratio.However in real world due to weight coefficient of the car compared to its available torque,jimny is good at slow speed but at higher rpm, I mean at highways seems it lags. To my knowledge I know 2 perfect cars in india which have good torque to weight ratio, that is wagon r and vw polo GT.

Jimmy is not butch like the thar.. Not imposing and is cramped at the rear also the width of the jimny is less which is restricted to two adults and a third person will definitely fell the space crunch... Even the boot space is nothing to write home sbout... A diesel or hybrid would also have made better sense... These factors limit the capabilities of the jimny.... Nice points covered 👍

Good it failed ...it's not a mass market car..it's build for one purpose - off roading.. something most Indians will never attempt except their for the potholes on their cities. It's an exclusive car and a great addition to our garage as the our last fossil car!

Avoid unnecessary accessories and features and on road price should be below 10L. Actually people living in rural areas really need this Off roader but cannot afford it because people in rural areas are average income or middle class group.

What is the point of comparing ex showroom price in India to Australian price when Indian tax structure is extremely high? In Nepal, Creta costs 10 lakhs more than India for the same model because Nepal has 220% tax on cars. Well, the Jimny hasn’t failed. MSIL’s market assessment, pricing (greed) and vague model variations failed them. The Jimny is neither a “peoples car “nor a Cadillac ! The Nexa badge means nothing. MSIL could have introduced the 3 door few years ago. That version has been in production for export for quite a while now. At less than 10L on the road that would have found reasonable acceptance. Could have made it to order like the Gypsy. They gave some business to M&M in a gift wrap. M&M probably has a gutsier management and a quick acting engineering team. They offer the Thar in all conceivable formats. A great car nonetheless. Bullet proof driveline ( credit to Suzuki Japan) simple reliable petrol motor, lightweight …will hopefully justify the high price in the long run for folk who we’re passionate and invested in one. * Certainly deserves a 50 litre tank !

Overpriced jimmny
Pros : Jimny is a purely a off road vehicle for people living in mountain, hilly areas, estates, or village where there is no proper roads. Cons : It is not a city or highway car. There is no comfort at rear seat. Your back will hurt a lot after driving few kms, There is body rolling in curve roads, Not a family car, no comfort at the rear seat its just like seating in a bench, straight seats, no leg room space, no boot space. No much features like no bottle holder in door, no armrest, no sunglass holder, many more.... engine average, built quality is not good. Its a 3 star car. If you have senior citizens at home then they cant climb & sit in the car. Its very very difficult. Basically there is no ingress & egress.

If you ask any jimny owners, they just in loved with it. My friend owns bmw and jimny 3 door in Dubai, whenever he feels he need his personal space he always takes his jimny for drive. Present Jimny 4th Gen has its own legend especially the 3 door version.
May be now Car Market of INDIA do not understand this car ... however in future the Battle Hardened Jimny will be in demand the way Gypsy is today.
And Yes Maruti Suzuki did blunders with the price point ... and the market did show it to the Car OEM.

It's a purpose built off-road vehicle. In India nobody really use it that way to understand it's capability, instead looks at the presence and image on the road. Also it's no VFM for the average indian buyer as it's a pure lifestyle vehicle not a family SUV . Also it's not a mass market vehicle. Gypsy also sold in 3 digits only, Gypsy never had Thar like sales still army was buying it .Indian market misunderstood the vehicle. it's selling well outside India.

Whatever people may have opinions about jimny,it's pros n cons but it got a rich legacy worldwide as a capable offroader vehicle. Right from 70's model LJ10, SJ30, katana, gypsy etc; it has always thrill adventure seeking people. This is the 4th gen 5 door model, debuted in india. I like jimny for its smooth engine n compact size.For me as a inhabitant of hill area, I ride daily on this lovely mountain goat and had conquered many tough and unreachable places without any trouble. Well torque to weight ratio, the higher the better.Every car manufacturers have their own standards to calculate this ratio according to their specific models.jimny has too got good ratio.However in real world due to weight coefficient of the car compared to its available torque,jimny is good at slow speed but at higher rpm, I mean at highways seems it lags. To my knowledge I know 2 perfect cars in india which have good torque to weight ratio, that is wagon r and vw polo GT.

But same engine... so yes one do feel little lag on steep climbs ... but you've to rev it really hard arnd 5000 rpm to negotiate climbs some time....

Jimmy is not butch like the thar.. Not imposing and is cramped at the rear also the width of the jimny is less which is restricted to two adults and a third person will definitely fell the space crunch... Even the boot space is nothing to write home sbout... A diesel or hybrid would also have made better sense... These factors limit the capabilities of the jimny.... Nice points covered 👍

Bottomline is insanely high price. Marketing head Mr. Shashank Srivastava and his marketing team became too greedy. True Jimny lovers like me felt the heat, Maruti as a company lost market share. Maybe Mr. Srivastava got a wage hike/ promotion! I'm not sure.

What is the point of comparing ex showroom price in India to Australian price when Indian tax structure is extremely high? In Nepal, Creta costs 10 lakhs more than India for the same model because Nepal has 220% tax on cars. Well, the Jimny hasn’t failed. MSIL’s market assessment, pricing (greed) and vague model variations failed them. The Jimny is neither a “peoples car “nor a Cadillac !
The Nexa badge means nothing.
MSIL could have introduced the 3 door few years ago. That version has been in production for export for quite a while now. At less than 10L on the road that would have found reasonable acceptance. Could have made it to order like the Gypsy. They gave some business to M&M in a gift wrap.
M&M probably has a gutsier management and a quick acting engineering team. They offer the Thar in all conceivable formats.
A great car nonetheless. Bullet proof driveline ( credit to Suzuki Japan) simple reliable petrol motor, lightweight …will hopefully justify the high price in the long run for folk who we’re passionate and invested in one.
* Certainly deserves a 50 litre tank !

Better torque to weight ratio.
3 door and 5 door comes with same engine so there is a little compromise on the torque and power both because of increase in weight
However the Mean and Atheletic Jimny still do what is is supposed to do very well.
