I think Bowl Games are still important for two reasons:
- Allows chances for younger players to continue to improve by giving them 3-4 weeks of extra practice that teams without bowl games don’t get
- Winning a bowl game still brings in money for for programs. Bowl games are still huge for non power 5 teams. A 500,000 bowl payout, while not much for a power 5 school, is huge for a non power 5 school
