How to Install Schluter Systems Drain Kit. Video was taken at a Schluter Workshop. Highly recommended to attend! Thanks for watching and subscribe for more videos!
A mistake here. Hard to see but at 0:46 look at the two screws on the grate. Then look at the plastic ring being embedded in the thinset. The plastic ring has two larger slots (about 45 degrees rotation from the grate) that are supposed to line up with the screws. In certain situations, this will not allow you to set the drain low enough as the two screws will be resting on the ring instead of going through those holes. Hope that makes sense.
Hmm, doesn’t seem like there’s much thinset under the metal portion of the drain he’s tapping on. What stops it from settling more? After watching other videos this is a pretty big omission(!) You definitly want thinset in there.
I thought the same thing then I ordered the schluter kit. When you look at the round piece of abs it has small slots along it that act as the weep holes. It’s interesting once you see that small detail
Yes, from a Schluter workshop and it's free! They even feed you breakfast, lunch and dinner! It's a must go. www.schluter.com/schluter-us/en_US/workshops_for_professionals Yes, most of the people at the workshop are DIY'ers, its definitely worth it.
I think this vid does not justice to the SK system. Both guys have no idea what they are doing, ppl in this comment section are trying to be nice, without being too critical. Just delete the video! This is an embarrassment.
yep stopped watching after 7 seconds, hiding the plumbing with mortar before video starts doesn't let you viewers see the difference between a perfect world and what they will be seeing

Thanks for the tip
Facts
Only needed for smaller tile though. 2x2 is plenty thick enough to where you don’t need to line up the holes
I learn more in the comments than I do just in the videos most of the time. Thank you
even after two years your comment was more helpful then video. Thank you!!!

Is this from a Schluter workshop? Can a DIY attend one and is there a cost to attend?
Try that with a pebble mosaic floor. Not as easy as laying a square around a square.
Haha yes most of the mosaics I put now are hexagons. Not nearly the same as a perfect cut out haha
Pebbles are a mother fucker
Any chance they explain how water that gets onto the membrane will exit with no weep holes?

do they make a drain extension for this drain ? l am going tile on tile and need an extension of about 3/8 of an inch🤔

Been to 8 back as far is 2008 in sc one of the first in the country . Great time great program great product
So.....if Im seeing this correctly, the drain and thr bracket in the floor dont actually touch each other?
I like your videos but why are you troweling opposite direction?
Mosaic tile doesn’t matter which direction. Air gets out since it’s a much much smaller format
What’s the name of the material ?
😱😱😱 you mean have to start from here...
Watching..?

The old method is better
He started some where in the middle of the process....Why?
this was a Schluter workshop 8 years ago, they were training us
