- Sí Bheag Sí Mhór is a tune normally attributed to the blind harper Turlough O'Carolan from around 1670 - 1738. I love it for it's melody. But it also reminds me of a man I once knew who would sing a powerful song to this air. It's commonly requested during weddings and it sounds particularly nice in a church setting. Imagine that it is said that this was likely Turlough O'Carolan's first composition! It's quite amazing but hardly surprising considering the amazing music he would go on to create during his life time.

My husband is an Uilleann piper. He performed one time at a venue when an elderly man came up to me and said, "That's something you'll won't hear every day!" Thought but didn't say, "Well, actually, I do!"
"Thought but didn't say, "Well, actually, I do!""?
And aren't you lucky?
@@gloin10 I am, so! Another time when we were busking downtown, Tom had his sunglasses on when an older man came up to me and said, "He's blind, isn't he?" I was so tempted to say, "No, but he's deaf!""

I am a lucky person! Also, one who goes out of her way to not hurt another's feelings. Kindness costs nothing.@@gloin10
You're lucky
Imagine living your whole life in a small village only having ever heard a really good singer and then one of these comes and plays for you
These instruments come from small villages
When I first heard Liam O’Flynn play this I nearly cried. Deadly. Well done. Just lovely
I love listening to Planxty play this. Liam O'Flynn is amazing

@@Christopher1990z I hadn’t, but this is absolutely kickass, so thanks for the recommendation
Uilleann pipes are one of the most challenging instruments to learn.
You like celtic music
I play this tune on guitar in DADGAD tuning. This rendition is perhaps the best I have ever heard. Well done!
You play this old irish song of O'Carolan, the blind arpist, very well. My soul flays over the old Irishland. Thank you.

Realy apreasiatted that👍so good and a great musician " the pipes are a mistecal instrument to me👍 🙏🦋🙋
Just beautiful!
The playing sounds so natural and easy - although this tune must be quite a challenge on the uilleann pipes as it requires playing very high notes (the highest available if I am not mistaken?).
The regulators add a lot.
This is BEAUTIFUL, sir. Thanks a lot for sharing your talent and technique with the world. 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Darragh. That was top notch. Something about that instrument that always makes my eyes well up.

Uilleann pipes. ... the safest instrument you can play because they have a seat belt and an air bag!
Love that.
Pure magic, very gifted piper
Fan bloody tastick.
Lovely playing. What was the song that you heard being sung to it?
I'd be very interested in learning the lyrics too!
Absolutly beautifully played! Love it! May I ask? Is this a H. Morgenbrodt-Set? :)
Sorry for my late response. No. The set is made by Makoto. Amazing pipe maker.

Thank you ☺️
I find this . . . acceptable.
Iontach ar fad.
Notice the guitar slips out of beat . That's called not listing to the tune ...
aThere's no guitar.
