imagine someone watches this as their first introduction to the doom franchise
Imagine, hopefully it would show how deep the game can be, I'm still learning stuff now. I can remember when I thought this kind of gameplay seemed impossible, it doesn't even seem like that long ago but then to be fair I've been playing since launch. Was brand new to pc though so you can imagine how terrible I was back then lol. Had no idea what mouse DPI I wanted or what that even changed and I couldn't work the keyboard to save my life, also I wasn't looking at things like FOV so started off playing at 90 or whatever default was and struggled through the campaign on ultra-violence at a snails pace thinking I wouldn't ever even try nightmare but that was fun. Now I've beaten every campaign and master level available on ultra-nightmare, earned the top 100 slot for both slayer and demons and I'm very glad I did. Doom has taught me how to control my entire keyboard while maintaining aim and movement, forced me to become a better gamer just to beat it and they made it enjoyable the whole way through... Even though it was also extremely frustrating at times... Lots of the times ha. Worth it for sure though, that's a good point you make. I wonder and would like to hear what people new to doom think when watching this. Hopefully entertaining, maybe even educational although that's not the main aim of this video. As long as it's enjoyable I will be pleased but I can see how it could be a complete blur of chaos to someone fresh to the game. To those people I would say don't be put off, if I can get there, anyone can get there. It just takes time

@@WholesomePotato1 thanks very much, I appreciate that. On console it absolutely is different yes. I don't play console anymore but I was still running the sticks when doom 2016 came out. When I moved to PC a couple of years ago I could barely use the keyboard at all. I liked the mouse but moving and shooting whilst trying to find my crouch or prone button then get back up was insanely slow so I decided online shooters would be no good for me so I picked up doom 2016 again and played on the default difficulty and struggled at first then eventually struggled through one difficulty increase before doom eternal came out and I was hooked so jumped in again just happy to play whatever difficulty the game set me at by default, I still wasn't very good with the controls. I dabbled a bit in battlemode but then right back to the single player which is where I learned to control the keyboard and mouse, I liked watching speedruns and thought myself that I'll never even try anything like that but it is entertaining to watch. I got up to eventually being able to beat nightmare and even ultra-nightmare although I'd previously thought I'd never even consider giving those difficulties a try and I also started doing well in battlemode. I then struggled through each master level that came out until I could smash it and they launched the dread knight and streaks system with battlemode 2.0. I don't know how he's been balanced on console but on pc when the dread knight first came out I thought he was impossible to handle while in his berserk and I couldn't catch him to deal damage when it ran out so decided I had no choice but to give the ballista boost a try just to have a chance of even being able to run away from him at least and to my surprise... It was easy. It's literally just flick, shoot and back to centre. No aiming at anything, it's just a feel thing. Then there's more tricks and I've gotten better at it since, now I'm at 1700hrs and ballista boosting all over the place in every map and winning all these matches in battlemode because I grinded the campaign. I do have a guide up on my channel but it is aimed at my pc experience even though there may be something useful for the console too. I've played the game since launch and was the same as you thinking I'll never be able to do what these CZcamsrs do but now I am one and people are telling me they'll never do what I can do lol feels odd coz I still forget that it's me people are talking about in the comments sometimes when they say CZcamsrs. Stick with it if you enjoy it and you'll get there even if that's not where you start. The only difference between someone who can't ride a bike and a pro cyclist is the willingness to get back up when you fall off and time spent cycling. Anyone can get there, it just takes a while is all

Yeah I've been there, I get lobby dodged all the time now just for my name even. It's the fault of the streak system. Scene as there is no built in matchmaking people have to create their own matchmaking by lobby dodging. It's terrible for us who just want to play getting dodged back to back but for a new player, ofcourse they don't want to get deleted out of every match before they've had a chance to learn the mechanics. Also anyone who is decent but not at the top level, they want the unlocks and skins that go along with the streaks, if they lose that streak they can't have the reward, so why risk it near the end of a streak against someone you know will wipe the floor with you. I'd prefer to see it changed to a different system where you earn ranks more similarly to the old halo styles of ranked matchmaking. Win one and move up a group, lose 2 in a row and go down. Or something like that, just not the streaks and also they need to stop you seeing your opponents until the match starts and you gain a loss for quitting out. I think those changes would help prevent lobby dodging and increase enjoyment by creating more balanced matches for everyone. You'll still get smurfs but I'm currently 17th in the world on the slayer leaderboard for this season and earlier today got matched up against level 1-10's twice who have just turned the online on for the first time. Can't be a good first time experience for those guys, even when I slow down and go as easy as I can, I'm still winning hands down. I did one round with just blood punches, there's a huge skill gap in this game and its damaging to the game to leave new players to have their first experience be against someone with over 1300hrs in the game. It's bad for the players and for the game, the player base won't grow if every new players match is against top players. No one would like that. This multiplayer concept was designed to die on arrival. If you can unbox the game, go straight to the multiplayer and have NO fucking idea how you could possibly win around, (like literally the thought is inconceivable), then you've designed the shittiest multiplayer mode possible. People play multiplayer modes to just chill and frag and party, not turn into a neurodiverse God at just that one single game with over a thousand hours of play experience. Doom 2016 multiplayer was exactly the correct multiplayer mode but the devs this time were so on their own dicks about the combat loop they invented that they made this shit and it gatekept like 99.5% of the community
I wouldn't care what level you are as long as you're willing to complete the match.
Good job man, sir is cracked I've played with/against him a lot, great job & I share your sentiment completely regarding the matchmaking system, I feel the game should match players based on the time played because honestly doom is one of those games where the more time you put into it the better you're going to get, and someone has a couple of hundreds of hours in the game or over a thousand will definitely have mastered a lot of the techniques this game has to offer, doesn't make any sense to match them against somebody who just started playing it last week, but the battlemode scene is small so I am guessing it would take a ton of time to find a match if the game actually had a proper matchmaking system, shame though, because it's matches like the one you had in this video is what made me love this gamemode in the first place, the intensity and adrenaline fueled combat from start to finish when the demons and slayer are of equal skill levels.

He is crazy good, If you liked that you might like the new video I just put up as well, the guy I'm playing against in that one is placed number 4th in the world for demons last I checked, playing with another top 100 partner he was queueing with. Exactly yes, It is a difficult problem for them to get around I guess while also giving us fast matches, the only thing I can think I guess would be to have it try to match you with equal skilled players for 20 seconds then extend the skill gap for the search every ten after that or something along those lines. You're absolutely correct that this is when battlemode is at its best, when it's a well matched game. Being forced to play against top players early definitely forced me to get much better faster however, as much as I improved fast I also had plenty of really unenjoyable matches before I fully understood the game mode and was just getting melted out of nowhere, made it seem impossible and felt I'd never get to where I am now at times. For sure it could have put me off the online completely if I hadn't of stuck with it and grinded my way through all the nightmare matches but if they had a better matchmaking then mabie the player base would be better. There are still a ton of people playing Doom but a lot of them are avoiding battlemode, probably just because of the really unbalanced first matches while your learning and not all players are coming into battlemode after completing ultra nightmare on the whole game, I had done what was available when I started and was still melted online. It is quite different. I just brought a friend into demons which wasn't bad for him because he had me helping and explaining but playing as slayer alone is intense! I wouldn't say Slayer is harder but it is very different. You have to be much faster and don't get a second chance after a mistake where as you can at least respawn and try again on the demon side if your partner stays alive. You just don't ever get a rest on the slayer side ha, full on straight through every match and your absolutely right there as well. When it's well balanced, that intensity and excitement both sides is exactly what makes Battlemode so great

This is sick gameplay. I just started playing doom I’m a long time quake player though. I still haven’t even tried battle mode because I wanted to get the mechanics down before I do. I’m about halfway through the campaign and have been having a blast. Can’t wait to jump into multiplayer and give it a go. Might just try it tomorrow

With the game being on game pass hopefully the online population continues to grow. Seems like this game has a very high skill ceiling which makes it very interesting. The no HUD is a nightmare to get used to, especially for campaign but the no crosshair I personally swear by. Found it awkward at first but now if I put the dot back on it feels like there's something in my way lol. Means I aim faster and more instinctively rather than looking at my dot all the time and trying to line it up and time the shot, now I'm just scanning for targets then shoot what I see. No crosshair IRL so technically more natural too lol

I picked up recently doom eternal on console trying to get better with the swaps and muscle memory, then I saw the first ten fucking seconds of this video, I am in awe, the gameplay is jaw dropping and isnanly difficult to follow
I know what you mean, it is hard to follow. I've played for over 1700hrs now. That's the only reason I'm up at this level. When I started I was new to pc and couldn't aim, dash and shoot at the same time never mind the rest. It just comes with time like everything else
I remember back when I first played battle mode. My rule was I couldn't try it till I'd beaten UN. Went 50/50 wins since nobody knew how to play demons yet and there was no matchmaking. After TAG1, I gave it a try again and got bodied 3/4 games. Guys learned how to play demons I guess.
Still think it's fun but a lack of players hurts.
Yeah I just cant get games anymore where I live, then because of the streak system I just get dodged after an hours wait sometimes too. Its been a long while since I was on last due to the player count myself. I expect after a new doom announcement it'll pick up again maybe

I'm never touching this gamemode in my entire life, if the campaign with bots is already for sweats, the multiplayer is going to be the worst experience ever.
I know what you mean and you're not wrong. The game can be played by anyone when you can select the difficulty but not everyone could just pick up and beat nightmare and especially not ultra-nightmare. Really got to sweat for those that's for sure. Biggest issue with the multiplayer though is that there is no matchmaking really so you could end up against someone else playing for the first time or a pro. I did learn everything I did in the campaign though. I have a guide up on how I practiced if you'd like to check that out I'll link it here for you. Made the game way more fun for me offline too just learning some extra tech. @@JoeBraveheart Beating nightmare is no a big feat because you can always repeat the same level over and over again...
@@AiRPasternak yeah but you're not going to first time it is my point. You'll have to repeat certain fights and grind a little. Get a bit sweaty, pay attention, learn. Then ultra-nightmare gets easier coz you know how to beat all of the arenas. Just got to avoid the mistakes, a couple of runs will be lost to bad luck or losing your rhythm in ultra-nightmare but as long as you stay switched on you'll get it eventually, I've got my ancient god's part 1 coming soon, thought I'd do that for a change after being asked. Playing against real players on the other hand is crazy hard all the time at the same skill levels. Random every time, can't be memorised or cheesed at any point and you're against two. It's loads of fun but no matchmaking means you could end up playing against me in your first match and that's unfair really, plus you'd learn nothing from it that early on. I hope their next games multiplayer does away with the streak system and puts in a skill based ranked multiplayer instead. All ranked though, no need for an unranked version. Just splits up the player base needlessly. Better to just be in ranked I say. Playing your own skill level is more fun I think. When the matches are close, good fights. That's what I was saying. At this stage I can see why a new to battlemode player like yourself would say you wouldn't want to start. It's unreasonably brutal for newcomers getting thrown in with the best right off the bat. I'd ultra-nightmared the entire game and all master levels but I was still getting destroyed when I started. It still happens against the pro's now and then too so someone new into a lower player base game like battlemode is likely to get back to back pro matches that they can't get into or learn from, just get melted. That won't be enjoyable. Matchmaking all the way I say

Thanks, yeah absolutely he changed the balance. At first I didn't like the addition at all, thought he was very noob friendly and could 1v1 the slayer too easy along with an insane set of evasive skills, I still don't like fighting dreadknight archvile combos. It's boring for the slayer. However, his berserk specifically forced me to go and learn how to ballista boost and I'm so glad that happened. The game is way more fun now in all modes and I can see why the dread is the way he is. I can melt him in under 2 seconds while he's not got his berserk on, I have clips of that in other videos I've done if you wanna check that out but now that I can boost away, he can't get me back if I position myself well and watch my timings. A game against a dread knight feels like I have to change my play style, rush him down, get him off the field, fast. Then finish his partner, if he gets away from you at the beginning go and hang around a teleporter. Berserk triggers, through the teleport, chainsaw a fodder. Ballista boost the final part then turn round and drop everything you have, until they are done, personally I prefer not to finish the dread knight immediately and leave him 1 shot able (about a quarter health or less) then go deal with the partner. If he brings up a healing zone I'll chase him out then when he berserks I just kill him, re-gain what he drops and finish his friend who's probably trying to push me along side the berserk. I do think the dread knight was put in with top players in mind. I don't think he's suited well at all to new slayers joining battlemode for the first time. If you can't ballista boost, don't know the maps and are not quite 100% with your aim then even a brand new dread knight could wipe the floor with you every time before you could find him and figure out the game. I'd prefer to see him be slightly less squish and a bit less damaging to compensate. Either that or just reduce how long berserk lasts, but mabie make it available slightly more often. The only other change I'd have is give him less mobility but like I said I can melt him in seconds if I get a hold of him without berserk so that would likely mean he'd become completely useless in pro play. It's hard I don't know, I still get frustrated by him myself at times but I do think he has his place. Great comment, thanks again

@@sheffield2415 yeah that's a key difference for sure, I have seen players that do it but I don't know how you controller hero's pull that off, really impressive. I guess the addition of the dread knight will be a completely different balance experience for console players than on pc. Good point. Another thing I've learned that might help is that I've practiced exactly how much damage and what combos I use to put the AI into glory kill, meaning if I need the health or more importantly against dread knight the invincibility frames, I can just do teleport, glory kill then chainsaw to wait out the berserk. Saves needing to rely on the ballista boost as much and hopefully after that you've got an over extended, vulnerable dread knight next to you waiting to be blown away. I like to drop a grenade and flame belch when going for a chainsaw or glory kill and Meathook in for the extra armour but that can backfire badly if they drop a loot block on you, the grenade though would take a good chunk of health off of the dread knight if he's stood there waiting for you animation to end

That's what I used to think when watching players doing speedruns and early battlemode gameplays but now those older videos look real slow in comparison to where I'm at now. The game has come a long way and everyone has consistently improved in it if they've been playing since launch so if you've just got the game more recently then there's a huge skill curve to suffer through with no skill based matchmaking to protect people from what would otherwise be described as smurfing so that's why I made my guide to try and help get people over that first hurdle, I go over things like the Meathook tricks and ballasts boosting (even though a ballista boost seems quite advanced for Battlemode it has become an essential basics requirement, especially since the introduction of the dread knight) I show how I practice this play and the settings I use whist also trying to keep a little entertainment value as well. Thanks! and actually yes I think it's a factor. Obviously I've had a lot of practice with my aim now but without the crosshair I'm now aiming by feel rather than sight, also I don't have to look at my crosshair, then the enemy, then match them up, just see the enemy, then shoot them. I only took the crosshair off to learn where the centre of my screen is for squad but now it puts me off if I have it on, feel like I need to move it out the way to see what I want to shoot then back. Definitely give it a try, I highly recommend it. Takes a bit of getting used to at first but it's easier than it seems and I do think it makes you better in the long run

I miss being able to stay in the same lobby and shuffle or rematch but I get why they took that out for the leaderboards. I'd prefer of there was no lobby dodging but they'd need to get a matchmaking system in place with ranks in order to pull that off really

The damage numbers I'm not sure I remember being different, it may just be because of fov being higher but that's a console command g_fov 145 I play at. A lot of the pros who come from quake play at 140 fov. Check out the guide video though, all of my settings are in there

Thanks, not as far as I can tell, I do feel a big difference in battlemode Vs campaign but I put most of that down to not having air mobility in battlemode, however mabie it also puts me back to 120 fov rather than 145 which will explain why I always feel the need to adjust my sensitivity every time I go into battlemode again. I hadn't heard that but will check it out for sure now that you mentioned it

Hey, no unfortunately it's just battlemode and single player but it is very good even just with those. I've got plenty of videos and a guide up on my channel in their own playlists that should show a good feel of what to expect from the game. Only thing I'd say is the player base can be a little low now at times so your first online games may be against die hards, definitely worth spending time perfecting the gameplay loop in campaign and the dlcs before diving straight into the multiplayer. There is a slayer Vs slayer mod I've heard for Battlemode but I believe it requires a bit of work to get it set up and you'd have to be in a private game. To meet people to play with I'd recommend the spicy demons discord, a very friendly and welcoming community of people who just love the game

I think at this stage most of their focus is going into the next project which may be a new doom game although as far as I am aware that has not been announced yet, just that they are working on it so no apart from modders on pc there isn't any other new content due really, they are currently re-running all of the Battlemode streak rewards, I usually jump on to grind for the new unlocks but I'm at the stage now where I have them all so maybe will work on the horde mode runs instead, I never really liked it before as you have to unlock all your arsenal again but the most fun for me is a fully unlocked slayer so I prefer the dlc content and master levels. There is tons of content and the multiplayer is still alive but only just. Depending on what time of day I'm on it can be a whole eating on a match... To be fair though, I get lobby dodged all the time too so that makes it take longer. You can jump into private matches with friends though and just play non-stop if multiplayer is more your scene

I've got a new video of another top 100s Match against a couple of really good demons coming up later today or early tomorrow depending on CZcams and I will be getting round to creating a guide but never done one before so bare with me, I want to make it worth while for the viewer and entertaining, also I've had to get my streaks for the super shotgun skin this season. This game just keeps getting better the more you play it and learn new tricks so wanna go through all of that enough so others can get into it as well. When I first got all of my golden skins I was still rubbish online lol, had to practice a lot without air mobility in campaign, that would be one quick tip I have if you haven't tried that yet. I just played my 1st two matches as slayer and I got mopped up a lil to fast for fun lol . I looked up some gameplay videos to see if there's anything I could do bttr and now I'm thinking maybe there's just to much bttr to be done this game seems like there's so many different things i could do but like I cant even figure out the grapple hook thing or what it's called💀 my movement is trash and hitting shots consistently feels impossible and learning how to use the map to your advantage ontop of all tht seems impossible, especially when everything about this game is so fast pace infact maybe one of the fastest games I've ever saw before😂 I think multiplayer ain't for me unless I was on pc but then again I bet ppl on pc would be even bttr than the ppl tht destroyed me on xbox in seconds
I understand exactly where you're coming from, the game is crazy deep and a major problem with this games multiplayer I've always said is there is no skill based matchmaking so you could just be blasted by pros when you're new in a game with a huge skill ceiling, the gap can be insane. Most games I could turn on and get a lucky kill against a pro here and there in my first match but with battlemode a new player or even a couple of players who team well together with a couple of hundred hours won't get me down once now that I'm at around 1800hrs nearly, the game needs a ranked system not the streaks and I hope their next game has one. When I started I'd never used a pc to play games on. Brand new to keyboard, could barely move and shoot at the same time never mind the rest but one bit at a time and now I can hold my own with some of the best, ofcourse the pros are always going to be insane. You're right about pc, I think certain elements are much easier once you've got the hang of it but I do have a guide up showing the practice and settings I've been using for the longest time to get to where I'm at now. Lol I know the feeling. That's standard for sure, jump into the spicy demon discord chat and find a demon partner in there. There's a good chance you'll find someone else who's decent and knows the game well. Makes for much better matches when everyone's on the same level. That's why I think there should be a rank based matchmaking, not a streak system

On console we play at about half the speed if that in multiplayer. This is beyond the ultra nightmare difficulty on console. We just can't aim and move at the same time as well as you. I'm currently ranked in the top 20 on playstation
Yeah I've seen some really good console players do some insane things that I don't know how they do with a controller but you are right I think, there are just some things that can't be done without the mouse speed and amount of buttons on a keyboard like ballista boosting and weapons swapping is not as easy or fast on a controller. I actually just got the pc for doom eternal coming out and couldn't do anything at all lol but then one trick at a time I started getting used to the keyboard and picked up some muscle memory, I've gradually been able to beat everything ultra-nightmare and even learn to ballista boost which I decided a long time ago I wasn't even going to consider learning but after they launched the dread knight I had no choice really and that changed the game for me, well worth it and actually much easier than you'd think once you just start doing it. We can also play on higher fovs and things like that which I show in my guide how to get above 120 along with my other settings and to be honest although it's awkward to learn that keyboard at first I highly recommend to anyone on console like I was for around 27 years to move to pc eventually, what I would say though is save and get a good one. I got a cheap starter pc at first out of a shop and it was just a nightmare for the longest time. It was fine but a rip off for what it was compared to pre-built online or getting the parts and assembling yourself. Now I have a good pc that was cheaper than the first one I got but loads games in seconds and runs high frame rates for landing frame reliant tricks like bunny hops and meat hook swings I'm sure are tied to frame rate as well then for offline games I just run high graphics instead, a great all round improvement. Definitely want a good monitor as well. I had a friend help me put all of mine together and it's the best thing I've done in gaming for sure, I was getting bored of it otherwise. You just have so much more control and options for stuff to play as well. I heard consoles were getting mouse and keyboard support though on some games so that starts to open up all that control too but it's not there for every game, there's still mods and indie games. Plus steam games have been cheaper too especially with the sales so I think in the long run pc might save money too. Top 20 is real good. Hard to do. You'd become a beast on the pc too if you can do that with a controller I bet. Takes ages lol, I did anyway but it's the same as anything. Gotta get used to it

I'm not sure, it is different. I was on console until doom eternal came out and had to learn the keyboard from scratch. Wasn't easy but doom was the game to get me moving on it that's for sure. I've seen some really top players on controller though. SMVR is real good, a devil may cry player who made some real entertaining content for that and doom on controller. I think I've got his name right, I'll come back and edit this if I'm wrong but he's all about the tricks, style and plays on controller so yeah some things aren't completely possible but people have gotten really close in a lot of ways. Impressive the things people can do on the controller, I'm a better mouse and keyboard player now than I ever was on xbox and I was decent after 15 years of console games but I really got into the pc. I was in the army during most of my console time so didn't have the time to grind it as much I guess, just pick up and play here and there but then I got a pc and lockdown happened plus had left the army by then so nothing to do but stay inside and game until I was pro, then by the time I was there I started uploading and right after that the game died lol. Standard. Now I'm busy again but still trying to get videos up when I can. I'm looking forward to what might be next for Doom

I made this guide for how i started to play like this but anyone can do it. I was at around 1500 hours before I even attempted a balista boost but after the dread knight was introduced I felt I had to and it was easier than I'd thought. Anyone can do it I think, just takes a bit of time and repetition. I was new to PC when I started playing eternal so the balista boost was easier to pick up for me I think than the weapon swaps. I did jump over to halo to work up to onyx in ranked which I got and gave like 3 really old videos I could upload but then they added aim assist to mouse and keyboard and it was messing me up in other games so I stopped playing and didn't feel I should upload a game I wasn't going to play anymore so I ended up with pubg and that's taken ages to learn but I have my journey all videod so I think I might do something with that. It's a very different kind of game though so not sure how people would enjoy that

Nice, I've seen some really good console players. Don't know how they do it. When I started out I was the same, I was new to keyboard and mouse at the time and could barely strafe and shoot at the same time never mind the weapon swapping and ballista boost. Eventually though it all just came together. Keep at it and you'll be smashin the game in no time

I don't know how I would with controller either to be fair. I will be bringing out a guide at some point. Definitely there will be differences caused by the amount of time I've spent burning my aim into muscle memory but I'm sure there will be relevant and helpful info in there. I struggled a lot when I first started. Tis not the average shooter that's for sure. But well worth the pay off once you get there, stick with it. It will happen, I believe and please let me know when it does, I wanna hear it

Thanks, it's just practice. I used Doom to learn the keyboard when I first came to pc. I could barely move and shoot at the same time when I started, never mind the rest. Now with the addition of the dread knight in battlemode 2.0 I'm ballista boosting too. I didn't think I'd ever even attempt that. Just keep at it, one new skill at a time. It is top class, really good for pc. Loads of binds and keys to learn fast though, I lucked out when I got my pc, picked up a razor hex V2 mouse with buttons 1-7 round the thumb. Took a little getting used to but makes weapon swapping much better. That's the only mouse I've had but it's perfect for what I need it for, obviously having all those buttons doesn't bother my aim too much either, I don't think that was ever a problem. Not sponsored by razor either btw, I wish I had a sponsorship lol. Just a real good mouse. I'm new to pc as well, only had it around 2 years now and the keyboard is a lot to learn. The numbers on the mouse help

I play single player still but havent been on battlemode for a long while. I couldnt get games anymore, tried out halo infinite and got to onyx once, was gonna do a series on that then they added aim assist to keyboard and mouse and its the worst lol. Ruins my aim in other games aswell I think for muscle memory and now recently ive been trying to learn pubg. getting better but that game is a nightmare haha, I do miss battlemode though

Ha thanks, it wasn't that long ago I sucked at this Battlemode. It does take time but the game forces you to become a Gaming God, very rewarding when it all comes together. I still lose all the time against really good demons. I can hold my own now though and they are great matches, sometimes I win and sometimes the same players smash me but when I get the win back in a rematch it feels great. It is a shame though that there isn't a matchmaking system for more balanced matches, I wouldn't have learned that fast or possibly would have peaked at a much lower skill level due to not being forced to play better demons but at the same time it is a terrible feeling to just come in and be deleted without getting a chance to learn from it. Ha that's what makes it so competitive, there's tons on the leaderboard but I know what you mean. Depending on the time of day it sometimes feels it can take forever to get a match. But mostly I'm in straight away, it's just if I'm getting lobby dodged it takes a while. It's obviously got a big following, these are my most successful videos yet... Looks like a bigger following for dooms battlemode than the entirety of squad and even ready or not which is getting a lot of attention at the moment. Either that or it's just because their shorter videos. Let me know what you think
@@JoeBraveheart Meh, I don't like battlemode at all. I sometimes play it to complete the weekly events, if not for those I would never touch it. Battlemode feels completely unbalanced and just a mess. Single player content is way superior and any time I boot up DE I see no reason to play Battlemode over Master Levels or Horde Mode.
@@SeekerMissile yeah each to their own I guess, if you don't like it you don't like it. Just not for you. I love the single player, it's where I've spent most of my time, I've felt like there are balance problems in the past but I can melt slayers and still get melted all the time too as slayer and as demons. Just takes a lot to learn it, both sides, now that I have I love it and still learning somehow as well. For me my least favourite content is the horde mode. I like it at the end but not having all my weapons available is an interesting challenge one time, then I'm just bored of not having all my tricks. Obviously for me I've spent loads of time mastering the slayers mechanics, having to play without them just feels like playing a lesser or more basic game. What makes a game fun for me is having a lot of mechanics to master then using that mastery to Rip and Tear like a mad man, also I enjoy competitive games so battlemode gives me that for doom too. I do have to say my favourite content is the DLC's and Master Levels, My favourite music comes from the base game and for the competition and co-op Battlemode is a great change of pace. Horde mode is fine. I just don't find it replayable for me, now that I can meathook, ballista boost and weapon swap fast I don't like when that's all taken away, also I feel I'm then worse at it all by the time I get it all back, rusty. I also dislike that battlemode takes away your air mobility and certain weapon mods (I just started getting into mod swapping in campaign and it's an irrelevant skill for online now) but I understand that's been done for balance reasons
@@JoeBraveheart My biggest problem with battlemode is that the skill gap is really low. Mastering all the aspects doesn't take that much time and at that point it's very luck based, just the feeling I get. Also some of the demons are just straight up useless, like Archvile, Mancubus and Pain Elemental, also I think Dread Knight makes a Marauder irrelevant since it has the same role but does it better. Doom Eternal has a very unique and never before seen single player gameplay, the battlemode just doesn't hold a candle to it and there are way better alternatives for competitive arena shooters, but as you said, to each their own.
@@SeekerMissile I understand exactly where your coming from, I thought the mancubus was terrible until very recently I got better with him and co-ordinating with my other demon partner and now we melt slayers regularly, prior to that I mained the Archvile and that's who I used to get my Top 100 in Demons usually with the most damage dealt as well and great survivability with randoms but I suck with the Pain Elemental and Marauder although I've played other demon players who destroy me with those demons. It's an A-symmetrical game where demons are more about strategy to beat the Slayer so balance is difficult but they've done a great job. I do think the Dread knight still needs work but he's more balanced than he seems at first, I can one cycle one very quickly without his berserk on and with ballista boosting chasing him is more than possible, also when his berserk is on, again the ballista is great to get you away from him. I'll be bringing out a guide for Battlemode and I highly recommend checking it out if your even slightly interested in getting past the point where your games feel more like luck than skill. Until then I've just put a new video up you might like to check out that has footage of some demon games at the end, my mancubus specifically is outrageous now which is great because I didn't like him before at all. The depth to the games mechanics are far deeper than they first seem. For example we now use respawning on the demon side as a deliberate mechanic to keep the slayer on the back foot and away from the dread knight until his berserk is up. Have to be a real good Slayer to dance around that. I can sometimes, other times I lose and apart from when I make a dumb mistake I never feel like I just got unlucky anymore. I tend to know what I did wrong or what they did wrong when I win along with what they could have done better to throw me off

I know how you feel but no, the pro demon players wreck me all the time. To do well with the demons against a good slayer though you do need to have a partner with comms, good timings, understanding and plays worked out in advance really. I think my personal hardest pairing is a pain, dread combo. Pain pressures with shield then escapes and the dread berserk comes in but I've had hard times against even rev, manc aswell and the marauder can be a complete melt machine in the right hands but I'm not as good with him myself
