"I sing in character" Meryl Streep is the best actress as she is never the same in any role.... she doesn't play herself.... she plays the character.
Hi how are you doing??
Hi how are you doing??
"She plays the character."
With Glenn Close, she IS the character. 😇
She's the greatest actress of all time! And the movie is fantastic. I strongly recommend watching it. Also Hugh Grant is great!
All of them are amazing.
I will never get over how humble Meryl comes over when she is interviewed. She never seems to gloat in her achievements and yet she has to know how magnificent she is. I cannot get enough of her. I cannot say that she was particularly brilliant in this role - she is particularly brilliant in EVERY role!!! And so beautiful she shines!
Hi julie how are you doing??
@@johnnycharles1469 Wow, how desperate can you be
Lest we forget Simon Helberg’s wonderful performance as her pianist. 😁
The TBBT factor!!!
spent half the movie laughing at Meryl and the other half laughing at Simons reactions to her.
Genius
Meryl rules. She is simply the greatest actor of our time.
Meryl Streep is so classy, and such a pleasant person every time I listen to one of her interviews :)
It is a beautiful film, thought it would be a comedy. But you end up loving this lady, Meryl did a great job.
Very sad movie and story actually
"It's almost like kids. We lose that ability to immerse ourselves in a reality that we totally believe. And with great abandon, you hurl yourself into imaginative play. Kids do this all the time, and then we grow up and get careful, and think, "how do I look doing this," and I think that abandon, her joy, was also part of the infectious allure." I miss being a kid. I miss what Florence Foster Jenkins held onto.
Totally concurred.
Florence brings me such Joy. She teaches us all the vital lesson to just do what you love in life despite your limitations and what others say. Just do it.
Hi how are you doing??
One of my favourite movies. It shows that faithfulness and honesty are not as important as we think today. It shows how important kindness and empathy is.
i like this interviewer
I've heard him for years on WQXR in NY but never seen him. He is very good indeed.
She's definitely 1 of the greatest actress's
Excellent interview. GO SEE THE MOVIE!
SHAME ON YOU!!! Actors, musicians, costume designers (like me) gaffers, grips, location managers, crafty, background extras, production, set direction...even people who make the COOKIES like in the Hallmark film I worked on yesterday. You have NO IDEA how much PIRACY HURTS us all. It os ALSO ILLEGAL. I hope you are prosecuted for viewing and encouraging others to see illegally pirated films.
Fantastic movie. Fantastic performance. Fantastic cast. Bravi Tutti!!
I don't really like Meryl Streep but no one can deny that she is one of the greatest actresses the world has seen and is the true definition of versatility.
I am sorry but what your definition of "liking" an actress is if you don't know her personally? Your statement sort of makes no sense I'm afraid.
@@apples_and_oranges You know, the kind of "I-look-up-to-her-cause-she-is-such-an-inspiration". I don't think it's really logical to look up to celebrities (especially those in Hollywood) in general.
I cried when i saw the movie
The movie is great : Meryl and Simon ..... their interaction is hysterical; Helberg will win / be nominated for awards. Hugh Grant's role and performance is good, too : you can sense different rationales and motivations in that guy. Wikipedia info on Florence is a HOOT : what a character!
This as an example of a great interview!
Meryl is a genius. I so wish she makes a real Callas film about her early triumphs...
Callas? Streep? Callas??? Are you delusional????

I was so lucky to grow up with great music! My mom and dad collected wonderful music from all genres...and Florence Foster Jenkins! We have sung these songs for almost sixty years at the drop of a hat. What pleasure, what laughter we have all had!
The intro scared me😂
Béllen Bells me too! 😂😂
This have so touching my heart....Florence is singing with so un passione. I feel my i'm un child and all the critic had my make shy. CORAGGIOSO and the lovely smile from Hugh Grant. Is so great and lovely❣👋💋🌹🌹🌹🌹
What a brilliant performance! Ms Streep is so so talented! I went to an outdoor opera performance recently where the tenor failed to hit top C in Nessun Dorma! We all felt so sorry for him it was excruciating! Yet people paid to hear Florence Foster Jenkins over and over. Amazing!
Hi how are you doing??
Back in the early 1960s, on a vacation in Paris, I went to the Opera--Beethoven's "Fidelio," sung in French (not a great idea). In the great confrontation scene in the dungeon, where Leonora dares the villain to kill her, Florestan's wife, before harming him, the soprano sang the climactic syllable "femme" (Weib) way off key. The great moment was shattered as many French people exclaimed loudly in disgust--"Mon Dieu! Quel horreur!" etc. What one can laugh at in a concert of showpiece arias devoid of context isn't so funny when a dearly loved masterwork is jarringly derailed by failure of execution. If you go to a concert expecting a hoot, it's just entertainment. I think that's why the audiences could assemble year after year to hear Jenkins's renditions.
A wonderful performance fron Ms Streep. In the movie she sounds like Patricia Routledge ( Mrs Bucket- Bouquet).
My favorite movie so far! I first saw it last year and watched it 11 times! My husband had to purchase the movie, eventually, when on my 11th time of watching it I found out that it’s no longer free viewing. Have I not become so busy this year, I probably have watched it 11 times more! ♥️
she is very nice and amazing.
i like her a lot.
I love Meryl!!!
I loved her in “Out Of Africa”. That being said, let’s not forget that most people of FFJ’s time were not coming to see her because they loved music or appreciated her efforts. They were coming to make fun of her and ridicule her behind her back. This poor woman never heard the truth about her singing until right before she died. Her reviews after her final concert at Carnegie crushed her spirit, she truly thought she was wonderful thanks to the sycophants that surrounded her. It’s terribly sad and if any of those upper class miscreants were still alive, I would shame them beyond belief. By all accounts, she was sweet and generous to a fault and was certainly taken advantage of. No one wanted to risk losing their handouts so they just all stood back and let the emperor run around naked.
I believe FFJ is graceful in her heart. She is true in being herself and care less what her limitations in profiling her life as a drama singer. Courageous and kind, she inspired people around her, although they mock her ungratefully. As she said in her final words, 'You can say I can't sing, but you cannot say I didn't sing.'
She was absolutely riveting in this as she is in all her films. Love her ever since I saw her in the French Lieutenants Woman
And Sophie's Choice....
@@camerrill yes brilliant movie. I don’t think I’ve seen a Meryl Streep movie I haven’t liked. Kramer vs Kramer, Out of Africa, The Iron Lady, Evil Angels, Julie & Julia, even the Mamma Mia movies there are too many to mention but these are just a few of my favourites. She was the master at accents and adept at becoming so convincingly the character she played. There are actors and then there’s Meryl Streep, to say she’s the greatest actress of all time would not be fair to those who have gone before, Katherine Hepburn, Bette Davis, Lauren Bacall to name a few, but in this era she is the greatest actress. She’s a living legend and I hope we get to see many more of her movies.
She has Mastered the ART of BEING!!! No small feat... ❤
Going to watch this extraordinary story..👍
Meryl is always awesome in what she does, the roles she plays!
I watch the movie because I wanted to see Rebecca’s performance. However, falls deeply in love with the movie because of Meryl’s character. There’s humanity and grace and a little bit of sorrow in the story line. I can’t believe I cried.. 3 times. Amazing performances to all actors!
60 clubs is interesting. I seriously thought however that MS was just lip syncing. No clue that such notes could ever be intentionally repeated for such a long duration of a movie. Bravo MS, she really deserves every penny she makes.
Hi how are you doing??
Today watched the film. Superb 😍😍😍
She was brilliant. She also knew...
Que actriz por Dios !!!! Un genio incomparable, todo lo que hace lo hace con excelencia. Es una diosa dotada para la actuación !!!
I love her in every movie, Meryl is the top.. she is the best actress ever
I love her acting
Meryl Streep :) Im a Big fan of yours here in PH :=
This movie had me Kmsl 🌈✨🌟😁💛💛💛❤❤❤
Interessante a atitude humilde da Meryl. É típico da genialidade. Ela é a melhor.👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
💖💖💖💖💖
Wonderful. Liked, shared and subscribed! :)
Is there a role Meryl cannot play?
a black woman, comes to mind
@@Nunofurdambiznez that can be done with make up nowadays however it will stir a racial issue of not hiring an actual black woman actress to do the job. Like the issue in Miss Saigon they hired a white man to play an asian role and used prosthetic eyes to make it look like an Asian.
Masterpiece of someone acting a serious reality based part and being hilarious at the same time.
Dear Meryl you sing best that original Florence 😊💐🎉
Meryl is simply beautiful! In all aspect :-)
Hught Grant stole this movie. he was fantastic !!!
Here a woman whose acting ability is without question inversly proportional to her political views.
One and only Meryl Streep
The interviewer is asking really good questions. Good job man!
Meryl, of course, is as professional as she always is. But seriously, prps to you, interview man. I feel smarter now. Not like with most celebrity interviews, when I feel dumber afterwards.
I just heard some lost footage of Florence Foster Jenkins... Her singing is much worse than Meryl Streep's duplicatiion, in all honesty
MERYL FOR PRESIDENT!!!
Meryl is so right about Florence singing. Florence was very close to becoming an ok singer. Meryl pulled it off beautifully because that's what I saw in the movie during her signing....almost there but not quite there.
Nice interviewer
We need a sing-off between Florence Foster Jenkins and Hyacinth Bucket.
MERYL STREEP IS THE GREATEST ACTRESS OF OUR TIME--BAR NONE!!!
What's really impressive is that her singing as Florence Foster Jenkins is actually BETTER than the real thing!!!
Meryl Streep has NEVER gotten her due as a vocalist--just another example of how women don't always get their due if they're multi talented. Yes, I know there are men who don't get their due, either, but women have always, and still do, have a harder time of it overall than men do.
You wouldn't think we'd still be saying this in the 21st Century....
We saw the movie and heard recording of Florence Foster Jenkins afterward. I have to say, Meryl Streep trying to sing badly sounded better than Jenkins.
No disrespect to Meryl but it was hard to sit through the character's singing. I kept thinking 'get your foot off the cat's tail'. :D
I only wish I knew who coned Florence into thinking she actually could sing? The sadness is overwhelming.
I don't know about Florence's life but bad singing can be treated by hardcore training. It is a skill that should be honed through the years.
I don't think really off-key singing by someone who's tone-deaf can be treated--not easily or inexpensively, anyway, particularly if it sounds okay to the singer!
She’s the second greatest actress ever after Bette Davis. Meryl Streep would agree with me
No, Meryl, she was never "close to being okay." She was horrible and that's why people went. She was a novelty and a "hot ticket" because she was so bizarre. Like Tiny Tim in the 60's.
MS was terrible at the role. She is so smart. The look in her eyes is so smart. On the other hand, Florence was a gullible woman. Find her photos, you'll see what I mean. Ms. Streep, you can't play Madame Florence with your sparkly eyes and intelligent existence.
There’s something sadistic about how people treated her...
She sings better than poor Florence.
Meryl Streep sings much better than Florence Foster Jenkins !! ... Although the actress does her best to get her song out of tune, it is still much better than that of the loud and off-key Mrs. Florence.
Meryl Streep canta mucho mejor que Florence Foster Jenkins !! ... Aunque la actriz hace todo lo posible para desafinar su canción, sigue siendo mucho mejor que la de la ruidosa y desafinada Sra. Florence.
She so god, to be so bad.
In my opinion, the movie is good, but not amazing.
Meryl sang too well for Florence. Florence was much, much worse.
As a singer, I think it's ridiculous to cast an actress who can sing to pretend to fluff her notes and it's just a false racket and most definitely NOT the same as people who cannot hit the right note or sing in the wrong key...
This is a testament to her acting skills. As someone who cannot sing, she sounds like me. And I try. I am Madame Florence. Just without the money.
Many folks stopped watching Meryl Streep movies when she set herself up as the political voice of left wing Hollywood politics. She's essentially a good mimic, adept at copying voices and mannerisms but otherwise a surface actress with little genuine depth.
What a boring film, simply painful.
If your talking about the singing, it had to be like that. Otherwise it wouldn't really....make sense.
Fabulous film
ugh, Streep is unbearable. She is so pompous, it is nauseating.
If you heard her story and her fight... I think you'd have a bit more heart for her.
Commercial Communication why are you watching? So many options to choose from...
She's the greatest actress of all time! And the movie is fantastic. I strongly recommend watching it. Also Hugh Grant is great!
