Is BORACAY worth visiting in 2023? 🇵🇭

- In this video we are going to muddy the crystal clear waters of Boracay's reputation just a little bit. Over the years this Filipino island has become the poster-boy/beach?, for island paradise in the Philippines. Although it is beautiful, we wanted to show you some of the things that not many people talk about to hopefully paint you a more realistic picture of the true Boracay. Enjoy!

The algae formation has been around and document way before the island was just inhabited by a small fishing community back in the 70's. They naturally occur when the waters begin to warm-up in the months beginning from March till June.
Come to think of it, all waters in the Philippine quite warm up in certain months, but only Boracay has that algae. Then we think of Boracay as the only one with that fine white sand beach. It gives credence to what the locals are saying that it is the algae itself that turns to white sand. PS. first time I was in Boracay was in April 2007, and algae then was still pencil thin.
the algae is not because of a sewage system, its a seasonal natural phenomenon, if it was from the sweage then it would've appeared all year round
Right now we have a seasonal outbreak of algae that is considered toxic in Southern California beaches that killed hundreds of sea lions and dolphins and California has one of the most strict and comprehensive sewage regulations on earth. From what I know, Boracay’s algae is also seasonal.
Been in Boracay many times-We love Boracay
that's amazing! like we said in the video, if we were at a more private area....we would love it.
Sharing your own options wether people agree with you or not is always a very vulnerable thing to do guys. Being honest in a world full of fake content to people please can be hard but as long as your being truthful to yourself and your experiences that’s the main thing. It looks like Phillipines has so much to offer and all of your videos have definitely convinced us to visit one day 😍
thanks so much guys! 😍🇵🇭
The algea is not because of sewage because if it is it would be present all year round but it's not. It's seasonal. Also, here's a statement from the General Manager of DENR-led Boracay Inter-Agency Rehabilitation Management Group (BIARMG) Martin Jose Despi " The presence of the algae is simply a natural phenomenon that occurs yearly during the dry season or summer period in different areas of Boracay,” said Despi.
“Tourists are assured that Boracay waters are clean and safe for swimming,” added Despi.
Data from DENR’s Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) found that Boracay beach is still within the safe standard for swimming, which is 1,000 most probable number (mpn) per 100 millimeter (ml).
Based on the laboratory tests, coliform level in the front beach is 8mpn/100ml for January 2022 and 11mpn/100ml for February 2022."
I dont know about this 2, they say they were divers. But they dont know why the algae occurs?? 😂 or they know it but just want to click bait. 😂😂
The only other algae invested beach is Florida and on some case California.
And they also have so many hotels in front of the beach.
The amount of algae in boracay from almost all year is not seasonal.
@@j_operator9114 "The only algae infested beach is Florida and and on some case Califronia" says who? Provide proof for this claim. Not seasonal? It is seasonal because it's not present all year round. Did you read the last part of my original comment about the coliform lvl?

I have proof and my concern is the algae is not normal.
And like I said, it is only gone after a typhoon for a few days
Miami Beach usually has algae as well, it's just normal
Hi David and Sarah, thanks for being real on this channel. I appreciate that you give your honest opinion on things and don't sugar coat things. Glad that you showed both sides of Boracay the good and the bad. In some parts of the Philippines, in the little villages, the people live in poverty but still seem to have a smile on their face and very happy. Have enjoyed seeing all of your videos on the Philippines and looking forward to more videos.
thanks so much for watching Ben! The Filipino people are amazing 😊
FYI. THE ALGAE Is not bcoz of the sewage! Its a natural phenomenon. Its a natural occurrence thing for the dry swason. U guys just search the wrong info and concluded right away. This vdeo was not well researched.
The Philippines haters are going to love this video, good job
thank you for watching! we tried to keep it balanced 😊
Great video guys!
thank you so much for watching 😍
My parents used to visit Boracay a lot when it wasn't popular in the 80s. The algae has always been there during certain months (which is still the case even now) even before the massive commercialization. So this is really fake news man. What a way to show gratitude to the country yall are visiting
Yep
I guess they just wanna debunked BORACAY as d number one Beach in d world?
hope Siargao Island wouldn't end up just like Boracay.. Foreigners and Locals there were trying.their best to saved and preserved the island .
Hopefully not! Siargao has a special place in our heart
The next bali ?
Boracay is amazing place. I appreciate the detailed breakdown of all the best places to visit and things to do in Boracay and very proud of your accomplishments to partake in different cultures around the world.
It's kinda annoying for those merchants just advertising their companies services offers. Just keep in mind that those people making money for their Family, not if you're really an openminded person you have the commonsense to understand why people doing that.
If you think the hawkers are annoying there wait till you go to Bali, outside of the tourist areas, you will see the local side of island life, best to not expect Fantasy Island
So much options of beaches in the Phils. depends on your budget . If you are couple and wanted to have a vibes of private beach we have Amanpulo.
Well, at least this video is realistic and it shows both pros and cons of Boracay. Foreigners have to travel thousands of miles away and spend lots of money on airfare hoping to be impressed and then of course, reality hits. So it’s best to have more of a balance expectation. The Caribbean and the Bahamas, for instance, is only a few hours flight from the US and it offers tropical white sand beaches and clear water so Boracay is not the only options, unless you really want to go there.
I’m Filipino living in the US and I’m lucky enough to afford to travel to many different countries, cities and beaches. The best experience to date so far, is the Maldives in one of the Hilton resort. It was so spectacular and the scenery was absolutely breathtaking. Maldives is even way better in person and of course, being on a private island resort is very exclusive because you’re not competing with thousands of other tourists. The high price is the only downside.
Hi guys! I’m actually in Boracay and I agree with you. I went to El Nido and Bohol. Much more better options. Thanks
Try to come back in Boracay 6 months later, lets see if it will still be there.
You have explored nice islands and its beaches. Philippines have nice waterfalls too
we didn't get to see waterfalls this time but we have heard the Philippines has amazing waterfalls
@@DavidandSarah best falls in cebu. Like kawasan falls
Boracay is the most beautiful beach in the world with six kilometers white sand beach and a sunset view and so many white sand beaches and private resort with white sand beaches around the island and all the island hopping with all white sand beaches no other island in the world has that.
Very honest opinion. Then again, to each his own. What is your definition of an island pradise by the way? just curious to know.
Im coming there in September and staying in Aqua so its more quiet place hopefully.
We're sure it will be amazing!
Algae is all over the world.,this mean it is natural.,there is season for algea this month there is no algea.,
Really ? Never seen in my country.
As a traveler myself, most of the times you get what you paid for. Period.
agree!
Thats an honest to goodness review 👍 i believed what you say.
thanks so much 😊
Algae is seasonal. And Boracay is basically not a Backpacker's cup of tea.
Do you really do that kind of vlog to other countries or anywhere i will try watching your other vlog if this is what kind of content you usually do bec ive notice your blogger who do lots of complain or maybe thats your style
Hey guys which one is better panglao beach in bohol or boracay?
ahh, hard to choose. they're both nice! but we would probably go back to bohol.
Ofcourse the areas that are the premier, postcard picture areas are not going to be the whole island. It would be impossible, that is alot to expect from an island that is nearly 4000 mi2, heck the entire Maldives doesnt even look like the IG photos, and it is a tiny spec compared to Boracay.
It is probably "overrated" but only compared to other places in Philippines
I think they just wanna find negative thing to say to an island that is dubbed as d number one beach in d WORLD that is BORACAY.
@@joshDislander I agree, I think it is overrated when it comes to locations in the country, ESPECIALLY when it comes to beautiful locations like 100 islands in Pangasinan Luzon, that place is astounding dont understand how there are no tourists.
agree with you! It's overrated compared to the many other beeeauuutiful Islands in the Philippines!
Thanks
Thank you! And thanks so much for supporting our channel 🥰
🥰🥰🥰
😊😍🇵🇭
That’s why I prefer Calaguas Island😊
we will have to check out this island next time 😊
Resort is always special everywhere. Beach is private.
Dude u want exclusivity? Why didnt you booked at boracay station zero? Bcoz personally, this content is just for another attention and views.
I totally agree with you. I've visited Boracay many times and I've seen it from when you can still arrive on White beach and also was there a few months ago. The construction of the big resorts ruined it for me. There are many islands in the Philippines that people can still experience the real island vibe.
agree! We've been to a few islands in the Philippines now and Boracay is the only one we might not visit again. The Philippines has amazing islands
Any suggestions for a more chilled out version of Boracay? Still with the Amenities but maybe not such a tourist trap?
@@EpicCrust Bohol had similar beaches to Boracay but our favourite island was definitely Siargao. We would love to go back there again!
Nice your t'shirt siargao 😊
Thanks! 😃
whether the algae is natural or man-made, would really like it if they can hire someone who would clean it from the waterz, not completely spotless but at least to minimize their presence in the water 🌊 [*maybe at least once a week, since they're earning from environmental fees]
P.S., ... with the touts/locals approaching to sell all sorts of trinkets, boat tours ⛵, water activities, etc. [*it's a turn off, would prefer they stay in one place and just have their contact #no. 📱 if and when someone decides to go for their services]
great constructive criticism! 👍
thank you so so much 😊🇵🇭
Boracay is not worth the trouble of getting their. To hot and 100 percent humidity.
Young prostitution on island is just overwhelmingly, and street selling won’t let you alone for one minute
The algae is not seasonal anymore. If you trace different vlog of Boracay from 2 years till now, you will see the algae all-around the year.
The only time I dont see it in a vlog is if there is a typhoon and a big wave sweep it up the beach and dry.
But it comes back after a few days so it is not seasonal.
Pinoy just dont want any negative vlog. They hate criticism of any kind. Onion skinned and instead of demanding accountability, they would rather get angry at people who expose the truth
"The only time I dont see it in a vlog" LMAO go visit the place at least before you make stupid statements
Maybe because most of what is said about the nation is straight up haters, and this is thumbs up and sub bait for Philippines and filipino haters like you
I was in BORACAY for 2 weeks OCTOBER 2022 there were NO algae 100% i have it on my VLOG TOO
@@MrWackydoodles I have been there 3x this year.
And on twice I see the algae.
And like I said, the only times I dont is when there was recently a typhoon.
I can easily search the different vlog with different months/dates and all with algae.
Pero kayo bahala. Pag tanggol nyo yan habang nasisira yan.
Tutal, mas importante ata sa inyo yung image kesa sa ingatan ang boracay
Lame vlogg
You're spreading wrong information 😂.
Australian beaches are the best mate
Australia definitely has some pretty beaches 😊
Craulo. Lumayas kayo dito sa Pilipinas hindi kayo kailangan dito lol.
very true , its over rated! in facts i don't like boracay.
hinde naman. it depends on the person. kung ikaw yung maraming complains then this is not for you. dami kayang bloggers na inenjoy ang Boracay so much.
@@sanchezvee uu kaya nga d na bumabalik at kung bumalik man takes months or years pa dahil na stress ahaa
this is all whiny stuff, you complain too much on a cheap place
You are not kind people
The whole Philippine is overrated
weh! tell it to the other bloggers why they like the Philippines so much.
not true. my American friends and me are keep coming back to the Philippines. They have never seen beautiful beaches and very friendly people in their entire travels except in the Philippines.
I am malaysian. The only place overrated is B A L I. I think phillippines is a normal destination like vietnam. Normal for me.
My first and last visit to Boracay was 30 years ago. It was ugly, not worth the trip and expense and I got skin rashes from swimming in the sea. It should be a lot worse by now.
Maybe you are just plain old worse
Lol these guys go in vacation with $8 and say its no good. Stop being cheap and broke and you'll have a good time
