    I’m not a Starbucks person or even a coffee drinker but every time I step into one, I have to get a birthday cake pop. :p

    Thank you for this video! My kids always want a cake pop at Starbucks if I go grab a coffee. (More often than not, I have to tell them no...) We've had sticks in the cupboard for years (my sister was making cake pops for a while, which inspired me) so we can make them at home. Your video might give me the kick in the pants I need to just make them already! This was great. Thanks so much!

      Thank you Valeria! I store my cake pops in an airtight container at room temperature for about 2-3 days for best taste. I don't keep them refrigerated since they tend to collect condensation which makes them slightly wet on the outside. I hope you enjoy this recipe! :)

      You don’t have to use the meat baller, but it just makes it easier. You can easily use a cookie scoop to get a similar size for each pop.

      Sorry I have never made cake pops with homemade cake before. I always found that buying the boxed cake mix helped speed up the process. Making cake pops can be a little time consuming so this is why I don't make my own cake.

      @@aparnay6391 Hmm thats a great question. I've never tired it with french vanilla flavored cake mix. I would assume it would taste quite similar, but probably a more prominent vanilla flavored cake pop.

    Starbucks cake pops are quite a doughy consistency. Were yours? How do you achieve that consistency? I have read some people mention to keep the cake in the fridge overnight so it dries out more. Either way, nice looking cake pops and thank you!

      Technically that is the correct consistency for cake pops. The texture is similar to cookie dough. If the dough is to dry it can fall apart. That is the same consistency as my cake pops. The vanilla frosting helps get that consistency. Hope that helps :)

      Simply Home Cooked I tried to follow this recipe and they turned out good besides the fact that they were too doughy almost undone raw cookie dough texture (but I know they were done) I think I may have added too much icing ?

      Hi! To keep them for becoming flat you place in a Styrofoam block and let it stand for about an hour. Enjoy 😊

    Hi if l am doing a party on Saturday how early can l prepare the cake pops, and if l prepare the cake by pop early, just leave it in the refrigerator tell l am ready

      Hi Helen, you can make the cake pops 3 days before the day you plan to serve them. I would keep them at room temperature in an airtight container. I've refrigerated them before and they got really wet with condensation. So I don't recommend refrigerating them.

      Don’t take my word for it but in case she doesn’t answer I don’t think there’d really be a substitute for it except maybe homemade frosting if it’s that texture, or just another brand if you just meant instead of that specific one

      Shelby Miller I don’t have a recipe for a cake mix cake but I have a basic sponge cake recipe I use for almost all my cakes. You can make the cake from this Berry chantilly cake video and add frosting to it. czcams.com/video/ZXF4B3q5biA/video.html just keep adding enough frosting until the cake pop dough will hold its shape. If you make the sponge cake from scratch you will need more frosting than what the recipe calls for. I hope that helps :)

    So I’m using this recipe for my child’s birthday, How do you store the cake pops? I’ve heard room temperature since the cake will expand once pulled out of the fridge.. So I was wondering what the right answer is. 😂

    The cake mix says to cook it for 34-38 minutes. Does it have to be 45 minutes?

      I usually bake it a little longer than what the package says to make sure the cake isn’t too moist so the cake pops don’t falls apart.

    The outer shell was too hard/thick. What did I do wrong?

      Was it hard after you dipped it? Or was it too hard during the dipping process? If it was too thick when dipping, I recommend adding some more shortening to help thin out the candy melts.

      It hardened after I dipped it. I think I just needed to add more shortening. They kept breaking off the sticks when I dipped so I guess it was too thick. The layer on the cake pop was also way too thick so they were too sweet.

      It sounds like the candy coating was too thick. Next time try adding more shortening or even melting aid. I find that the melting aid works best for thinning out candy melts.

    Do you actually cook the cake for that long?

      Every oven is different, so you might need to bake it less or more. I found that 40-45 minutes worked best for my oven. A great way to know if you’re cake is done is by inserting a toothpick in the center of the cake. If the tooth pick comes out clean, the cake is done :)

      Oh no :( Did you do anything different? Did you add less frosting by any chance? Too little frosting can cause them to fall apart.
