"should I wash my hands" -"No the minecraft people dont". the food inspectors would love this video
Almost a year later, that lack of handwashing is a whole new level of gross.
when it comes out of the oven you better have clean hands
but before it's cooked you aren't any more likely to have salmonella on your fingers than the eggs in the cake
I mean they ate the first cake uncooked, after it had just sat on the counter for 2 hours. I don't think they care about salmonella
I like how their classification on how good it is going to be is " It LOOKS like a cake"
So, it’s actually totally possible to make a cake with only Minecraft ingredients. That is, with no baking powder or butter. You do have to use flour instead of wheat, though, and the proportions are not equal. I wrote this recipe based off a recipe for soufflé pancakes, as they are leavened with egg, so there is no need for baking powder.
For the cake:
- 1/3 cup flour
- 11 teaspoons milk
- 1 large egg, separated into yolk and white
- 4 teaspoons granulated sugar
For the icing:
- 10 teaspoons powdered sugar
- 1 or 2 teaspoons milk
Directions:
For the cake;
1. Stir flour, milk, and egg yolk together until smooth.
2. Whip egg whites until they begin to thicken. Then, stream sugar in while whipping. Beat until they form stiff peaks.
3. Add one quarter of the egg white mixture into the batter and stir. Then add one half of the remaining egg white mixture, gently folding them in until combined. Do not deflate. Add remaining egg whites and fold them in gently.
4. Cook (I’ve done them as pancakes, they’re great - cooking them in a small saucepan on the stove over medium-high heat also works, if you want to make the cake one solid object).
For the icing:
1. Combine ingredients, adding milk to sugar a little at a time until desired texture is reached.
2. Top cake with icing and serve!
This method uses only Minecraft ingredients, although there’s a lot of preparation that goes into it. With this recipe (that was based on the fact that there was only one egg), you can determine that one milk bucket is about 4 teaspoons, one wheat bundle is about 1/9 cup, one sugar pile is about 7 1/2 teaspoons, and one egg is, well, one egg. If you try this out, let me know how it goes! Enjoy!
nice recipe tbh i wanna try it but i haven't buy milk yet lol, so yeah will totally tried this recipe
First "cake", if you'd actually baked it, would probably have turned into something similar to a rice pudding; I've made oat puddings like that, but I steamed them. Second cake was pretty much how cakes were before the middle of the 19th century, when baking powder was invented. Before that, they would beat the batter for an hour at least, to incorporate air and make the cake lighter. Back in those days there was the pound cake, and then there were also yeast-raised cakes, that were probably more like bread. I do have a copy of a 1796 cookbook, and I've made some of the recipes, like pumpkin pie and some of the pancakes, but I have yet to try one of the yeast cakes.
I'd like to see more like this, maybe try making Minecraft cookies.
@@iliketortles91 I was just telling him some stuff about cake, which he obviously appreciated. Sure it's a joke but it's always nice to learn about stuff.
Sodium bicarbonate (AKA baking soda) was discovered in late 1700s, soon after becoming part of baked goods. Combination of it and any acid (vinegar, lemon juice, and so on) gives same effect as modern baking powder. I am surprised that the old-timey cook book does not mention something along those lines, though it is very possible that baking soda was still a hard-to-get luxury thing at that time.
"We're gonna first make a totally accurate Minecraft 'cake', then we're gonna actually make a 'cake' out of it, then make an actual cake"
The shocking part of the video is that the biggest obstacle was not knowing how to bake the actual cake
Just watching 3 dudes going “DUDE!” “YOOOO!” While experimenting with baking mc cake is hilarious
"Minecraft is getting too realistic"
Me: Eats an entire steak within 3 seconds while falling out of orbit then putting water under myself and turn out completely fine.

Louis Weisz made the advancement: "The Lie"
*Don’t tell me there is a Portal 1 (First portal game of valve) reference*
The cake is, of course, a lie.
@@shjkmxqyWqXh Portal is a video game, released with Valve's orange box a long time ago.
Since then, its line of "The cake is a lie" has become an immortal reference that almost everybody understands.
My unusefull ideas:
-Make the milk into cream (Good topping, easy to make, saves milk ->cake not so wet)
-Bake the layers individually, like pancake.
But still, you guys made a impressive product!

Your channel has the quality of a million-subscriber, couple-hundred-thousand-view channel. But your channel doesn’t get much recognition, subscribed! Keep up the great work.
Looks like the CZcams algorithm finally picked him up. It finally suggested his channel to me about 36 hours ago and his sub counts has already more than doubled. Awesome to see.
The sign in the back of the kitchen that says “many people have eaten in this kitchen and gone on to lead normal, healthy lives.” has chaotic energy for some reason
"GUYS WE MADE CAKE"
"HOLY SHIT"
Them continuing to stir the batter for a ridiculously long time after adding the flour was pure, overdeveloped gluten-induced pain.
You got to remember this cake gets made in the middle of a survival situation so it’s pretty impressive that it’s actually good
By the time you are likely to make Minecraft cake you are pretty much past the actually challenging survival situation.
When you casually spawn near chicken, sugarcane, and you gun for wheat for bread for some reason
This is really nicely done, I have no idea why this doesn’t have more views
4:21 “I think that’s an idea”
lol
We also have to remember the crafting has only 9 spaces. I’m sure the devs would’ve liked to add more ingredients, but they put in only the essentials to stay within 9 spots to fill.
they couldve always swapped out one of the doubled ingredients for different ones if that was the problem, the reason is that adding even more would just make it way too overcomplicated
just three dude Bros trying to bake a cake from their favorite video game it's just wholesome
Ok fine it’s cringe when redditors use the word “wholesome”, but at this point the people making fun of said redditors are just as cringy. People can’t even use the word wholesome without being associated with Reddit anymore.
I imagine this is how people in a posible post-apocalyptic world would try to recreate cakes once again

Guy in the middle is like "damn you guys actually ate it?"
This is criminally underrated. This was a very good experiment!

me: cries in possible salmonella
@Misanthrope-A-Dope Flour is raw and can be a source of salmonella or E. coli, so it needs to be heat treated if one wants to make edible cookie dough or something similar.
@Misanthrope-A-Dope If you are going to eat a raw egg, please do not leave it sitting out for an hour first.
@Misanthrope-A-Dope Raw food doesn't have bacteria, if you leave it outside in heat for too long it will start getting bacteria, if shops would sell food with bacteria, they would go down
@Misanthrope-A-Dope Idk what I'm talking about I just wanted a good point liked and subscribed reply lol.
@Misanthrope-A-Dope but what If you are Gaston and eat several raw eggs for breakfast
Thanks for including me, dude! Such a good time!
@@Weisz Yeah, this was a blast to record and I think the video turned out great!
The three of you were awesome together :) Hope to see you do more collaborations together!
The Use of TangoTek's intro music (whether intentional or not) during the third cake recipe really made the Minecraft hit home more 😂
The bro hype over achieving the second cake was wild and I loved watching guys be so excited about something so pure.
but a water bucket places almost 1 block of water in mc, implying that the cake would have to use almost 3m³ of milk...
@@PenguinStealsFruits0 I mean, the cake in minecraft is rather large.
You also get the sugar directly from sugar canes which are also about 1m same with the wheat so big cake
This is the second video of yours that I have watched. When you pulled up the Minecraft pause screen, I died laughing. Great video!
I came across this channel about a week ago and I’ve already almost seen every video 🤣 the content is incredible
Fun fact : Steve grinds his flour with his bare hands meaning if he had his exact strength from Minecraft in Smash he would be s or A Teir
Edit: wow triple digit likes
Who is to say he doesn't have a grinder in the crafting table? We can see a saw in the side texture, afterall. Who knows what is in the tool drawer.
Ofc he does. Some ppl did the math how strong he is and hes superhuman. (one example would be his inventory full with gold blocks which weights several tons)
Steve grinds the wheat into flour with his fist
I know I'm late but I just stumbled across your channel while I was browsing earlier.
I think you make really great and quality content while not being too detached from the casual person/group creating content while having fun - the original CZcams mission.
Great job! Subscribed instantly after the Minecraft boat video. Keep it up and you'd definitely be a featured content creator one day.

I love Minecraft videos! I’m new to this channel, and I like it already
Wow, never would have thought I would be watching this right after New Years.
why does the frosting on the last cake look like somebody got *really* excited to see that cake
That is why you never frost a cake straight out of the oven. You wait for it to become cool to the touch.
Really liked how you guys researched into actual baking practices and techniques for the final cake. Also there’s a good chance that the denseness in the second cake could possibly be due to over-mixing or maybe due to the lack of baking soda or baking powder in it perhaps.
Steve is so professional at making cakes. He baked it without an oven and that makes no sense.
Him using the minecraft recipe to try and make cake irl:

Hey Everyone! I'm going to be doing a stream of some minecraft *this Monday from 7pm-8:30pm EST* over on Twitch, and I'm planning to do Q&A and talk about some upcoming projects as well if you're interested. It's a one time thing for now, but if a lot of you come, I'd definitely consider doing them more often!
My twitch is www.twitch.tv/weiszcracks/ -- I hope to see you there!
EDIT:
This is old now, but I will be doing more streams! Follow me there if you wanna see em :D
Now that berries are actually in the game, it’d make sense if they changed the recipe to require one berry in place of one of the three buckets of milk.

man based on the game's sizing, i thing chicken eggs might be the size of like ostrich eggs
I love this. They clearly have no idea how to make a cake and that just makes this video all the more wholesome and endearing
I don’t know how to feel about the fact you had so so much baking equipment but didn’t know you needed a rising agent before reading an article 😂
To be fair for the first two cakes they were trying to stick to the ingame recipe. And the ingame recipe makes no mention of a leavening agent.
Though anyone with some experience in French cuisine would know it's possible to leaven with eggs. Though it is a skill and would still produce a denser cake than more modern methods.
shit, i really like how you added the minecraft pause menu when u wanted to add more info about the cake
With the amount of research y’all did, you should continue on with game food videos
9:15, The flour in Steve's recipe should weigh quite a bit more depending on his method of processing the wheat.
the moment they didn't add baking powder or yeast i knew it would come out like a brick
They probably could've just whipped the egg(or even just the whites) and that would work.
It's so funny hearing royalty-free music snippets in different contexts throughout CZcams. For example, the theme Tango Tek uses at the opening of all his Hermitcraft videos can be heard around 8:50.

6:31 early French bakers create successful attempt to perfect a cake recipe
I never knew that cake was THIS easy to make. I might try this myself
Potential recipe fix for the second version:
Icing:
Take 1/4 of the sugar and mix it with enough milk to form a sort of 'royal icing'. A looser icing than usual might be better to use up some of the milk, lol. Set aside.
'Cake':
Separate the egg into the yolk and whites.
In a bowl, beat the yolk with a 1/2 of the sugar until the mixture is pale yellow and frothy. Add milk slowly and mix, trying not to lose any air you might have beaten into it.
Beat the whites in a separate bowl with a 1/4 of the sugar to form a meringue, which will be the main source of leavening.
Fold the meringue into the yolk mixture, again trying to retain as much air as possible.
Sift the flour onto the batter and fold again, trying to retain the air/volume, until evenly incorporated. Don't over-mix.
Pour batter into prepared cake tin. Bake at 180C or 350F or maybe until a cake tester/skewer comes out clean?
Remove from oven and let cake cool completely before removing from pan. Use the icing prepared earlier on top.
ITS STARTING...
