I"M SO GLAD TO SEE DESIGN INC.!!! (shout out to Abode! THANK YOU!🤩!) What a unique episode, with a fantastic result---truly a transformation (as usual with Sarah and her team). The yellow is cheery, imho...and I think they made a very fun & usable space!

Excellent result, but can't help but wonder if Sara's assistant felt more undercut than the customer.
Yeah, the yellow was not her best choice.
8:13 - "doesn't Sarah forget to rollup the sun roof in this episode?" I thought that was going to be the sound guy's first words when he interrupts lol
So... the client doesn’t like yellow and doesn’t want a bunch of plants to take care of. But Sarah chooses the whole scheme around YELLOW PLANTS. 🙄
I liked this deck but yea, when I think of this episode I think of that.
As a client, I'd have fired her and made sure she credited me for all the yellow fabric. That arrogant, superior tone in the 'I forgot to ask the client' made me like Sarah quite a bit less.
She does that a lot.
She tries to push clients into liking things that they wouldn’t end up liking before seeing it. It’s common… like not wanting to eat something because you never tried it before.
I’ve always heard “don’t hire a designer if you know what you want.” You also have to search their portfolios to see why you’d like them and what you’d want based off their work. If you knew SR Design Inc was “too bold” or “always so daring” you may need to re-evaluate hiring her. I think of Ingrid and that RED FIREPLACE WALL. Case in point - the homeowner was never truly happy with it most of the episode. She even says “it seemed at times they weren’t listening…”. All things to consider before hiring a designer or artist.

I'm a graphic artist so it's always color for me but it doesn't have to be blasted in the face color either so you know what to do. Pillows, rugs, pots, plants, umbrellas, all of it can be both or one. And yeah, grew up with cotton trees so know all about that. So someone who gardens and is an artist... 🙂 there ya go! Never heard of anyone being allergic to cottonwood trees ;-) and yeah, wondering why they planted a cottonwood tree in a city.
*raises hand* I'm one of those people who's allergic to them, too! Discovered when I went to Detroit for the first time (I've always lived on the west coast) and that fluff was all over.
Cottonwood tree allergy symptoms can be similar to many other pollen allergies and may include: Sneezing. Nasal congestion. Runny nose. The cotton is in fact the tree pollen. Look it up. Many people in my area are very allergic to these trees and I don't think anyone actually plants them. I call them tree weeds because they spread and grow at an alarming rate. 😖
I live in Saint Petersburg, Russia, and for some reason in old soviet times they decided to plant cottonwood trees all over the city... I feel like half of our citizens now is less or more allergic to it. July is the month of sneezing here
@@chestopan1931 That is interesting and I still find it odd because when it's in season and the cotton starts flying, it's major annoying just with that. They are big ole trees and love the sound of the leaves, sounds like a river sometimes, but with the cotton it's a mess. I had so many allergies growing up in the country but not that one. We have them blowing cotton around the end of May in the midwest US.
Where to begin. #1 What does this look like a week later? Fluff all stuck in the woven spheres, under the furniture, caught on the plants. The cotton is not a short period thing it will be ALL SUMMER!! #2 Sorry Sarah I know it's your usual but you really really need to go with colors the client chooses!! #3 The glass top will have to be washed daily. Trees also put off a fine filmy sap that really shows on glass!! #4 I hope they gave her a battery operated blower, the homeowner will need to do what she can to get rid of the cotton EVERYTIME she goes out. After it rains the cotton will be MATTED to that woven furniture. Don't know if it existed back then but there is a line made of composite material that would be a much smarter long haul, all weather choice. Sure this looks great but practical NOT!!! Sorry but this really is a fail in many levels. What did she do besides that flimsy umbrella for shade/cooling the place??? Can anyone say pergola!! There is NOTHING over the eating area shade wise. What the heck??!! I see they are all huddled under that umbrella no one at the table. If she nixed the unwanted plants and spent the money on solid shade structure she would have somewhere to hang garden lights. Can anyone say SUNSETTER!! I hope the home owner got this all in trade for the free stage. When working outside LOOKS cannot be the first on your list FUNCTION FUNCTION FUNCTION has to be!!!
I have to say I agree with your assessment of most of the design choices. The space is pretty, but I question whether it is functional.
I agree with you but the cottonwood is only an issue for 2 or 3 weeks in early June. It's pretty easy to vacuum up and it just kind of disappears after some good rain. I know their struggle those trees are everywhere in my area!
Are we sitting in the hot sun to eat at the table? What about a trellis or awning?
For me all the yellow stripe looks too busy and matchy-matchy, but what a great spot to entertain!
Wow when I heard Sarah say well this is what I want. I'm tired of blues and greens! Just wow. Must be her deck. She bullied her client into accepting her choices! I'd have fired her or at least made her change the fabric out (at her expense) to what I the client wanted.
Where was the lighting!!!!!!! Totally dropped the ball on that. Outdoor space, enjoy during the summer, to hot during the day!!!! Where was the Lighting!
I would go crazy cleaning all that glass everyday. I agree with many of you that a pergola would have been a great option. I guess the client liked the yellow at the end and sometimes you get lucky but I wouldn't have been happy. If I said no grey and came home to a sea of grey....💀
Sarah beware! Ignoring the clients' wishes (colour, no plants to take care of) and all of sudden change the careful chosen plans of an employee, has a smell of arrogance.
Don't like the yellow, should have stuck with the blue and green. More contrast with the dark furniture...IMO!🤔

Sarah: You have to LISTEN to your client. It is really disrespectful no less unprofessional not to do so. You never presented yellow as an option. If you had done so, she would told you she doesn't like yellow. The customer was gracious about it but you may not get away with that next time. For real!
The orange-red stain of the decking would have been complimented much better with cool colours and the striped fabric up against the vertical fencing was too much. Why give a woman loads of live plants to care for when she said she doesn’t do well with plants? The furniture itself was great but the other aspects were fails. I can’t help but think that Tovah was disappointed and was a good sport for the camera.
She did it Again did not listen to what the client wants the client didn't want yellows she gave her yellows the client pays the bill I would have made her change it I would have said take it away and give me what I asked for. If I were writing a review I would say she failed. She convinces people that what she wants is what they want.
Talk about drama… I’m riveted.
