These files differ depending on the customer and location (continent) and can be updated. But (as far as I know) there's no real physical difference between the US and the export version.

The F35 indeed has a troubled development. The technology and capabilities it possesses are undeniably far ahead of its competitors (It can detect and take out planes or targets even before it's detected─Its multi-domain information sharing is unmatched) but I do agree about buying a couple to get used to them and adapt a doctrine around them. There are now 840 F35s in existence and production is only ramping up, lowering costs more and more in the long term.

If all your neighbors also have F35's it means your air force can easily communicate and share information with other F35's and have real-time battlefield information. The F35 does have problems, but there are already over 800 of them. Lockheed is offering participating countries technology-sharing, to take part in its construction and provide jobs. Production is ramping up and costs will get lower over time.

I am from Czech Republic. I can not believe what our government is capable of. We were hiring Saab Jas 39 Gripen from Sweden- very good aircrafts IMHO. Now Sweden told us that those aircrafts my country can get for free!!! Those aircrafts are very good now and also they could be modernized if necessary in future. My country is small and we have big debt, so it would be very wise to keep those aircrafts now. But my government seems to like the idea of buying expensive F-35 from country which just a few days ago bombed the critical infrastructure which could have been used this winter by Germany and by my country too to safe our economy.
