- MalaMala Safari Moments: Episode 123.
...
From MalaMala Game Reserve to wherever you are in the world, we'll bring you moments from our daily safaris in one of Africa's most iconic private game reserves. This is essentially a continuation of our 'Rangers in Isolation' series which was filmed during the national Lockdown.
Never a dull moment with the spotted Hyenas!
Never! I mean how can there be, with all that laughter going around. They always have a blast😂
I LOVE HYENA'S! They are so charismatic and dramatic lol. Thank you for sharing!
Not only all that ,they are so cuddly too and make such soothing noises......nothing like the famished demons some liken them to .
Hyenas and african wild dogs are my favorite predators. In this video I loved how the original 3 held their food (ground) as the other clan made threats a while this was going the lone male of the trio was alone in the begining of the supposed invasion. He made threats to the beligerents. He then went back to the kill and the females allowed him to eat, this time as one relieved him of his sentry post. Then the family of original three ate the rest of kill. This was beautiful! I am thinking that the other clan was perhaps full from a meal and going home but was curious of the scent of death for they could have easily overcome that trio. Or even that they recognized each others scent and the other group could have been a sister clan. At times hyenas will be seperate groups of clans related forming super clans with like 80 members on rare times they assemble this way! Hyeneas are so beautifully brutal.
As gory & gruesome as it appears to the human eye, it shows the extraordinary dynamics between hyena clans & even the rankings with a clan...It is about Extreme Survival in Africa, at any cost...Amazing Footage not often seen!
Incredible to watch the complex structure of a female driven species. Wow…. Great content. Thank you, MalaMala, for a FAB video. Enjoyed it very much. A tug at the heart for the beautiful kudu. Life in the bush is raw. 🔥✨♥️
Spotted Hyenas are matrilineal, not matriarchal. If a male stays with his birth clan, he outranks any female his mother ranks above. It's just that most males choose to leave their birth clan for a better chance of breeding, and when they join a new clan they get the lowest rank because they have no relatives their to give them a higher one. Stop making them out to be female dominated- they just aren't.
Awesome footage MalaMala! Thanks for sharing!
I love those sounds
I think this was a unique sighting in that we got a chance to see the hyenas catch, kill, and eat the prey. We also see the dynamics of this hierarchal clan. Awesome Rangers.
Fantastic job on this rather difficult scene. I have to admit it was hard to watch the beautiful stately female kudu with that leg so mangled that there was no hope for her. But nature takes its course! Watching the opposing hyena clans was so very interesting. The sounds are legendary! Thanks for a very interesting glimpse at 'real life in the Bush'!
Would have loved to see the whole video on how they killed the Kudu.
Why did you cut it? Can you post it separately?
Extraordinary. We don't often see hyenas on the hunt in videos, thus their scavenger reputation, but with those bone-crushing jaws it is no surprise that two could take down a large beast just by breaking a leg or two. They are lucky the noisy clan fight didn't attract lions. That kudu almost disappeared, too. Incredible. It is always sad to see these kills, but that kudu's life nourished so many.
I'm sure the kudu's leg was previously broken/injured and the hyenas picked off an injured animal.
It is a joke? There are lot of videos in youtube about hyenas hunting antelopes...
@@healthinspector4827 Indeed...antelope ,the lot.....J should definitely watch more nature docus , then he can watch hunting hyenas to his heart's content.
@@chriscn8153 well you’re blind then because the Kudu’s leg wasn’t broken at the start of the video and you literally see a perfect shot of the Hyena breaking its leg. What a weird comment, it’s like you didn’t even watch the video
@@chriscn8153 um you do realize that Hyenas are know for crippling or breaking their preys legs right?
Incredible ! Hyena Vocals are always phenomenal (RIP kudo)
Какой ещё " вокал" 😁/ это чёрт знает что...
Wow! Amazing, the sounds and your photography! I couldn't stomach the first part today,(many days I can but not today 🙈) had to look away for a bit lol, but when the Kudu was dead it was just amazing this whole feeding frenzy going on! Thank you for sharing it with us!
I think its because with the Lions they cut off the air supply straight away so it quicker. This poor animal had its legs broken one by one and then eventually they killed it. It was like a mafia style torture.
@@rasher331 there’s a video of a lone Hyena snapping a Kudu’s neck instantly on Kruger sightings CZcams page, this Kudu is large so they can’t reach the head so they break the legs, it’s gruesome but what else do you want them to do, starve?
It’s amazing how much quicker a Hyena clan can clear a carcass compared to a lion pride.
@Levent.A that’s not true, they have to worry about Hyenas
@Levent.A lmao except CZcams is full of videos of Hyenas attacking Lions and making them run away from their food 😂🤦🏻♂️
They don't have the luxury of lions to eat slowly and take naps.
@@kinglistosas5010 with the male Lion coming in and attacking all the other Lions and stealing their hard earned kill, yep such amazing table manners from Lions lmao there’s a recent video of a male lion breaking his sons spine cos he tried to eat at the meal lmao accident or not, amazing table manners from Lions ey bruh 🥴🤦🏻♂️
@@kinglistosas5010 such amazing table manners from Lions 😂 - czcams.com/video/NAUsTPxCiX0/video.html
I love hyenas.. They are truly misunderstood.. It is hard to watch when they catch a kill but we all have to eat..
The hyena society is kinda like living in my house as my partner also rules 😕 she definitely gets the final say in everything lol
Howe the hyena attacked the kudu was wild.
Amazing and cruelly video 🤩 🤩🤩🤩
Great footage, but it would have been better to show the entire scene.
Smart move going for the leg straight away to immobilise
It's all about life of course but i personally feel a bit tired of hardcore and want smth peaceful♥️ still great action.
La ley de la naturaleza 👀👀la preza y el cazador saludos cordiales desde Sudamérica Santa Cruz bolivia 🇧🇴 👍
Fantastic footage guys! ✌❤
Shame but great footage gang !!
We want the gory scenes... dont cut it next time.
Charming as usual......hyenas always make my day......👍🥴
So sad sorry for kudu 😢
There was a previous interaction between two clans that took place at a river and a kudu carcass was involved. Aren’t these the same clans from a previous video?
Please upload the full uncut version if possible.
Cmon seriously, is there a complete version of this video?? Almost the entire kill was cut out!!
Wow seriously?? The kudu went from laying down to dead and ripped to pieces. You cut out all the action of the encounter! That's seriously weak!! Any chance you can post the whole thing??
why skip all the awesome parts??😬
Muito bom! 👍👍👍👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Love those hyena calls ! Felt sorry for the poor kudu - no chance at all against the hyena! Surely the action will attract crocodiles ?
So much content left out.. 😌
Wow innocent kudu no idea if he going to die or survive those savage predator has no mercy Antelopes are precious animals
Very good view 👍
You cut the best part.
Why did u cut out the actual kill, you are probably wearing your little masks feeling safe.
Hyenas are incredible hunters but i hate them for eating their prey alive. Hooo
Lions have done that too
It's the same with lions and even tigers. Crocs can be kind of 'kind' killers if successful, as they will drown their prey quickly.
@@geraintthatcher3076 but most the time, they make sure to kill the prey by suffocating before they strat to eat, except for buffalo kill.
@@hotbit7327 have you seen a
Wildebeest has been eviscerated by hyena and its fetus has been pulled out from the womb while its alive.omg.
Jithin, lions do the same thing, leopards do, wild dogs do, hyena are just the same as others.
When animals are eating they always act like it is their first time tasting & eating food. All animals
Not really graphic when skip the entire kill
Приятного аппетита
Once upon a time there was a Kudu right over there
What are you doing on Safari if you didn’t want to see that? 🙄
If you don’t want to see it then drive off and don’t look for it
0:57 wow! you didn't want to see that? Why are you in that vehicle? smh
Смерть во имя жизни.
Kudo meat looks nice and lean. I’d eat it🥩. The big female hyena that pushed all the others off the kill except for the younger one that broke the kudus leg must be the alpha? And the young one her daughter? Yeah?
Why didn't you show the agony of that Kudu being eaten alive?
❤❤❤❤
Well they din't mind losing a big chunk of steak....just floated away
I think all bad people…..after death 💀 comes back like hyenas for one more round of suffering…..🙏👍🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Prey species have it rough! 😢
They actually don't. The vast majority of them don't get eaten by predators. That's a human perception thing, where we think individuals of a species matter (in nature). This individual kudu has no special importance in the kudu population. If the population is healthy/thriving then that's all that matters.
.❤❤❤❤
This is why Lions hates Hyenas
Because Hyenas more successful at hunting than Lions?
Spreading debunked information but otherwise good video
I'll ask this again. Why are you not showing the full kill? A lot of people come here to see it.
They probably think we find it disturbing. Wich i dont,i think its amazing to see hyenas hunt. Or maybe they just wanted to keep the video under 10min
i cant watch
That’s the thing about lions at least, they kill very quickly!
That’s not true at all, suffocation can take around 30-45 mins, by that time the Hyenas have already turned their carcass into skin and bone. You think it’s that way cos the Lions suffocate but as gruesome as it is, this way is much faster.

Didn't like this one this time. I fast-forward'd through most of it.
I've never not been able to watch a kill video but only made it 57 seconds into this one. Made me think about the psychology involved in that decision. So..if it was say a buffalo, I wouldn't have found it so bad. Is that because, from a human perspective, kudu are beautiful but buffalo aren't? (In the eye of the beholder, I know). Mind you, it's also because it's hyenas. Partly because they again aren't exactly attractive but mostly because hyena kills are mostly more grisly, and again from a human perspective, more cruel. Ok I'll shut up now!
You skipped heaps of the bloody video 👎🏽
To all you anti hunting hippies. Would you rather an animal die like this? Slow and extremely painful? Or die within a second. You decide
Such repulsive creatures that make dreadfully awful sounds.
How they are just doing what god made them to do
❤❤❤❤
