Systemic racism caused this beautiful soul to lose her life. The medical industry was able to monopolize off her cells. Although her cells were able to produce various vaccines , I feel her family should have been compensated 🙏🏾

What was done to Mrs. Lacs and her family is a tragedy. Then to find out they are still using her Cells around the World and her family has not been compensated is proof that Medical & systemic racism still exists in 2024.
Sounds like John Hopkins killed this woman with radium "treatments". Interesting she went from one tumor to many after getting "treatment. I think once they realized her cells were immortal they didn't need the source anymore. Her family should get royalties forever from the medical use of her cells by the medical establishment for decades.
Yes, radium treatments and even later radiation treatments were horrible for most patients.
From Turner Station, in Dundalk, MD here. The HeLa cell-line seems to be immortal and has made companies goo-gobs of money but these companies went out of their way to NOT give the Lacks family the recognition they deserved. I'm glad the family made it so companies HAVE to acknowledge the Lacks family's contributions to medical history.
