How sweet it sounds! It is awesome to have some friends that can pitch in. I call it quality time spent. The Georgia roads will soon never be the same. Cheers and Congratulations. Mike
Congratulations, engine looks and sounds great. Terrific job. Now, if you don't mind you can come up here and help me get my Jeep looking as good as yours. Again congrats. Jim
JD Offline Spoke to the shop yesterday, the transmission is installed although they had a few minor issues that they overcame. Couple more things I'd like them to address before I bring it home. Then I'll work on new springs, shocks, and body mounts. Jim
Jim Johnston sounds good. You’ll have to let me know how you like the ax15. You might be driving yours before I drive mine!! Did you have to modify your rear driveshaft at all?
Matt, this series is GOLD for me! I've got an '84 CJ-7 that I'm doing the same thing with. I was on the fence about replacing the I-6 but watching this, I think you helped me make my mind up. AND - I'm sure you're saving me many mistakes and missteps along the way. I've subscribed and I'm sure I'll be going back through some of these more than once as I hit the same point in my restore. I've got frame issues to begin with, so mine will have to be a frame-off restore, but I'm liking the looks of the full replacement frame from Throttle Down Kustoms up in Montana. I'm here in Utah as well, didn't know Novak was here until you mentioned it, so that might make my transportation stuff a little easier. Might just be able to drive my transfer case over to them to get it started on the refresh. Thanks for putting this all together, I'm sure I'm not the only person who's life you've made easier by showing all the issues that cropped up along the way. The Jeep is looking and sounding awesome! Great job!
Thank you for the feedback. I just watched your CJ intro video on your channel and it looks like you are about to begin an awesome journey. You won't regret the 350 swap if you do it and it will make your Jeep so much fun to drive. Although with all new components I haven't had an issue with the carb on my 350, I understand the efficiencies of fuel injection and have also debated on the Holley Sniper FI as an upgrade. I can tell you from my experience that I didn't realize how far I was going to go with my Jeep in the beginning and I like that you have a plan mapped out and you know where you want to go. One thing I've thought about is when is the right time to paint? I'm debating that with my new Camaro project now. Anyway for what it's worth it seems to me that paint should be done earlier rather than later and if you are able to bring pieces to the painter and reassemble yourself you will save some money. It also will avoid overspray on your freshly painted frame/wheels/tires/suspension (I learned this from experience). Anyway, great luck with your project and I will follow along. Don't hesitate to ask any questions. My email is JD_Offline@yahoo.com. By the way, I'm John and my buddy Matt is the one who really helped me with this motor swap. Thanks for checking out the channel. JD
Congratulations!!!!! The Jeep sounds amazing and looks fantastic!! Part of the fun,,,or not so much fun lol,,, is all the problem solving when you take on these projects. Give yourself a pat on the back,,,your doing a fantastic job. I really enjoy watching your videos!!!! All the hard work will be worth it when your cruising this summer,,,because you earned it. Cheers 🍻!!!!!
Bobby Hill Thanks so much Bobby. It’s certainly never easy but I’m a couple weeks away from having this thing driving daily. The motor does sound awesome. The video does it no justice. Appreciate you watching the channel, it means a lot. Thank you!!
I can't even begin to tell you how cool that is and I will guarantee you will be nothing but impressed with the Speed Hut gauges. They are very nice and very precise. I love how my Jeep turned out and I'm literally still working on it as we speak! Love that thing...anyway thank you so much for the comment/feedback, it really does mean a lot to me and I'm glad your getting your Jeep back on the road!! Keep us/me posted on your progress. JD
@@JDOffline I'm looking forward to them. I'm still at the beginning of my swap but I'll be referring back to your build for help. Thanks for the detailed work you've done.
This is amazing JD! I came across your videos a few weeks back and I've been binging on them to catch up! While it's great to follow real-time, it sucks waiting for your next installment! I want to build a CJ-7 from the ground up and you're giving me the blueprint on how to do it. I've very familiar with a lot of the parts you're using because I've researched the same parts! Keep up the great work as you're almost there! This is the best video I've seen on what to do while social distancing!
Doug thank you for that feedback. I’m definitely excited to get the Jeep back on the road. Building a Jeep is something that will teach you so much patience and persistence. I’m almost there!! Thanks again for your support.
this guy is legit. i like his videos bc its strght forward, to the point not a bunch of extra bs and he responds to my questions. his install vids were right inline with where i am in my project. seems like a down to earth dude as well. And he Drinks beer with his Jeep.
Thank you Hillbilly! It only had headers on at the time so the mufflers quieted it down some but I love the way it sounded with just the headers. Thanks for checking out the video.
what is the stainless steel braided strap on the passenger side front on the engine? Btw... i like the black head light bezels...cool touch. That "bitch" is gonna keep u smiling for many miles... great job!
yah I Ride Thanks. That’s a ground strap for the engine and I put another smaller one from the body to the frame. My cj had them from the factory and painless highly recommends them. They sell them at an additional cost to their wiring kit. The black bezels are made by kentrol and I think I got them at Morris 4x4. Nice touch. Thanks for the feedback.
@@JDOffline My .02 on the vallve covers would be too have your wife paint the Chevrolet red on them. Not that you cant, but if your like me, my sausage fingers and lack of painting patience wont alloy for a good job.... just saying... thanks again for the reply.
JD. I am just an old man with too much time , I did a lot of this and it is way more than I need , what are you thoughts on down sizing , I bought my CJ 5 new , now way more than I need , please help . I love my Jeep .
Gary, I would say keep your Jeep! Of course that's what I'm going to say!! Your comment got me curious a bit...you bought a CJ5 new and still have it?? If so, please keep it and keep that old iron on the road! JD
Thanks Jay. It turned out well so far. Still not on the road yet but will be here in the next week or two. I'll be doing a video real soon on my next project and post it on here.
I have exactly the same crate engine for my 1973 C3 Corvette. Your engine sound so good I can’t wait to get to this first start moment🤗 Is there anything special you did to break it in? Any words of wisdom? Thanks and keep up the good work!
@@MM-hh5nz No you saw it in this video, just primed the oil pump and started it up. That's one of the advantages to these later model roller blocks. It runs great (other than the cold carb starts). I'm thinking of doing a Holley Sniper EFI system shortly. Strong motor for sure. JD
Sorry to bother you again, so...I also bought deluxe motor kit and I have to install my mechanical fuel pump. Since it uses roller cam, what fuel pump pushrod did you use? Stock GM or anything special? Thanks for your time!

Per the specs, 357 horsepower
I just love the sound of those engines...
If it was any cooler it would sound like a Merlin off a P-51
