This was the first "Babymetal Death" version with MomoMetal as an official member and it was a come back song after December 2017 iirc. They did Babymetal Death Shin Version at Budokan 2021 but it's a way different version.
Next month is coming Legend MM celebrating MomoMetal special birthday in Yokohama.

Performed as 2nd last song at PIA Arena that night Ijime Dame Zettai being closing song , but apart from a few times, if they performed it , this was an opening for their show . I've seen them 5 times now, and BabyMetal Death was opening the other 2 where Megitsune and Future Metal into Da Da Dance . Their is no feeling like being in an audience full of BabyMetal fans . My throat was sore for a week after the last show i went to 😂😊👍

Love how the crowd cheered louder when Momometal said "Momometal desu" She deserves every bit of it... And this isn't even that crazy by Babymetal standards.... Check out Babymetal Death from Legend 1997 (Su's 16th bday concert) or In The Name Of from Legend S Baptism XX (Su's 20th bday concert)....Those 2 shows/performances best showcase the theatrical brilliance of Babymetal... 😁😁😁🤘🦊🤘
Great reaction. This video is celebrating the 10th anniversary of the launch of their first album, 'BABYMETAL Death' was the first song on the album. They had not played it live since 2017 because it is an intro song and they are introducing themselves by name, but they couldn't really use it with just two official members and the original third member Yuimetal didn't appear at all after October 2017 and officially announced she was leaving the band in October 2018.
This performance was on 2nd April 2023 - the first concert with Momometal as an official member, so 'BABYMETAL Death' was back ... I don't know if you heard the crowd cheer particularly loudly when she introduced herself as "Momometal desu".
The whole song is based on a pun. The English word death sounds to a Japanese speaker like the Japanese word desu (the U is silent) spoken with a slight lisp.
Desu means to be - as in I am, we are, it is etc. Basically the lyrics for this song are: "B_A_B_Y_M_E_T_A_L" ... "I am Su-metal", "I am Moametal", "I am Momometal" "We are BABYMETAL" ... "Death Death Death Death Death Death Death Death".
Awesome! This whole song is an intro 😂. Desu (silent “u”) = I am / We are. Say it with a lisp and it sounds like Death. Babymetal loves a pun.

Take it a step farther. Not only does 'SU-METAL DESU' mean she's introducing herself, it's also her super-hero transformation phrase.
Like on Sailor Moon, Usagi says 'Moon Prism Power!' and turns into Sailor Moon, Suzuka Nakamoto shouts 'I AM SU-METAL' and becomes possessed by the spirit of the Fox God and transforms into the Metal Goddess SU-METAL.
The magical girl who transforms into a hero is a huge trope in Japan, comparable to Disney princesses in the west. BABYMETAL DEATH! follows the trope and it's the moment that they all transform into their magical alter egos at the start of the show.

Been going to their shows since 2014. 25 shows to be exact. And every single time it's an emotional experience.. Especially with friends that have been doing this with me also. I've never experienced anything like the Babymetal community. Although the Band-Maid community comes close, but those are just a bunch of old guys 🤣🤣🤣🤣 JUST KIDDING GUYS! JUST KIDDING!!

Well the title is a problem by itself. Originally they were trained with a stage persona in mind and theyre standard opening is called Babymetal Death, although the Real Text was Babymetal desu (Form from to be). They sing "Su Metal desu / Moa Metal desu / Momo Metal desu" and "Babymetal desu" and this song helped them to find their Persona. But later they created Modifications for it, like when Amuse decided to Demeter Suzuka Nakamoto from their Database. And Amuse never expected a go ahead message
So I was at PIA Arena for this show, and yes it is kind of a religious experience. Being among 10,000 fellow devotees of the Fox God yelling "Death! Death! Death!" and jumping up and down like a maniac is hard to describe, but there is nothing else like it and it's worth the trip to Japan to be there for one of these live shows.
This one was a particularly special occasion because it was the first performance with Momometal as the new official third member of Babymetal, so the performance of this song and Momometal saying "Momometal death!" was the moment she was fully inducted in Babymetal. If you listen to the audio closely, you can hear the crowd roar in approval when she says it. The whole show was like a welcome celebration, and this song was the crescendo of that celebration.

This has become a recurring song for Babymetal. The iconic original from the Legend 1997 Live in Japan is astonishing for so many reasons. That said there is something about this version that I find particularly satisfying. Really glad you choos this version to play and react too. Great comments and watching your ever growing astonsihment and wonder at the performance and crowd interplay were very enjoyable. Nice job.

The first time I walked into a Babymetal show, the entire arena spelling out their name and going fucking nuts convinced me that there was something special about to happen.

Yeah, the scream is not her, remember they were performing this song over 10 years ago, they were just kids and it was the same scream.
IF it is her, it was her in the studio and very much manipulated.
A Babymetal concert is meant to be, 'out of this world' or 'another world', it's meant to make you forget about your every day struggles in real life and be something completely outside of that. 🙂
While Su can't scream like that, Momo very much can, and she did it recently during her birthday concert (and during the live version of Metali)... I can't wait to watch the proshot 😭😭
