"Tutorial"....Making Fabric Roses.

  • Disclaimer: I am not claiming to have invented this method of making these flowers. I am simply demonstrating how I go about making mine for those who wish to learn how I make fabric roses.
    I use fabric strips about 1 meter long by 10 mm. wide. You can vary the length and width depending the size of rolled rose you want.

    Just found this a few minutes ago. Wish I'd found it sooner! I've been trying to make flowers for my sister's dog grooming business. She puts them on the collars of the dogs after grooming, and I think she'll love these roses.

    I am making my own ball gown for the role of Meg from Little Women; how would i attach these flowers to a dress and do you have a tutorial for leaves as well?

    • @TheTailorsDaughter
      @TheTailorsDaughter  Před rokem

      Hello. The flowers are easily just sewn on. Put the needle through the wrong side of the dress and through to where you want to place the flower so the flower will stay straight up after sewing. No sorry I don’t have a tutorial for leaves. But my suggestion would be to use satin that can be burned on the edges. Cut out leaf shapes and singe the edges with a tea light flame so they don’t unravel. I believe I have a video where I do that to make flowers. Be careful to not burn yourself. Use forceps or large tweezers to hold your leaves. Good luck with your dress and role as Meg. That is awesome. Thanks for watching.

    • @TheTailorsDaughter
      @TheTailorsDaughter  Před 5 lety +1

      Do you mean a 7 inch thick rose? You would need about 7 1/2 inches wide of fabric and the length as long as you wish. I would probably use at least 2 1/2 feet long by 7 1/2 inches wide. Hope this answers your question. Thanks for watching.

    • @TheTailorsDaughter
      @TheTailorsDaughter  Před 6 lety +11

      Hi thanks for your lovely comments. And yes I am certainly and truly the daughter of a tailor (clothing designer). Yes my father trained as a master tailor/artisan in Milan, Italy and created made-to-measure clothing for men and women for about 50 years in both Italy and Canada. He had a huge men's retail store for over 35 years and I worked with him most of that time. So in honor of my wonderful father, my channel and business is named "The Tailor's Daughter" and I'm proud of it!!!!

    Can we use thread instead of glue?

    • @TheTailorsDaughter
      @TheTailorsDaughter  Před 5 lety

      Shaly Joseph Ayalookunnel Yes of course you can use thread but as the flower gets larger it becomes harder to sew it. I find the glue is easy and fast. It does not come apart once the glue is dry.
