Having thought about it, someone like Lampard is perfect for England. He doesn't need to be the best manager at club level. He clearly is intelligent and knows what he is doing tactically. He has loads of time between games to get his team and tactical ideas in place. He handles the media well. Frank Lampard for England really isn't as crazy as it sounds.
With Lampard you would get a better brand of football from England, and that's probably all that is needed to get over the line and win something. Just someone in charge who can get England players playing more progressive football and it doesn't need to be a Guardiola to achieve this.
People look at Lampard through the lens of his club career but at international level he is the perfect type of person you want. Southgate was not successful at club level but managed to get England to 2 finals.
Eddie Howe doesn't suit England at this time, he's a proven club manager and should stay that way until later in the future. Imagine making Howe sit around most of the year with a couple of England games over the year.
Howe needs to develop and become one of the best managers in the Premier League and would be wasted with England.
There isn't anything Howe would do with England that Lampard wouldn't be able to do with the same players.
Howe is a day-to-day manager who wants to be on the training pitch. I don't know why he would take the England job at this time.

Lee Carsley is the best option for England. His tactics and coaching are more modern, he’s already lifted a trophy with the U21’s and is already well versed with the inner workings of St. George’s Park and player development.

I seriously don’t understand why people try and mock the Nations League, it’s the ONLY international competition where the top teams are forced to play other top teams, it’s great. No avoiding anyone like you can in World Cup’s and Euros.
If you wanna win that tournament you’ve gotta compete against the best in a group stage and then beat the best again in the knockout stage. It’s a great concept.
It’s even a great concept for the smallest of nations like San Marino, Gibraltar etc.. Who all compete against teams of their level.
I don’t understand the hate for this competition whatsoever.

International management is very different. You get time to consider and evaluate players, scout opposition, and see the effectiveness or otherwise of various tactical systems in operation at club level. In short, you get to focus on football more than administration. Pressure only comes at big tournaments, not every day like at club level. There are also no financial constraints or expectations and you don’t need to justify having the job day in day out like you do as a club boss when the sack can be just six or so bad games away. Tossing out the experience of Lampard and Gerrard on the basis of their fledgling careers in club management is a luxury England can’t afford with so few English coaches around who can even reasonably aspire to being top level. Personally, I’d take Lampard over Gerrard because he has the edge in overall managerial experience and, of course, the FA probably couldn’t afford to pay for Stevie’s release. No doubt, Potter and Howe are more proven club coaches but have zero experience of any kind internationally. For me, that’s a big hurdle. Maybe it’s horses for courses.

Frank Lampard is an easy win for the FA. Southgate wasn't successful at club level nor was de la Fuente - yet these two men were in the Euro 2024 final. So we can all agree that club success is not necessary at international level.
Lampard is free and well suited to this type of role. Lee Carsley as assistant, and England will definitely be playing better football. A Lampard-Carsley team makes a lot of sense for everyone.

Lampard and Gerrard have written themselves off.
The best players don't necessarily make the best managers.
The obvious names spring to mind that could do both Ancelotti, Beckenbauer and Zidane to name just a few.
Then there are the great players who for the most part have stunk the place out in their managerial careers. Lampard, Gerrard and Rooney.
Then you have great managers who had relatively unknown, uninspiring or not at playing careers such as Mourinho, Outlier and Parreira.
The fact of the matter is England just need the best man for the job!
Gerrard and Lampard need not apply!!
