- Celebrating the 40th Anniversary of Knight Rider! Let's watch an iconic scene from Knight Rider 2000! Michael is furious that KITT has been dismantled and rebuilds KITT's AI unit, which is difficult since Maddock has sold most of KITT's technology to medical research. He reactivates KITT's logic module and installs him in the dashboard of his 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air.

Wow, KITT is an absolute savage, ripping Micheal to shreds like that. 😄
I kinda can't blame him really.
The bantering between Michael and KITT is pure gold
I agree. The chemistry these two have is gold!

Couldn't have said it better! ^^
you mean ..this is ""SOLID GOLD haha!
Fun fact: The builder of the KITT cars from this film, Jay Ohrberg, actually considered adding the old KITT dashboard into the Chevy.
This movie made me feel a great sadness, especially at KITT in pieces, KITT 'drowning' and Devon's death
I really like to pretend that this movie isn't canon at all
It's not canon.
Honestly nothing since the end of series is considered cannon. All the reboots of Knight Rider had ZERO to do with KITT and Michael Knight.
@@fragalot I always thought KR 08 was canon cause it was a sequel to the original that took place in 2008
@@cecwaterbury Yes, but it was bad. Scripts were so cliche every next scene was predictable beforehand, the car looked like it was taken from street tuning meeting, not to mention the choice of base car was terrible from the start. The 04 Mustang was designed after 60s model, so not only it looks retro, but it actually has also pretty bad drag coefficient (0,36 if I remember), while the old Pontiac Firebird KITT was based on, achieved 0.29, which is rarely achieved even today, and the hubcaps and wheel opening spoilers KITT and early Trans Ams used, improved coefficient by 0.01. Glen Larson said he specifically wanted that car. It wasn't like with Ford who pushes his cars into NBC's productions. Pontiac had to be talked to and his CEO was against the idea.
@@cecwaterbury Team Knight Rider from 1997 that consisted of a fleet of KITTs of cars of different kinds (Dodge sports cars, SUVs, 4x4,, and I think motorcycles), but none were trans-ams, and none of of them had talking AI, but they all had the red scanner at the front of each car. The show had some decent action but was otherwise a boring series, and only lasted a season.
KR 2008 felt like it was a show that left off from Team Knight Rider, as if all the other cars were destroyed and only one car remained. But it's not, but it did try to pick up where Michal knight left off. Except in this series the car is a Ford Mustang, this one did have a talking AI but frankly this wasn't very memorable and it lasted one season.
Then there was KR 2010 movie which, i don't remember at all. The synopsis says it's "loosely based on the 80's series but takes place in a apocalyptical future" which I guess is 2010 (LOL) as the movie came out in 1994. I ought to watch this for a laugh, cuz I either never watched it or it was so bad i just don't remember it. IMDB gives it 2.9/10 rating.
Around this time there was another series called Viper (94-99), which was about a Dodge Viper that was a much better show (cooler looking car), but all the car did was "morph" into a super card to drive faster, it had no AI or anything like KITT. Viper lasted 4 seasons and was a better than all the past attempts at a new Knight Rider, but nothing was as good as the original 80's series, despite it's campy cheese.. but hey that was the 80s.
I really needed this!😂 "PLEASE somebody beam me up!"
I've always had a soft spot for this movie. It's an interesting look at a spinoff that could have been. I really enjoy KITT's grumpy attitude in this one, not to mention that this is the only one of the Knight Rider spinoffs that actually has the original Michael and KITT in it.
the 2008 night rider was pretty good
A Knight Rider-Star Trek crossover, just what I need!
Scotty!!....LMAO!!
Hmmm as a kid my level of unimpressedness at there not been KITT (i.e. a black trans am) in the entire film was high...it still is
It was dreadful not to have the trans am...just not the same.
@@PeterSatera Could have at least subbed a camaro in...

@@gameoverland3361 As I understand it KITT was a Trans Am but there were some Firebirds used in the show as well because..they pretty much look the same..

Wow, a 1957 Chevy Bel Air. One of the most iconic classic cars in American history. What a beauty. 😍😍😍😍
Honestly, because the Chevy Bel-Air is my favorite car. I love this being K.I.T.Ts new body is honestly so cool
It was a heck of a LOT better than that Studebaker!!👍
The thing that gets me, is how good michael is with a soldering iron, he always left kitt's repairs to bonnie, Also in the film you never hear what came of Her, or RC3. Just a shame we never got anything about them, plus this must have been filmed on a fraction of the budget compared to the original series, not much stunts etc,
Your comment genuinely made me laugh as I was just remarking to my son how Michael isn't really soldering anything with that technique (I know, as soldering is a large part of my job) - I get what you mean 100% though in terms of the narrative of the story. My comment makes me sound pedantic but it's not intended that way. Your comment gave me a good lol. Thank you.
Michael got KITT out of desert after Goliath knocked him on his passenger side.
@@alanbenson1505 yeah i get what you ment pal,
@@williammitchell4417 oh yeah, but if you remember he had to get the main manual, which you don't see here. he states its like Greak to me,
@@procta2343 Greak could have been a joke, but the scene was stupid, because he supposedly build a ramjet, and ramjet doesn't work at subsonic speeds and doesn't have a propeller shaft to power the wheels, not to mention reasons he couldn't have done that.
It would have been better if they had some engineer for a consultant, and instead stated that throttle controller got messed. I'd actually like to see that episode redubbed to get rid of that ramjet nonsense.
One of the best parts of the TV-movie, and an unexpected surprise. A fun part is both shows were shown on NBC. This was released the same year as Star Trek VI.
3:42 KITT wants his old chip back.
I haven't seen this movie since it originally aired but I still clearly remember this scene and being surprised at seeing Scotty show up. And naturally I focused on the line of "All 10 Star Trek films".
The aftermath of scent of roses.
Actually, overall concept of 'Knight Rider 2000' is pretty cool. With a bigger budget, different and descent script (even with the same base themes) and some cool stunts it could be a really awesome movie.
James Doohan, I almost got to see him, He was working in NewYork on the top floor of the Empire State, but sadly he passed away 1 year after I visited,
Loved the 80s tv programs,
What year was he working on the top of the Empire State Buiding?
@@bryansillman3240 Hi, my first trip to NewYork from London was in 2006, I believe James only worked at the Empire State for 2/3 days a week as concierge/host man, I didn’t know he worked there until I heard it twice on the radio, but I was too late, I can imagine he was a fun happy guy to meet, and happy to sign or take photos, CZcams is a world of knowledge, maybe something on here about him at Empire State👍🏻
Even KITT sounds older, very clever
I remember as a child when this came out on TV, I was so excited, and to see the new generation of KITT was absolutely awesome.
I forgotten James Doohan was in this movie. So many Star Trek actors/actresses had been in KR but this one was welcomingly blatant
Not K.I.T.T. being THE MOST SAVAGE he's ever been...
I remember in one episode in Season 1 (I believe), Michael DID mention a ‘56 Chevy, so having it here makes sense. Like a throwback.
It was great seeing this three back together
Wonderful - thank you.
"all ten movies"... well, we got him in 7, so that isn't THAT bad a guess when you think about it. plus the wonderful "Relics" episode of TNG aired a year after this did.
Wish it had been 10
Poor James Doohan, K.I.T.T. hit him so hard he went into character. Someone get William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy and DeForest Kelley to take him to sick bay.
Happy 40th anniversary
I own this movie on dvd always nice to revisit this from time to time
That scene is missing Eric Matthews yelling “FEEENY!!!!”.😂
awesome stuff, KITT in a legendary USA vehicle
As a trekki, this was just too good👍

Michael: There are no more drive-ins.
Me: I beg to differ. There’s still one in Palatine Bridge, NY, and it’s STILL operational to this day.
That is true. I know there are at least a few left. Hathaways, twin, Hollywood, Jericho, those are a few I can name off the top of my head that are local to me (I also live in New York too).
y'all hear KITT, I hear Mr. Feeny. God he's so old now. I can't bear to hear the inevitable.
Great Scotty. from star trek
*I had completely forgotten about James Doohan making a cameo appearance in this movie until I saw this clip!*
Although KITT is AI he had a right to say what happened to him
I watched this countless times. I still couldn't believe Kitt was a 57 Chevy for a short while

Ah I missed Kitt and his old Trans Am body when this came out.
It couldn’t have been worse than the 2008 revival.
It wasn't bad as a movie, but it suffered from poor choice of cars, lack of stunts and logical flaws, (although the last wasn't worse than usual old Knight Rider problems).
@@piotrmalewski8178 i think this was made on the cheap.
@@procta2343 Probably. Two other things that come to my mind I had a problem with is that the movie has a very Robocop 1 like opening, with suggestively creepy robotized brain surgery.
Which leads me to another point. Apparently, they were going to make KITT more like human (and unreliable) person, as he keeps making errors and it's explained that he's missing some special chip they can't find compatible replacement for, and they can't recover the original, because it was used to replace a destroyed part of new lead character's brain.
@@piotrmalewski8178 yeah a lot of things were wrong with the plot, they could have gone on from one of the episodes in the series, and brought the two back again, to help the new lead Character out, while the Four Thousand is still, been built and tested. , Deven dies peacefully and leaves KITT to Michael in his Will. That would have worked, and it would have handed the Knight Rider story over, and maybe kept it going into the early 2000s. But the replacement car should have been the three thousand, rather than the four thousand. Then have the Series that rebooted it all, take over from this, which would introduce Michael's son and a new car. Bit like star trek Next generation, handing over to DS9 and then DS9 onto voyager.
As bad as The mustang show was, it was much better than this movie.
wow nice
went from speedy and cool to old and dumb. perfect
I never knew there was a knight Rider 2000.
That title made me jump out of my skin for a second.
TEN movies? Dang, that was an alternate timeline with some serious perks!
let's see after ST 1-6 original, there was TNG movies of 7-10 which places this timeline about 2013 (although this movie came out in 1990). Makes sense when you consider the Knight Rider 2.0 with the Knight 3000 is set in the 1990's before the Knight 4000 was built in 2001-2010
As I've mentioned before, KITT in the Chevy was a lot of fun, but watching Devon die was not.
I enjoyed this film a great deal, but I can see why it ultimately failed; KNIGHT RIDER only works when you pair Hoff' with (proper) KITT. And NONE of the attempted revivals secured both of those VITAL elements. Even this film had KITT leave with Shawn at the end, breaking up television's other great Dynamic Duo!
I wish they'd launched a new series based on this movie, but sadly it was not to be.
I don't think it would have worked, without David Hasselhoff been the star of the show. Another reason why the reboot may have failed too.
@@procta2343 supposedly he was on-board continuing the show if they made him executive producer but they said no and they tried to do a series based off this movie and only did one episode and it flopped which more than likely brought on Team Knight Rider
Não tem como...e' nos anos 80 e acabou. 😎
I think the foundation for law and government should have given Michael’s job to RC3

Look's like not bad at all Kitt, your new body. But like the old Kitt's body
Agreed. Nothing beats the original.
And that is how the concept for Disney's cars was born.
thats what i love the movie. kitt dont always have to be in the t-top. when i play video games that have driving in them and most of the time they dont have the 1982 firebird. ether i pretent kitt is ether the 1970 firebird or the mustang.
I really never understood the point of Michael really doing this. Devon could of got a team together to rebuild KITT is some form or manner. Even a story where with the current technology leads to constructing the Knight 4000 with KITT as the AI for the vehicle.
I think the point was that, by the TV movie's fictional version of 2000, Devon was basically out of a position of power at Knight Industries or FLAG (or both). He couldn't requisition or spend money and resources to build KITT a replacement body because the guy giving Michael and KITT grief here was the one holding the purse strings and keeping FLAG going on as more than a think-tank (Devon says here that all the research in the world isn't worth anything if it never gets used).
When Devon died, I was done with this movie
Most understandable. He was there when FLAG began and was a true believer in Wilton‘s dream. Although stodgy from time to time, he truly was a friend to Michael, KITT, Bonnie, April, and RCIII.
@@calhoun24 Shame we never got to know what happened to them in this movie at all, I know the actress who played Bonnie, retired from acting when this was filmed, but they could have brought back April though and kept RC3 in this.
otro pisolio coche fantástico
Mr Feeny is back!
I think the best part was when KITT was put into the other car.
Nothing beats the OG!
William Daniels killed it as kitt
They hurt Scotty!
Ok, somebody messed up. There were only 6 movies with James Doohan and the original Star Trek cast, not ten. Then he, Shatner and Walter Koenig went on to do one more movie, but that wasn't for another 3 years
People forget that this movie is set in the year 2001-2003 so it makes sense that they were thinking about more movies by that time and they were correct, but not the original series.
0:48 on the right side is that the eyeball unseen from the tv series after?
個人的には、この作品ももっと高い評価受けでも良い気がします。
I wish Data and KITT can partner up.
I think KITT would hate Data. KITT was always on the emotional side, while Data was purely logical. All I can think of that the two would get into endless and meaningless debates ad infinite.
Lol Christine finally has a husband to marry 😂
Funny thing is, that it actually turned out to be 10 "Trek"-Movies (in that Universe), albeit 4 being with the TNG-Crew.
Knight rider: the game 2 . . .
James Doohan played Scotty in the original 7 Movies from Star Trek The Motion Picture to Star Trek Generations. Not 10.
He made only one appearance in one of the ST TNG Episodes called "Relics". But, I guess this is how the script was made for that 2-hour movie.
It's ironic that Maddock predicted how many Star Trek movies (not counting the JarJar Abrams dreck) were to be made in 1991
Oh my goodness what Was Scotty doing in Knight Rider Movie lol

Batman and Alfred?🤔
I don't remember KITT being that pissy in the original show.
Pretty sure it is because KITT sometimes had the fear of being well ditched so that can explain it
KITT was always snarky, although yes, they kicked it up just a little bit here.
i often wondered if KITT had software and hardware upgrades, which gave him the pissy attitude, basically made him more human, than computer.
He had more than ten years to brood and get salty
KITT in the original series was snarky but it was more of a "I'm paired with a savage" kind of exasperation that you get in buddy cop movies and shows where one cop is rule-abiding and can't handle going rogue like his crazy partner does.
KITT here spent a decade basically in solitude after getting mothballed when Michael left FLAG, then disassembled and the majority of his parts recycled or sold off (this clip's accidental tasering of James Doohan is blamed on a critical computer chip being sold off and used as part of a lifesaving procedure done on ex-police officer and new Knight Rider Shawn McCormick after she was shot in the head while on duty). So yeah...he had like 5-6 years more than the series showed us of developing a personality and a decade of solitary confinement for that personality to become jaded and sour because his best friend seemingly abandoned him for a decade.
