- KITT is back! Knight Rider 2000! K.I.T.T. is able to link up with the chip through physical contact and he is able to extract her missing memories. Shawn now remembers that Watts is the one who shot her and her fellow officers were with him when he did it - including her partner whom she had trusted implicitly.

Despite the many flaws with Knight Rider 2000, the one thing I do adore from this movie is Jan Hammer’s music score, the guy can do no wrong 👍
Yeah the new theme song worked well for sure. Back in 1991 I only had my memory to replay the original 1982 song in my head since I had no recordings. But I rememer deciding back then that the theme was "as good"

I enjoy the music in this scene. When KITT is restoring Shawn's memory.
I know this movie gets a lot of hate but to me personally I think it’s underrated. HOWEVER. I do think they shoulda brought back the Knight 2000 just for one last ride. The systems are outdated and the exterior shell is losing its molecular bonded shell without a mechanic like Bonnie so they shoulda had one last outing. Maybe even on the verge of destruction, we got close to the whole car being destroyed but the day was saved and the 2000 was revived by the end.
Sorry part 2...;#1 they wanted it out before everyone FORGOT Knight Rider #2 before Edward really died.
The biggest problem with this movie was the fact that it was RUSHED. They had to shove it onto the screen before #1

@@feb196940 I totally agree. When this was filmed in 1991, Universal couldn't get a deal with GM. The 91 and 92 body style was still the same.
Why could they not make a deal?
For me i love any and every knight rider product either its original tv show series , films , anything.....im an old fan of this production since i was kid...
The only thing about the movie I hated was Devon's death he was one of my faves from the show

Not strictly true, in the TV series Devon Miles override Michael's decisions a few times with KITT.. In fact I think in one episode Bonnie actually did it too.
@@JustAGameShow Also, there were times KITT went against Michael's wishes but in those instances his systems were hacked by a bad guy.
I get why people hated Knight Rider 2000 but personally i loved it, Everything from the soundtrack to where Devon, Michael and KITT ended up after the original series ended. Obviously killing Devon was a catastrophic mistake and the Knight 4000 was questionable. If it was black and a more techy dashboard it would off been ok as i get they wanted to design a car of the future. KITT felt so Human now after all the years at FLAG and his (temporary) death was perfect sacrificing himself to save Michael and Shawn. Still will never beat the original series as it was Perfect!

Agreed. The movie wasn't bad, but could have been really good had they only had Devon go into a coma or something rather than die, and used the old Trans Am at least in place of the chevy bel air. And better still then replace the 4000 with a new KITT made from the newly facelifted 1991 Firebird Trans Am (or Formula since the 1991 T/A didn't have the power bulge hood anymore)
It was far from perfect after Season 1. That first year was flawless.

They Definitely Should Have This Movie in movie theaters

Poor Shawn, the same thing happened as Michael when he was Michael Long. who were betrayed by the police.
Michael Long wasn't betrayed by Police. He was shot by female executive and left for dead on roadway.

Giving it a fair shake, this movie actually wasn't bad. My biggest problem back then was not using the Trans Am, which was plainly a cheap cop-out poor decision since Universal still had several available from the series and Pontiac was STILL making 3rd gen Firebirds no less. That one factor cast a shadow over the entire show, even though it had a good story. They could have had the old KITT take the plunge in the water (like the Chevy did) and then rebuild him back as the newly facelifted Formula or Trans Am 1991 model. Then continued on with an awesome show.
I think Universal never wanted KITT to be close to his old form, due to some disagreement between Glen Larson. Don't remember precisely why.
Love the old San Antonio from the 90s… riverwalk, the botanical gardens, etc…

I could never get over the fact that they couldn't get the old Kitt car from the original to make at least some sort of final cameo. I never really liked the new car, it is just as bad as when they gave that ridiculous look with SPM (Super Pursuit Mode) in the 4th season (which killed the show originally). I think a similar thing happened here plus it was a weak story. Also I don't think people for ready for the Hoff to pass the mantle on to Newbie.

Knight rider 2000 is after team knight rider and knight rider 1984.
no cause team knight rider was made a couple years after this film was made as it was the second time they trided to bring knight rider back in a similar yet different way as the original show and then tried again in 2008 which started out as a continuation of the original show with the pilot movie before being turned full reboot when the series was green lit for 22 episodes then part way through production decided tut it down to 17 then chose to cancel it after 17
The Chevy does look good. But I noticed it didn't move in this scene. Is that a production limit? Does the car actually drive?
The one thing that bugged me about this scene was that kitt was supposed to Michael's car right? Then why is he taking orders from Shawn? Is she the new driver,?
Or is it because she has the chip in her brain?

I really wish they had continued the knight rider franchise after knight rider 2000. I think David was ready to come back to the role and so was William Daniels. This movie got a lot of hate.
He was ready to do more seasons of the original show. But the quality fell steeply in Season 3.
But why did assistant director skinner shoot her?
She was getting to close to knowing handguns were comming back on tve streets the police was currupted by Tommy Watts since he was a ex police detective.
