It was a touching end and a proper ending for the Loki story. He’s finally grown into the man he wanted to be, and deserves what he always wanted. He made the hard choice and I love him for it.

Loki became the most powerful being and ascended to the ultimate throne - but not because he wanted to. "The last thing I want is a throne". But it was the last option to save his loved ones and trillions of souls, despite his fear of being alone. If that's not the most selfless act ever idk what is. He chose the heaviest burden and made the ultimate sacrifice.

I wish they could have gotten Anthony Hopkins to whisper something as Odin when it faded to black right before the credits. Something like "I'm proud of you my son." Or even just recycled when Odin was telling the boys as children that both were born to be king but only one would ascend to the throne. Let me put it this way Loki turned the Loom into the Ygdrassil at For All Time. So Loki’s creation became reality since the beginning of time.
So when the Ancient Asgard study the Multiverse they understand it as tree when Odin eventually teaches it to children Loki and Thor. Odin is actually teaching them Loki’s creation.
To further blow your mind, everything that happens in the MCU happens through Ygdrassil that Loki can control. So every humiliation, defeat, beatdown that happens to every Loki in the multiverse happens because Loki wills it.

To a degree, "He Who Remains" mentored Loki on his new responsibilities after Loki was astonished that "He Who Remains" was aware of Loki's new time-slipping abilities. Loki also went back in time to learn and master the engineering applications of time and space from Victor timely and Ouroboros - especially from Ouroboros as he was able to develop Victor Timely's inventions. In addition, Ouroboros was extremely open-minded to Loki's surprise when he time-slipped to his reality when explaining to Ouroboros why he spontaneously appeared in front of him. Other than Loki and "He Who Remains," Ouroboros was the next coolest character introduced in the series. Great Disney + series! I hope for one more season.

what this finale reminds me more of is the mythical version of loki's demise, whereby he was sentenced by odin to eternity under the roots of yggdrasil for the death of baldur, binded by baldurs entrails and with a snake holding a root of yggdrasil close to loki's eyes, with caustic venom dripping into his eyes. he would spend eternity having all of his vast magical power and life force drained out of him by the roots of the world tree to spew forth new life from its branches. and his only solace was that of his loyal wife sigyn visiting him regularly to feed him, keep him company, and alleviate his suffering with a bowl to catch the venom, at least until she had to pour out its contents.
now back to the MCU loki, this actually isnt the strongest we'll see of loki, since odin changed loki's existence into an asgardian it means that as loki becomes older he also becomes exponentially stronger, and since he now resides in a place outside the boundaries of time he will quite literally spend all of eternity becoming stronger and stronger as he fights to maintain the weaves of his world tree yggdrasil. but is this last we'll see of him? maybe, maybe not. there is one possibility that he cant leave the end of time anymore since doing so will unravel the world tree, but remember that this is loki we're talking about. he could conjure any number of things to reinforce the world tree, from another asgard with all of its omnipotence, to one of his children Jormungandr (the world serpent), to even Odin himself. he'll eventually come to a point where his illusion magic stops becoming illusions and starts becoming reality.

Loki becoming the World Tree was exactly as HWR wanted, and Miss Minutes heard HWR say "I Love This" speaking to his wrist AI, "All This Honesty".
Loki is still on the path to have the Sacred Timeline recreated as it must be. Every move Loki tried was to develop the chess board till he followed what HWR wanted, To destroy the Loom and start the cycle over exactly as it started. Miss Minutes saw to that.

So it’s like what’s the point, unless they come up with some bs excuse as to how he’s suddenly immortal now? Unless I’m just being slow and there is actually a way.

  • @JacobHJones
    @JacobHJones Před 4 měsíci

Let this blow your mind. Loki know HWR’s plan to isolate a single strand of timelines that only lead to his version of Kang. Loki on the other hand, lets all timelines live by creating the tree of life and holds them together. If you cut the roots of any tree (the forming new branches that eventually go up the tree and become set timelines), you will kill the whole tree eventually. To me, this sounds a lot like what HWR does, all but 1 root (the sacred timeline). So, I think Loki will have to leave the center of the tree at some point and since he knows HWR has a solid, yet imperfect plan, he lets him take it back over knowing he will eventually loop back to create the tree again and so on and so on. The loop of the multiverse continues. But after leaving the tree Loki loses knowledge of the tree and HWR. Keeps his time slipping abilities but only on the sacred timeline and can rewrite his story if he wants to but he never will. He will accept everything that’s happened and will happen, MUST happen to preserve all of reality, “for all time, ALWAYS”

In myth a god has whatever power serves their story and their purpose to the society imagining them. They aren't really concretely quantifiable or they wouldn't be gods. Loki, now taking the role of god of stories, doesn't necessarily need "powers". He holds together the timelines allowing people to continue their own stories across the universe, that's now his role. It doesn't make him "stronger" than other characters, or "more powerful", anymore than earthworms, which are vital to the growth of plants, are more powerful than birds that get up early.
While I think Loki is a great character in the MCU, I do hope this is a conclusion for him. It was an amazing arc and Hiddleston was brilliant portraying him. It's a mythic ending. To continue it, I feel, would render all this meaningless.

His contract is concluded. There's no more Loki in the future as it is now, doesn't mean there won't be.
This is their way of writing off Loki moving forward without him dying, having a far better fate than he had in Infinity Wars... But now that he's entwined with all timelines, is he destined to stay there smiling infinitely?
He could!! And if they never manage to write up a new contract with Tom H, that's how Loki's story ends!
But, they could come to an agreement behind the scenes, write up more details and continue Loki's story as well... There's a third option... in Loki's position now, they could recast him moving forward, and have him displayed in the future as an older, wiser, godlike appearance, like Gandalf the White kind of a maturity, and then continue Loki's story as an older, wiser godlike being!

    • @Ashfer2

He also just said in an interview that he never knows when Loki's character ends because he died twice and wrote letters to them thanking them for allowing him to be a part of everything, and then he came back again. So he's not done with the character, it just depends on whether they write any more stories or anything with him. He doesn't need a contract for that. Plus now with the multiverse he could come back as any different Loki variant as well.
