As you can tell by the beard this was recorded over a month ago. I just got the block released and today ironically is the day I learned how my friends passed. So tragic 😢
You cannot beat the writer of a song when you want emotion in a song... Especially when it's a Leonard Cohen song. He's a poet and there are so many layers and emotions in his lyrics. This London concert is one of the finest... I have it on DVD... The man was just glorious to have around.
Hi Squirrel, there is something about hearing a song performed by the original composer. The raw emotion is so powerful. I fully understand how this makes you think of friends you have lost. RIP to your friends! God Bless Squirrel 🙏 🐿🏴
OMG!! I’m so sorry to hear of the lost of your friends. 😢🙏
I love this song, squirrel.... and thanks for watching the 'Not suitable for children' sketch from The Umbilical Brothers.
At last! I keep telling people that the ''pretty'' versions may be great but nothing beats the original. It's a whole different ballgame. Thanks for playing it.
I totally agree!
One of my favourite songs of all time, you should give his song Suzanne a listen too.
Sorry you lost friends. A song that asks why is a good tribute. Better days
Leonard Cohen is masterful. Great tonal variations and proves you don't have to belt out a song to get the message, across. Sorry to hear the sad news of your friends. Look after yourself...
😭😭😭😭 thank you squirrel.
You can't beat the original version of this classic song still a very powerful performance after all these years 👍
What a great song it was sung so beautifully thanks squirrel 🐿️😃💜😺✨
Happy Friday sir.
my favorite version!!
1:02 fun fact: that's vincent vega on the drums
I'm sorry you lost your friends. In a way it was a beautiful, peaceful way for them to go. Now they'll be together forever. It's the ones who are left behind who feel the hurt so I hope your family give you a big cuddle and hold you tight.
He sounds much better when he was younger but Another great version of this song is by Alexandra Burke 👍❤️🇬🇧
I'll have to disagree on that one. There was certainly a tonal shift in his voice but I just can't imagine some of his later works working in his younger voice. Hallelujah in particular is one song that I think he did better and better with each rendition. The album version on Various Positions is probably the weakest version for me.
