As someone who plays heavily with this pack I think they missed a lot of opportunities to expand on this pack. For instance, I think singing and dancing(not party dancing like in get together but choreographed dance should've came with this pack instead of city living and their should've been an option to be a singer or form a band. Could've allowed us to be a dancer to. The pack is get famous and the only ways you can get famous are being an actor, influencer, painter or author(which is base game) and that's it if you don't have any other packs. I really think they could've expanded more on the ways people get famous which is why I think singing and dancing should've been apart of this pack. One of the biggest let downs were the fans. I wish they allowed your sims to become stans of celebrities. It would've been cool to have a stan interaction sadly it wasn't implemented.The award shows are a buggy mess nobody stays sitting and sims will resort to sitting on the floor instead of sitting in an empty seat. Sims also tend to change seats. Other than that the award shows look so empty and more like a get together. I guess It makes sense considering the award show would be atrocious with so many sims not sitting down, but then again in this same pack they have the actor building with many more sims and it works fine. A big problem I have with this pack though is the celebrities showing up everywhere. Judith Ward is the worst offender where she will literally show up to willow creek. I wish they made it so that celebrities were more likely to stay in del sol valley. Overall, not the worst sims pack by any means. I even occasionally enjoy playing with it, but it definitely showcases it's weakness when I'm trying to tell a story and I can't because they couldn't bother to implement it in the game. It should not take me having 3 expansion packs to make an idol group.
I'm so glad we have apartments now. I always thought one of my biggest gripes was we couldn't be a struggling actor inside a shitty apartment in the more urban portion (Del Sol SHOULD HAVE had an actual skyscraper area). I wish this one brought back stuff like Dive Bars/Sports Bars/etc. Like we had in the Sims 3. I feel like Get Famous and City Living should have been Sims 3 Late Night but with more in-depth of the two systems rather than just a poorer version. Other celebrities aren't as fun, I hate seeing random celebrities in public and hate how the extra celebrities they added like Britany Cho or whoever have no home or whatever. Just feels like they never take it far enough.
I think you could technically become famous through other means (networking, photography etc) but you definately covered the main bases.
Totally with you though, Get Famous is such a missed oppurtunity! Terrible world, sparce build buy themes and celebritiy NPCs essentially break the game!
My personal problem is that they put too much focus on the Film Career being active when in reality active careers in Sims 4 are just boring and repetitive. I suspect the elaborate film sets were made so Simmers could create these glam set pieces which makes the game look deeper than it actually is (see the official trailer, which virtually nothing represents the actual gameplay in game.) If they had focused on the idea of keeping getting Famous open and focused more on the glamour of being famous is I think it would have made a strong pack.

I wanted modelling as well. I remember playing that in the The Sims: Superstar and it was a lot of fun. But I suppose they had a watered down version of it in Moschino stuff.

A couple of my own wishlist items for this particular pack:
- The ability for the "regulars" to remember your Sim *used* to be famous, and you get recognized maybe 1 out of 5 times you're wandering around or so (allow players to set their own recognition metrics - 1 out of 5 may feel excessive to some, depending on which world they are playing in)
- A Sim's mood about becoming more famous/decreasing fame should be directly tied into personality traits. IE: If you have the 'loner,' 'socially awkward,' 'paranoid,' 'cringe,' etc. trait - your Sim perhaps becomes sad with each fame increase, dreams of the day when they won't be famous anymore, and is *relieved* when their fame level drops. If your Sim is an 'insider' or 'snobby' or 'materialistic' etc. they dream of becoming famous and get overjoyed as they climb the fame levels, and saddened when fame drops.
Del sol valet is the biggest map letdown. LA is so densely populated and they chose to give us 4 lots, the majority of which are mansions/beverly hills
yep. that one area where venessa jeong lives feels like some parts of LA, away from downtown, and is honestly the only viable location for most sims to move into (ones who arent famous yet). even if you bulldoze the proper "downtown" area near the starlight blvd and move sims there, it doesn't have the right vibe and that area is super laggy for some reason so it's annoying to live there. i tend to consider san myshuno the equivalent of downtown LA in my game, lol. which is from another pack altogether, way older, back when they put more effort into the game.
You hit the nail on the head with the "hot spot" location traits. Like what is the point of them if celebrities like Judith Ward and Britani Choi are just going to show up to random "nowhere" bars and nightclubs, where they cause everything to stop which is super annoying. My sims trying to dance the night away, but can't because the DJ has stopped performing to stare at Judith.

I remember in Sims 1 when if you got too famous you’d acquire a stalker and there was no way to ever get rid of them. 😂😢😬
You got rid of him by befriending more non famous people
I just bought this pack on sale, and I must say.. its the first time since the Sims 2 I wanted to play all day. I really love the gameplay in this one. Of course, it could be better. But all in all, I genuinely enjoy it.
Such a fun expansion idea poorly executed, love your honest take on it! I always think it's hilarious when you point out that they forget something essential to the gameplay like toilets on a lot or another video had steps leading up without a door. It's crazy that a game like this with such a massive company makes these mistakes. I don't think it's nostalgia but wow growing up with the sims 1, 2 and 3 is so eye opening to how this series is in a disarray. I like the art style but gameplay in the other entries had so much more personality

It's not that most people hate it, it's we see how it could have been better.

I know, that should have been an expansion or pack but EA doesn't want to have anything that isn't PG.
When I'm doing a rags to riches challenge I love running into celebrities anywhere because I can get their autograph and be able to eat that night LOL.
I spend a lot of time with this pack and yeah it could have more careers like director, photographer, actor, model, fashion designer, stylist, singer, make up artist, dancer, music group or band…I think we could have more careers could be cool. But well the world could be better but I like it. Is so extra some parts of this expansion and also loooove the fur fashion parts
Get famous is one of my favorite packs but its not worth the price. Its like a very good game pack but doesnt warrant an expansion.
For that we would need:
- actual gossip and scandals (also gossip magazines would be nice)
- more active careers (modeling, singer/performer).
thats why i only buy sims packs when they’re on sale also the cas really disappointed me

Even though Del Sol Valley SUCKS as a town, Get Famous is one of my favorite packs. Lol It came with so much gameplay and the build items are so much fun! I always get my sims to marry Thorne or Dirk 😂❤️
how do you get this to happen w/o playing as the celebrities first? cus when why sims interact with celebs it won’t let them actually become friends with them, only get their autographs etc.
I either get them to become enough of a celebrity to get them to talk to them or I think once you get your charisma to a certain point you can. I’m not 100 percent sure though.
@@iomari1771what i recently learned is if you ask for a selfie and an autograph and both sims are in good moods, if you then attempt an introduction they can become friends. Ever since i discovered this i’ve been doing it since, my sim dated a high rank celeb and she wasn’t famous!
I play get famous quite a bit, it’s lacking in all aspects but city living + get famous with a lil realm of magic for spells and potions is the perfect combo.
I lost it at “The sims 4 lacks any ambition, love and care.“ 💀🤣

This is actually one of my favorite EPs, up there with Get to Work.
Running a shop as a celebrity I felt brought in more customers 😅 And I tend to use the build/buy alot (except all the stupid movie set props, things along that line)
But I would say this pack is still pretty bare bones in comparison to Sims 1 Superstar (also a fav of mine)
I would honestly recommend the mod Road to Fame alongside with Get Famous if you're on PC! Made being a celebrity more fun imo
I know its an unpopular opinion but i actually love the cheaper neighborhood in del sol valley because ive lived in California my whole life and that is the only neighborhood in the game that truly reflects my real life neighborhood. Like theres a big alley behind the houses, theres some trash around, the shell houses have like trailers and sailboats or whatever in their backyards, the road and sidewalk looks kinda busted, it all truly makes me feel at home because those are such familiar sights to me. The weather is also accurate to my town since it doesnt snow and its usually pretty warm. So for those reasons, i do have my sims live there but the rest of the world is meh. The mansions area is nice looking but the premade builds have to be demolished ✋

What a pity that Sims 2, which I still play to this day, didn't have a pack for fame and entertainment industry like other 3 series, or its diversity and depth of gaming would definitely overwhelm Sims 4 again
The sims 2 would be the best if they upgraded the graphics but I understand where your coming from, it seems as EA puts out each new sims series, they lose something in gameplay and fun, so the pretty graphics and CAS features mean nothing.

I know this sounds weird and too ambitious for sims 4 but my dream pack epuld be a northen british pack like leeds/newcastle. And have some flats, then gangs and a corner shop. And a new occpupt like a torry or something that you become if you get a certain amount of money and disrespect the working class.

Music Mixer station is my favorite, it's quite deep in my opinion. you can turn on and off an specific instrumentals like drum sound, organ or Bass it's quite like a small mini gameplay to mix a real song. You can also let your sims play a music that you did at a DJ player in night club, or even open it from radio in community lots, that can make your sims more famous too. I think it's fun to I see others sims dance with a music I mix in a game, and if you have a high Media production still you can mix more genre too.
I agree, this world is too small and the community lots are horrid, it requires you to bulldoze most everything and start from scratch.

Get Famous is so fun i think it could’ve benefited from more careers like producer or director but what can you do
If your Sim complete the International Star aspiration and get the «Unforgettable» trait, any book, music, app, game and videos published will generate an income for MUCH longer.
There is a perk that allow your Sim to bypass auditions and do the performance while wearing whatever they want. Even nothing.
The emotional blogs take the emotion of the Sim at the END of the recording. So, if the mood of the Sim change at the last second of the recording, then, that's the mood of the blog. That's frustrating.
You gain fame for using the Sim Ray to transform random objects anywhere. You a
also gain fame for using it to influence the mind of other Sims, or use the Satellite Antenna to influence the neighbourhood.

The trailer was SO good compared to the actual gameplay. I don’t hate this pack, but it was so disappointing after a bit of time playing.
I like the pack but I do agree with you on the whole celebrity thing, and cross pack playability. Would be nice if you could get famous by running a food stand from For Rent/Home Chef Hustle or by being a chef in Dine Out. Overall though it's a good pack and i do use it a lot in gameplay. The build/buy and CAS isn't for me though I do use the vault everywhere to.
i actually adore the cas because I can create characters of different types and since I build in elegant, classical way, the building mode is fine with me. Overall it's quite good for the sims 4 and I enjoy it a lot thanks to the cross pack experience
I only use this for the CAS. Plenty of Victorian Goth stuff and pirate-themed stuff here. Also the quirk system is good for RP'ing an alcoholic. Everything else sucks. The celebrity system sucks. Celebs always disrupt public social interactions when they're in a venue.

Recently went back to the sims 3 cause 4 (with all the packs) got boring but get famous was probably my favorite pack even though yes it’s not as good as sims 3

I also don´t get why the Team already included "celebritiy" careers like the entertainer career in the basegame when back then you couldn´t be famous. And the career only has two branches, musician and comedian. I think they never should´ve included the entertainer career in the base game (and social media career in City Living). Instead for "Get Famous" they should´ve given us these careers:
Actor
Singer (you can use your music genre and need to imrpove your singing skill to get promoted, the singing skill comes with Get Famous and not City Living)
Musician (you can even choose your music genre)
Band (more a slef employed career like in Sims 3)
Model
Fashion Designer
Comedian
Social Media/Influencer (self employed career like in Sims 3, you can choose what kidn of chanel you want and you can stream)
Drag King/Queen
I started a new game with my sim being a global star. I do love playing the parts in the studios. 😅

I would say that’s is pretty good pack in comparison with the last few EP, and has much more gameplay that Horse Ranch or For Rent

I tore down every single building except the up and coming bar and the museum. Everything else is gone because they didn’t feel right in that town.
I had such high hopes for this pack but it was executed so poorly. The world is so frustratingly built; from the incomplete builds to the oversized lot in the working class neighborhood and useless set dressing. The lack of a beachfront area adds to the frustration. Gameplay is okay, but there’s a lot of missed potential, such as a fleshed out music career where you record songs and albums, perform shows, and go on tour. Or even being a director where you can set up your own scenes to make a movie.
THIS. As bad as the lots are, I feel like the world itself would have been okay if they'd included a 5-lot beachfront neighborhood with a swimmable and surf-able beach. The 3-lot celebrity neighborhood is one of my favorite places to build, and unlike anything else the game has.
One more glitch is celebrity shine disappears on random games and you will have to click turn off shine and then click turn shine on again for playing on the lot and every time your sim travels, which gets very annoying if you want your sim to hold their shine.
Sims 3: Massive city with plenty of celebrity night clubs, but Sims will not turn up on the lots ever.
Sims 4: Literally nothing for celebrities, but Sims will randomly overpopulate every lot you go to.
I wish they refreshed this pack

Sims 1’s Superstar was my favorite pack back in the day. Sad that to replicate it in Sims 4, I need to get ‘Get Famous’, ‘Spa Day’, and ‘Vintage Glamour Stuff’. Possibly even a few more stuff/cas packs…

This is the whole sims 4 I got legally. I like the celebrity stuff and the view of the city from the mansions but that’s about it
I honestly hope you can make like a p°rńo with the wicked whims mod and use the drone. I’d honestly use that for college and my woohooing every sim in every world While I use the drone to record it. I’d earn fame and money, I’d also only have to basically be don lothario and my own sim and be a home wrecker. I wonder if the vampires pack would help so I could influence the sims into watching it

I hate the celebrity interaction so much with family / in laws. My main sim is a famous celebrity and I went and played the in law family so I could invite them over for dinner and none of them could talk to her lmao. All attempts at introduction failed even though that’s not even supposed to be her personality type to do that.
And then her younger brother got married and during the wedding his husband couldn’t even introduce himself to her lmao and his husband’s brother fainted when she showed up 😭
I ended up cheating their relationships just to have normal family interactions.
Oh and not to mention the damn paparazzis being everywhere and so randomly picked. One time it was her own mom 😭
And don’t even get me started with del sol valley lmao. I “renovated” a lot of the worlds to fit my storylines and wanted to treat DSV as the “Los Angeles” of my timeline but it’s so bad I just pretend it doesn’t exist. It just won’t fit with my storyline because it’s just that terrible. Now It’s just a place people go for certain events and that’s it, and where unwanted townies would live such as households I test extreme violence mod with.
Honestly, the worst thing about this pack is the world. I honestly enjoy the game play though. It's a career I like playing through every once in awhile and feel like I can get enough of a different experience depending on gender and character traits. And I kind of like the campy build/buy. As a whole it's more creative than many of the packs that proceeded like horse ranch and high school years. Just saying. 💅

I can only hope that they will remastered most of the expansion packs especially Get Famous. I want them add a few new special sentiments to the older expansion packs lol.😢 One can only hope.

I've only gotten it when my sim had awful reputation. They call you up saying something like your bad reputation must make finding a date difficult so I set one up for you.
The paparazzi are so annoying. Let my sim and his wife enjoy their beach day, they both have a long work week. Also I find it really funny when a non celebrity sim woohoos with their famous spouse and they have a woohooed with a celebrity moodlet. You mean your spouse who you've been with since before they were famous.... I swear Sims are so dumb sometimes.
So I semi disagree about the CAS; I think we needed some of those NPC sort of outfits to flesh the pack out BUT I do agree that they should’ve added more over the top dressy outfits for the celebrities which, y’a know, is the point of the pact. And I feel the same about the build stuff, keeping a lot of the stuff behind debug and making different things for the build/buy catalog would’ve been better.
There are far too few community lots in Del Sol Valley. Where's the hustle and bustle of tourism?
Get Famous should get a singer/band career, and a beachfront neighbourhood to feel complete

i absofruitley love get famous! i played sims 3 city (that includes celebrity gameplay) and wow sims 4 is an upgrade 🤣 at least you can get famous from various things with this one

I want this pack for build/buy as a lot of the cc I want has some items as mesh, but also some mods use this pack. Celebrities showing up on lots and causing chaos is what worries me
for me personally I don’t get any problems with get famous, I bought it for the same reason for the cas/build buy. the only places celebrities turn up for me is del sol valley i don’t really get them in oasis springs or any other lot

I really enjoy the career for this pack, but I feel like the B&B and CAS options show that they had bigger plans that they couldn't implement. Why make NPC costumes and set pieces available if you're not able to build your own usable studio? I feel like they planned on making that possible, opened up the objects for it, and then gave up and never made it available.
Sims 4 in general is just as basic as a game could be. They leave it up to modders to fix the issues

Dude this is the one pack that i regret buying so much and find no value for in my game. I dont enjoy anything about it, not the gameplay, not the world, not the CAS or build and buy. Its atrocious

You CAN be sadistic and video a woohoo but you have to have both sims video. I guess its a glitch? But when you due its just labeled as romantic video and if you do anything else it will choose that, like cooking lol. (Don't judge me, it's sims lol )
they give you all the tools to make your own set but they didnt make the lot accessible. What if i wanted to make my own movie? Director career! I hate how you can only become an actor with this pack.

I hate the world so much. And it’s mainly the orchid a go go lot. I live near LA, I know thats supposed to be the Whiskey A Go Go. It’s like its close enough to know thats what they were going for, yet its still so far off. And you know what the Whiskey has every single night? Live music. It’s a venue, thats its whole purpose. Idk why they would put it into a world that has no bands. It doesn’t make sense. Of all the sims packs, this is the one that actually makes me angry.

I think there should be a better system for getting rid of game quirks. Like making non-famous friends. And friends that aren’t in the industry. Like you just can’t befriend the make-up person.

Genuinely, besides the acting career bc it’s too repetitive and I get bored fast, the gameplay is so good imo. I love playing as a “youtuber” I have a sim playing from 0 simpletons living in a motel and now she’s a 2 star celebrity living in a nicer apartment but on her way to 3 stars so she can get into the nice lounge and live in a luxury apartment bc let’s be honest, del sol valley lots are only good for apartments and motels lol. I just wish the world wasn’t so bad. Genuinely it’s awful. The houses in the background are literally morphing with each other! I replace that museum every play through and don’t even bother with those awful “mansions.” But I love how long it takes to get famous and go up a star. It’s made my play through hard which is rare in the sims.
This pack could’ve been so good if simmers did the builds and they spent more than 5 seconds thinking about the lots/world.
The media station bug of sometimes the video not saving OR YOUR EMOTION CHANGING, that one is the most annoying, hate it.
Also idk if it’s just my game but I have a bug where my sim can get into the nicer lounge with the celebrity lot trait even tho she’s only a 2 star celeb! I checked what the doors setting was and it was for 3 stars celebrity but I wanted to try and bribe the bouncer but the option was grayed out saying “your sim already has access” NO SHES ONLY TWO STARS!

It really is. I hate set dressing in the sims 4. They might as well do it like the sims 2 and just show the lot and nothing around it because there's no point in having the set dressing it just makes the world feel empty
HOW did you get "fan mail" ? I keep trying to get it and for days i cannot. i go to public , sign autographs to fans, do selfie together with fans ,and still nothing ,even if i chat with everyone after .

The build items actually was worse than the CAS imo, I found a few items in CAS that I used frequently, but the build is god awful. And I mean it shows with the Ward House 😭
The night life expansion was my least favourite expansion for the Sims 3 I always disabled it. It was a hot mess but I have no interest in Get Famous for the Sims 4.
I still hate that sims cant sing in a studio in this pack..
It takes forever to become a celebrity without cheats lol
