You really took the guesswork/insecurities out of how to get that zipper in the slot without that end tab being crammed inside the slot. The guide for your measurements of zipper length/pocket measurements gives me confidence to add zippered pockets to projects in the future. Great work.Thank u.

I am new to your videos and I love them. I have never made a tote before but your video has inspired me to make one. I am making it out of canvas and lining it, no pockets on this one. Should I wash the fabic before. Thank you.
Thanks so much Gladys! You can definitely do it! I don't usually wash my fabrics beforehand unless I'm worried that the color will bleed. But I also wash in cold water and line dry so there's not a big change of shrinkage happening either :). If you're worried about color bleeding out or shrinking, you should prewash. Good luck and keep me posted!

Yes, you could follow this tutorial to make 1 panel of your bag have the pocket and then you could follow my lined tote bag tutorial here: czcams.com/video/uSaAtnRrOGc/video.htmlsi=iPscngKUom45-9zW and just use the panel you created either as an inside or an outside panel of the bag :). hope that helps!

I like that A LOT!!! “ I don’t use that stuff because it creates waste”. Damn right. Gosh, all these chemicals and crap it takes to make these things we are led to believe we have to have because we need to have things done perfectly and we need them NOW. It’s a bunch of mind control(watch MadMen).
What do you think they did in the old days. It’s just mind-boggling. Just go slower and use your fingers and your pins.

Inside bag pocket
This was really helpful -- but I think your measurement is off! The slot you cut open is as wide as the length of the zipper tape, whereas I think it should be the length of the zipper itself! Making it as long as the tape means that the ends aren't very secure and there's a gap at either end. I cut my slot according to the video, but ended up having to patch other fabric in to fill in the ends :(
My zipper tape is usually about 1.5" longer than the zipper itself :). This opening is for the zipper length, not the zipper tape :). Thanks for watching!
I had to patch as well. You can totally tell this is my first zipper job.😂 Other than that GREAT tutorial !!!
Yes, you were not very clear in the zipper length issue. As soon as I cut my hole I realized. I have walked away to ‘cool’ off my frustration now

Your draw on the wrong side of the pocket piece. The fabric you are sewing it to is the right side. Which means both pieces will have the right sides together. Hope that helps. 😊
Pretty good vid but you didnt show how to make or add a pocket to a bag that is already finished.. You arent going to be able to turn anything inside out or such.
